Jobs boost at Ramada hotel

Ramada HotelAbout 70 jobs are available at the multi-million pound 81-bedroom Ramada hotel which opens in Wolverhampton Road, Oldbury, in weeks.

The jobs boost comes as plans for another hotel yards away moved a step closer.

Sandwell planners may approve a 30-bedroom hotel and showroom planned by Interiors Wolverhampton Ltd, which may transform derelict land on one of the borough’s main gateways.

The hotel would be  on top of a kitchen and bathroom display showroom, yards from the Ramada.

At the four-storey Ramada workers wanted include housekeepers, catering staff and receptionists.

Sumera Mehran, of Wolverhampton-based Fortmere Properties, which is doing the development, said: “Everything is moving forward very well at the moment.” To find out about applying for a job email maneetn@fortmere.com

Plans for the 4,041 square metre complex by Interiors Wolverhampton Ltd were put forward months after plans for a showroom, banqueting suite and restaurant at the site were turned down as not suitable for land allocated as a “business zone”.

New plans brought objections from nearby firms but council officers recommended planners approve at a meeting tonight.
