Wolves’ play-off dreams were cruelly left hanging by a thread today after Ipswich grabbed an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game at Molineux.
Mick McCarthy’s men had led with a Steve Bull-like finish from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake in the 73rd minute which appeared to have won the game.

Ebanks-Blake’s 23rd goal of the season – and tenth for Wolves – was not enough as victory was snatched from them right at the very death.
Into the fourth minute of the initial three added on by the referee substitute Gary Breen conceded a free-kick on Ipswich substitute Alan Lee in a central position 22 yards out and up stepped Tommy Miller to strike a dagger through Wolves’ promotion hopes as he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and into the bottom corner of the net past the motionless Wayne Hennessey.
Up until then, Wolves had shown no signs of a Black Country derby hangover as both sides enjoyed an end to end game of several chances.
Ebanks-Blake missed the best of them for Wolves, as he volleyed over from four yards in the 21st minute from George Elokobi’s cross after earlier firing just wide on the turn.
Ipswich, it has to be said, had their moments too and rumoured one-time Wolves target Alan Quinn had Hennessey producing a full stretch tip over six minutes before the break in the best of the visitors chances.
But the introduction of Michael Kightly as a half time substitute helped breathe new life into the home side.
The winger saw a firm, goal bound header deflected over on 70 minutes, then started the move which led to two chances for Ebanks-Blake.
First the powerful striker saw a header paried by keeper Stephen Bywater then a goal bound shot hit unfortunate team mate Neill Collins before supplying the break through.
The only down side for Wolves before Miller’s equaliser was the 18th minute departure of the returning midfielder David Edwards with what appeared to be an injury to his right shin.

Much criticism is directed to the likes of Keogh. How about directing it to Collins and Breen who are complete liabilities. I think that is it for the play offs now but before you all say it, I don’t think sacking the manager is the answer.

We’re only 14 points above the relegation zone! We need a defence in the summer. We also need to ask whether Kevin Kyle in Freddy out is the swap we want to do. And if we do and Kyle scores about6 goals next season and Freddy moves to another club and scores 25 what then? Bye bye Breen and Collins. The only half decent centre half we’ve got is the guy MM sent out on loan at the start of the season. Questions questions questions. The biggest question is how many more seasons of pain do us long suffering Wolves supporters have to endure?

We should have won today against a poor Ipswich side but couldn’t even beat a team that has only won away 3 times this season.
It is time for wholesale changes. Mick has to go and players like Collins, Breen, S Ward and Keogh need to be shown the door too.
I’m so glad I didn’t take up the early bird offer, because although I’ve had a season ticket since the mid 70s, there is no way I’m paying good money to see any more of that rubbish.

We were largely very poor today, Ipswich were even worse. How bad does that make us look? Keogh was crap, why on earth was Kyle brought on for SEB? Freddie dropped from the bench in favour of Elliott, says it all for the season as a whole. Freddie don’t get a look in and now even the play-offs are a looking a distant mile. Can’t understand why Gray was replaced at half time, he was again our best player. Collins was again also crap and should have made way for Breen for Gray to move into the middle. Again Mick starts playing a crap squad(no Freddie and no central midfield on bench) and they underperform just like when most of us were calling for his head. I beleive Keogh’s performance was down to no pressure from the Bench (Kyle & Elliott). Bad performance from the team and manager alike, we have to put this down to a bad season and move on cos I cannot see any push for a play-off place now let alone promotion. Their goal was a sickener tho and with Palace winning at Watford the Fat Lady is now on stage ready to sing. Will Mick be sacked? We shall see, I will point out tho that on this day two ex Wolves players have got their sides promoted…Ince and Ferguson. If Mick is sacked then so be it, I won’t be unhappy but if he is not then we shall just have to grin and bare it and hope he has learn’t from his awful mistakes during the course of this season. On todays showing it seems he has not, I also beleive we have done a deal for Freddie which is why he is not in the 1st team squad now. So even less pressure on Keogh now, things not looking good at the Molly right now. Have a better weekend everyone lets just hope they cheer us up against Cardiff on Tuesday. Disapponting. The game summed our season. Plenty of effort but short of quality and some strange team selections. The lack of pace in the defense and the lack of creativity in the centre of midfield need to be adressed in the close season.

I can’t see Mick surviving after all these abysmal performances and all these terrible players HE BROUGHT to the club in the summer. Collins is absolutely horrendous for this level of football but Mick will not drop him cos he ‘puts a shift’. The management surely realise that all they want to do is not get relegated i.e. keeps the crowds coming, and to not spend money and go up. MM is a clogger muppet and has no idea how to get the team up a division. He won’t get us relegated though.

i am DISGUSTED with MM on WM following the game. When asked a simple question to the whereabouts of £1.5million signing Freddy Eastwood from the FANS TEXTS- ”i suppose, in the stands watching the game, i had better options to choose from in the squad, i pick the team, i don’t give a fiddlers” then went on to say he will more than likely get stick for tactical decisions (eg no midfield cover for just returning edwards on the bench) but again, he doesn’t care.
HOW DARE HE SPEAK LIKE THAT. basically no regard or consideration for any other opinion other than his blinkered OWN. We as fans have a RIGHT to ask such questions, we pay, again, with a fantastic crowd of 26,000+ following the tripe of Tuesday, and MM ”doesn’t give a fiddlers”……

Where to start? (well, the Watford home game probably!)
Why start with a player returning from injury and have a player returning from injury on the bench (who Mick admitted in the post match interview couldn’t have lasted the match if he had come on too early).
Why weren’t Potter or Gibson on the bench?
Why take SEB off when he was the only player likely to score a second and the best player at holding up the ball?
Why did Keogh pass to Collins towards the end instead of turning and booting it upfield? Collins’ error led to Ipswich getting the ball and eventually the crucial free kick.
Making a fuss over Jarvis being down at the end was counter productive as the goal actually went in after the three minutes of added time was up, so the extra might not have been added if he’d been left to get himself up.
Why didn’t Hennessey move when the free kick was taken?
Why do I care so much? It’s all so disappointing.

Retaining failures is the way out for the weak minded! A complete clear-out is needed and the sooner the better.
MM is a serial failure, the same wherever he has gone. It always ends in tears and I’m crying some of them tonight!

Folks look I have been saying for ages about MAD MICK he has his favourites and unfortunately for us paying fans its Keogh, who in MAD MICKS eyes can do no wrong and Collins(who is possibly the worst defender i have seen pull on a Wolves shirt since i can remember since i started to watch Wolves back in 1978!!!!!)

Cruel blow but I still don’t believe it’s over yet. I thought after the Albion game we’d need 3 wins and a draw to snatch 6th place. Well we drew today but a win on Tuesday puts us 2 pts behind Palace. Even if we were level on points we’d still be behind them so we just need them to slip up.

i have spent the last 2 hours in agony reflecting on our season and after much thought i have come to the conclusion that we have done well this season. last season we completely overperformed and that is the reason we are so down.think of the days of leon clarke and jemal johnson up front,finally wolves have good young players(brought in by MM) that we can develop.although i accept that if MM doesn’t take us up next season he must go i still feel that it is for the greater glory of this football club that he stays.big decisions need to be made,however,sacking such a passionate and proven manager is not one of them.we are not a big club,so we shouldn’t take MM for granted.look at the exciting young players we will have next season

Whatever happens now I think Mr Morgan has got to show us how strong a boss he is! This season has not been the best and if i’m honest we don’t deserve to be anywhere near the playoffs but then I guess that is testament to some of the tripe in this league this season.
We need to face up to the fact that we don’t have a divine right to reach the Premier League, we ain’t as good as we think we are and the current set up really is going to take us where Mr Morgan wants us as quickly as he would like!
As much as I have enjoyed MM’s time at this club…from the sublime to the downright ridiculous, I think we need to take some big gambles if we are to move this club onward and upward, whether that is a move for Paul Ince before another big boy comes in for him i’m not sure. I would, however, hate to look back in 10 years time and think what might have been if we had gone for Incey!!! It’s a gamble but with his credentials I think it might just come off!!!

Jez Moxey has now appointed a succession of journeymen failures and survives. He said Ince was unproven. The only thing proved about McCarthy is that he can’t do it. Every season, `This is the one, we will do it, we are going up`, the trouble is that the club is not geared for The Premier, The Manager, well the less said about this fool the better, The Directors, obviously go to the matches, well the free drinks taste oh so nice, The Players are well aware that should Wolves ever get promoted, then they as players know THAT THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS LEAGUE, LET ALONE THE PREMIERSHIP. What a complete shambles! Foley and Kightly in central midfield, Keogh on the wing, Collins everywhere but where he should have been, and still we managed to get ahead. Then the most experienced player in the team gives away a totally needless free kick in front of goal in the dying seconds. Then another bizzare and embarrassing post match interview form the gaffer. Another wasted, awful season. Time for a change? You bet!

McCarthy said in his post match interview that if we are not good enough then so be it. The players we have in our squad are good enough for a play off place, unfortunately MM isn’t. This game summed up his lack of tactical nous and poor selection. Where do l start.
1. Collins selection ahead of Breen.
2. Eastwoods omission from even the subs bench (was he injured?)
3. When Edwards went off injured, why not move Gray into the centre and put either Elliot or Kites out wide. Collins is even more inept at full back than he is in the centre. Also Foley looked lost in centre midfield.
4. At half time why take off Gray who with Jarvis had been our best player. He should have taken off Collins who by now had totally lost his confidence moved Foley back to right back and Gray into the centre when bringing on Kites.
5. Last 5 mins. why bring off your top scorer when only leading 1-0 and bring on a donkey. If anyone should have come off surely it was Keogh who contributed nothing at all in the whole game.
6. While l am ranting Elokibi, what a waste of money, his passing is as bad as Collins.
Hopefully Morgan will realise MM is out of his depth even in the Championship. He has had 2 years, no sign of improvement even with a much better squad this season. Enough is enough!

Here we go again. All the mick out chants. last season we did too well with a team of ‘nobodies’ and this season we’ve not done quite so well (even tho we could still be in the playoffs next weekend) with kightly fit all season who knows? but i remember very well everton doing something similar not too long ago. under moyes they finished really well, then had a HORRIBLE season. Now look at them, one of the best teams in the league. Chopping and changing will do nothing for this club. Hoddle was a poor manager at wolves, he had to go. Taylor was sacked far too soon after a rush of blood and he’s been probably our best manager in recent memory. Give mick and the boys a chance. Realistically, if we go up this season, we could well end up doing a Derby and im sure you’d rather wait a season and go up in style than end up bottom of the prem with 11 points!

Thats a hard way to loose a game. You have to take the positives from this season. You have found a twenty plus goal a season striker. Find replacements for some of the obvious defensive frailties and it will come good. Get rid of Mick and who are you going to replace his with? It would be madness for you to have a blood letting now. Let him have another season before you commit managerial suicide and go for some emotional choice of a former player who will simply want to further his carear.

MM’s team,his tactics,his choice of players have produced the following awful facts. We have now played all the top 6 twice plus Ipswich today a total possible tally of 42 pts….how many have we achieved 8 yes just 8 unbelievably bad and certainly not worthy of either play offs or promotion.

Here we are left at the chapel again. There are the makings of a good side with these kids. Next season we need to improve the coaching. Everyone focuses on MM and rightly so but the coaching team are inept, particularly with the defence. Priorities next year must be, get rid of Connor and the other Jones left overs and get the best. Secondly find a couple of centre backs with experience and some speed, Third a midfield playmaker sorry Seyi you are not it. Give Eastwood a real run in the team and we can wipe this division.

And just to cap a horrible week for Wolves it looks like Albion are now Premiership bound. I can see Albion really kicking on now and doing a Portsmouth and really establishing themselves in the premiership.
Wolves I fear may really be facing a relegation struggle next year! We’re just not up to the big time as a club and I think the best Wolves can achieve is just outside the playoffs in the Championship which is where we’ve been for years.
Albion have a really rosy future in my view! And can see they expect to expand the Hawthorns and start attracting crowds similar to Villa. The traditional Midlands rivalry has always been Albion and Villa anyway.

Sorry, I can only make the night games these days, but was the scenario anything like the recent Southampton match. Deep into injury time, hanging on to a slender, precious, vital lead, facing a set-piece threat, the nerves jangling, the defence at full stretch . . . all played out against a backcloth of hundreds, yes hundreds, of Wolves fans heading for the exit. Apart from being distracting to the players, what are you guys on? It’s not Old Trafford with its horrendous traffic problems, you don’t leave an agatha christie play before the culprit is named, and you don’t walk out on a lap dance. And how many of you were screaming ten minutes earlier to get stuck in and give 110 per cent to the cause blah, blah, blah? I fully appreciate Wolves is a lifetime commitment, so surely 90 minutes plus injury time is not too much to ask once a fortnight. But hey, it’s a free world - just don’t block the view of fans who are really bothered.

But I do think its mad though when everyone keeps talkin of MM going??? Why do we constantly keep wanting to keep changing management? I know some have been definatley needed over the years but why now? We have a good manager in MM and SOME people want to get rid of him it’s madness.. You look @ Manchester United’s success. Fergie’s success wasnt instant.. Look @ OUR history, some of our greatest teams over the year’s haven’t been a over night success. And that’s why i for one think we need to stick together as a team, regardless of what happens @ the end of the season. We are staring to build a good squad now and come summer maybe we will add some tasty additions. I just hope that if we dont make it to the playoffs (which tbh aint looking to hot now) we dont loose our top talent.

what a shambles again we haven’t beaten any of the top teams it can only be down to MM and his inadequat coaches, We have no pattern to our play and just keep booting the ball upfield and hope the golden boy Keogh will do sopmething no chance.I have never known great goal scorers run all over the pitch they earn their corn by being in the box something MM doesn’t like.
The number of goals we have scored shows he has got it wrong. I hope Oli watches the video to see how inefective he is and see the through passes Folley made to the wingers etc. the only plus point from the gane. The defence well its a joke but he keeps picking his golden boys to justify there signings. When you look at our squd its frightening too many players who he sighned but are inadequat.

organ must act now. McCarthy has been simply awful this year. we have played consistantly poor in a very average division. It is more luck than judgement that we are not in the bottom 1/2. His standing by very poor players like Eliot, Collins, Keogh (I like the lad but this season he has been mostly terrible & crying out for a spell on the bench) etc & his treatment of Eastwood beggars belief.
The bottom line is he is not good enough & neither are we if he remains in charge.
Get rid - Ince or Ferguson in & maybe next year we can actually begin to enjoy matches again.

Good questions but money doesnt mean a thing if you cannot get the players down to the Molineux. Freddy or SEB (SEB), Freddy or Keogh (Freddy), Kyle is there for a reason and I think he proved something at Charlton to show what he has been brought in for.
Couple players over the summer no mattter where we are and NO INJURIES should put us back into the entertaining football we saw last season.

To number 10 (lisa). Were you at the albion game on tuesday? I have now joined the people who want Mick out, Tuesdays game confirmed that for me. To be beaten in the local derby and not even put up a good enough fight was heart-breaking and us ‘true’ fans want an end to the inadequate tactics being used by our inadequate manager.

I will always appreciate the way mick rebuilt our club last season but this season he has lost the plot. collins, breen, foley, stack, kyle, d ward, s ward, thats just some of the names of second rate players who are not good enough to play for us. I am suggesting all wolves fans write to mr morgan and say ‘we want paul ince’ the man demands winning, his whole career he has demanded winning and he loves wolverhampton wanderers, he played for man utd, liverpool, intermilan etc and said the wolves fans were the best fans he’s played infront of. he now has the promotion on his cv that he desired go and get him. base our young squad around, hennesey, murray, d edwards, little, dan jones, elokobi, jarvis, kightly, keogh, seb, bothroyd (ince will whip him into shape), EASTWOOD, olofinjana and keep buying young players but it is vital 1 or 2 get brought in with experience as ince will know, we are wolves, we deserve success and ince will deliver, will anybody else write to mr morgan?

MM has got take flak for what has happened this year, lasts season it was clear to anyone with half a football brain that our defence was shocking, we were giving goals away that a Sunday league team wouldnt concede!! Just watched Incey’s interview on the Championship…what a winner! No chance of him comin to us at the Mol then!!
Think we have probably got 1 more season with Kites, Hennessy and SEB in a gold shirt, then when it is clear that we will never get promoted under MM they will (understandably) be on their bikes!
To me, the Eastwood fiasco sums this season up…offering so much promise at the start but totally mismanaged throughout.This being the case, there is one person clearly responsible!
That said, I will of course be willing us to win the next 3 games, but fear that after the result vs Sandwell and Miller’s late equaliser yesterday, heads are not going to be in the right place for Tuesday’s battle royale vs the Taffs! Listening to MM’s interview post Ipswich, he sounded as if he was going to top himself, so goodness knows how he is going to lift the players for Tuesday!
And before I sign off….a note for the happy clapping MM fan club….those of us who want him gone are just as loyal, committed and devoted to the cause as those of you who want to hang on to the buffoon. The only difference is…we know what we are talking about!!

There lies the problem, Mick does not care for the benefit of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, he is too stubborn for that, he only cares for himself. If we had Eastwood playing week in week out, not just a petty 10-15 mins towards the end, this would have been a completely different season. Why oh why are so many of you saying we have the start of a good side.
Point one - We dont have a defence.
Point Two - We have no creativity in central midfield.
Point three - We only have one proven goal scorer.
Point four - Saturday proved that MM has his favourites (Kyle, Elliot, Collins) the list is endless.
Thats the team taken care of, require at least 6 quality players to arrive during the close season. I hold my breath as to who comes in.
Now the club.
Point one - The club has no ambition and is happy to stay a middle ranked Championship club, so the board can skim off any small profit we make.
Point Two - Morgan is more interested in Liverpool, Charity Work and the buildings at Molineux, as he cannot say he’s happy with what he has seen on the pitch.
Point three - Whilst Moxey has kept the club on an even keel(which is what we all want) he has also taken his time over purchasing players, or not going that little bit further to get that little extra quality in the player market.
As for the manager what can we say, terrible decisions on and off the field of play and a man who has no regard for the paying fans what so ever. If he thinks we are terrible why stay.

Started reading all the `knee jerk reaction comments. After 20 or so was completely depressed by the emotional outpouring. I’m gutted by the result but can’t help wondering what you would all have been saying if the ref had only allowed 3 minutes overtime. Youngsters make silly mistakes from which hopefully they learn. In extra time we should as any experienced amateur knows be hitting the corners and holding the ball up. Collins, whom I refuse to castigate, should have done this. Breen should know he shouldn’t be diving in to tackles in the last third when there is no need but I expect the adrenalin was flowing too much. 9 times out of 10 we would have held out for that last minute but it was not to be. Swings and roundabouts; Another must win on Tuesday. You cannot say you have not been entertained over the last month or so. If we don’t make it , whether some of the better players decide to stay or not may depend on the quality of support they receive over the coming matches by the 12th man; The magnificent Wolves `Supporters. So let’s be positive , noisy and dare I say it, `optimistic`; a dirty word to a lot of Wulfrunians. Out of long, long darkness please cometh light.

Quite like the blunt MM but disagreed with a lot of his tactics and team selections in the dark period when we went totally defensive because we had not got the centre backs we needed. Well done to Craddock and Grey for their elderly contribution over this season.
Love having a young promising side but you do need some experienced players in each area of the team to take charge and advise. With about four more sensible signings next year looks really promising if we are still stuck in this terrible division.
Although I would rather have Incey as manager, I think changing now might unravel a lot of the good work done in the market over the last two seasons by the current set-up. Some fans have short memories and have forgotten the dire mess we were in when Mick arrived.
Whatever occurs regarding the management, we should all be grateful for last season towards Mr McCarthy just as some of us feel towards Jones. Who would be a football manager; Everyone but the top few must be regarded as `crap` by the great unwashed. Out of gloom…

Ok - let’s look at the Championship this season….Burnley, Palace, Preston, Sheffield United, Norwich…all felt it was going wrong part way through the season and changed their managers. All have improved!
Colchester, Scunthorpe, Sheff Wed….. and Wolves all stuck with the “things will change - give it time” philosophy and….
I know you can’t generalise but the point I’m making is that it’s not about “time”, it’s about whether it’s clear from their actions whether they are up to the job. How long did Claridge last at Millwall?
All of those who like me want MM out are united in the belief that it’s not a question of 1 year, 3 years or 5 years! From his words and actions MM is patently not up to the job and that won’t change!!! The players know and just watch the good ones go!

I do think we are still in with a chance of the play-offs, Palace are in but Watford are on a downward spiral at the mo, however the only way to do this would be to play attacking football. Is this going to happen when we have a manager who replaces an attacking midfielder with a defender at home in a must win game, or the man who takes off his most energetic and experienced player off at half-time when we had two clowns playing at full back.
And on that subject surely Jones can’t be playing as badly as Elokobi, get him back and give him a chance.
On a positive note good to see Kites back, shame Edwards had to go off looked lively and willing to put in a tackle, and I thought Foley played quite well in midfield but obviously needs to go back to right back now in place of Collins.

I honestly cannot believe all the garbage from so called Wolves fans after yeaterday’s result. The same old anti MM brigade are here again, quality counts and his cronies. MM WILL be with us next season. We are not ready for the Premiership yet and that’s a fact. Our squad is young and inexperienced and will only get better. Injuries have plaqued us this season, especially Kightly. MM will be given one more chance by SM and I’m sure our defence will be strengthened during the summer. Yes, players will go,I hope. Namely Eastwood, N. Collins, D. Ward, Breen and Kyle. Our young stars Kightley, Hennessey, Jarvis and SEB will all stay and with the right defenders in next season will be a time for the celebrations to start. Our other kids from the academy will be a sound back up for the inevitable injuries that will happen during the course of next years campaign. The likes of Little, M. Davies, Liam Hughes and Dan Jones are examples.
So all you doom and gloom merchants on this site, wake up. We do not have a divine right to be in the Premiership, it’s earned the hard way by consistant results and good football. If anyone needs to go then get rid of Connor, he’s been here way to long imo.

MM is poison. I also listened to his popst match interview. If he really believes he had better options than Freddy he knows nothing about football OR could this be personal ( that has never happened before with MM). It is plain for all to see that Eastwood has the best touch and footballing brain in this team. If he had played all season and we had used the likes of DJ down the left we would be going up. This is the worst Championship in years (Potters going up !!!) and we can’t make it into the play-offs. MM has sacrificed Wolves this season because of his selfish pride. If he stays I will get rid of my season tickets as I only renewed in the hope that SM will sack him. I have been saying it from before xmas bring Incey in.
I will also vote for Freddy on Tuesday thanks to that arrogant joke of a manager we have.
We need to let SM know our views on Tuesday on McCarthy. We can then get behind the club we love.

Aye up Wolves fans, I know how you feel at the moment, having lost in the play-off final and the F.A. cup semi-final, but unfortunately these horrible things happen in football. But you’re not out of the play-offs until its mathmatically certain. It’s no good getting rid of MM until you see what the outcome is at the end of the season. Albeit we are now in a strong position for promotion, god forbid we should lose our last two games, then we could end up in the play-offs. Football can be very cruel sometimes, but always keep the faith.

OK.season over then is it..? so why not have the balls to try something on Tuesday to encourage more attacking football…we are crap in the final third…too often we try to walk the ball into the net..shooting is an important part of the game….selection on Tuesday should include Little, Rosa and Eastwood…Blake and Keogh just does not do it for me…who goes alongside Craddock???? I know I’m going to get slated for saying this being a Baggies supporter but come on you Wolves supporters, keep your heads up and cheer your team into the play offs they can stil do it, win all three games and you have 72 points. It would be great for the Midlands if Albion, Stoke and the Wolves could all get promoted.If the Blues can stay up with the Villa just think of the fantastic derbies we could have. Having said that none of the others would compete with the Albion and Wolves battles by far. I’d love to see a sweeping change to the management of this club. let the youth be blooded again and get Ince in to lead with hunger,,,,,,a hungry manager. Well, more 90th Minute nerves cost us, too many occasions now. How can you put Elliott on the bench and not Eastwood? MM is doing himself no favours now and with the ex-wolves contingent in Ince and Ferguson getting promoted and probably Assistant Venus going the same way, it’s time for Mr Morgan to do the right thing. Yes, we’ve maybe not had Kightly or Jarvis together all season but that can’t replace the awfulness of some players currently like Collins who doesn’t know what the word clearance or hoof means. The likes of Daniel Jones & Mark Little are being ignored and everything put into context then sorry Mick but it is not looking good for you.
Looks like debut visits to Swansea and Carlisle next season is looking highly likely. If we went into the last game against Plymouth with a chance of still getting in the Play-Offs then we would be very lucky however 0.1% of me has to have that renewed hope.

I think that Saturday’s performance just about summed up the whole season. And The McCarthy interview on the radio after the game just about summed him up too!
Ipswich are truly awful away from home but as the game went on you could see even them grow in confidence.
Wolves were pretty poor in the first half but got even worse at the beginning of the second.
Passing was awful, absolutely nothing happening in the middle of the park. Half time team talk by Magilton must surely have been, make sure you put the right back under pressure all the time! Collins was hopeless!
The only creativity in midfield was Gray, and I just knew he would take him off, and he did, so predictable.
Anyway, where do we go from here?
Keep the faith because it is still mathematically possible or is it a footballing impossibility for this group of players and manager? McCarthy suggested as much in the post match interview, “maybe we’re not good enough”!
For me there is no maybe about it, it is a stone wall certainty that they aren’t good enough. It is pointless listing the players that are not good enough in fact it is easier to list the ones that are!
As for McCarthy, if he thinks that the last two performances were good then he is a man who clearly understands little about football! His post match comments are getting as daft as the tit for tat snipes between Wolves and Albion fans. Effort and endeavour will never make up for lack of ability, not in this league anyway!
McCarthy should be in division one with three-quarters of this team then I am sure we would see the best of him.
Until someone at the club shows some ambition Wolves are going nowhere. Will we be here in three or four seasons time watching MK Dons win the championship? Don’t bet against it!

This season has been a disaster and we should not be in the position we currently are in.
We could have been challenging for the title, but have failed miserably and I am afraid the Management of this club is completely to blame for this fiasco.
There are many instances when our tactics have been baffling and one instance was when we shut-up-shop and settled for a 0-0 draw at Blackpool in February. An extra 2 points from that match for instance would now have been invaluable.
Next Season - Retain Mick ?
We will be probably fighting promotion with the likes of a resurgent Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Fulham, and a revitalised Charlton Athletic. And don’t forget that only one of the current play-off teams can get promoted this season and they will fancy their chances again next Year.
Before the Euro Championships start I expect to see decisive action at Molineux from Steve Morgan. He will surely not suffer a bullying fool, with a total lack of PR, in charge of this once great club

I can’t understand why all you lot hate Keogh, he’s the perfect foil for SEB as Mutch was for Bull. But he needs a solid midfield so he doesn’t have to keep chasing back. The midfield and defence are far too weak. Two solid centre halves and a ball-winner in midfield will turn this team into winners. Freddy is over-rated. And do you really think the style will change under Big Sam? Ince, Ferguson or dare I say Clough Junior in for next season!

Sorry, I don’t hate him and he is better than most at the club but unless someone can get hold of him and coach him into being a striker then I just don’t see what he brings to the club and I don’t really think he knows what he is doing either. He chases everything so it is inevitable that he will have some success but most of the time it is wasted energy! There is no comparison between Bull and Mutch, to be honest!
The only comparison I can think of is when John Richards broke into the squad. He chased everything and achieved little for his trouble. Then someone took him to one side and told him to calm down and let things come to him - the rest is history!

abdon i agree with what you say in principle but Mutch was never that prolific. He chases because this midfield is so flimsy he can’t get the ball any other way. I believe he has the vision and positioning to make a premier league second striker.

This a results business and we are not achieving on the pitch. If we miss out on the play offs this year, then MM’s gone backwards with a team he’s shaped himself. Poor signings and no excuses. We were outplayed by a WBA side who passed the ball rather then just lumping the thing up field to no one. The standard of fotball this year’s been shocking and the cost of a ticket is a rip off for what we have to watch. I accept poor football if we were top of the league but to not even be in the play offs and still play like that is inexcusable. I’d rather change manager now then watch another season like this. Even if we did get promotion next year MM wouldn’t keep us in the premier league, he’s not a top quality manager, his old school methods don’t work in the modern game. Get Ince or Ferguson in.

The only argument in favour of keeping MM seems to be that Man Utd stuck with Ferguson and he became successful. Slight difference is that Fergie is a good manager and MM isn’t. Don’t just take the view of Wolves supporters on that point of view, ask people from Sunderland, Millwall and Ireland too.
The only way the club has progressed in the last twelve months is that we signed Ebanks Blake. In no other aspect of the team are we better than a year ago so how can anyone argue we are moving forward.
If the objective of this club is to get into the Premier League and stay there then surely after this desperately under achieving season we must conclude it ain’t gonna happen under this management.

I thought Ipswich were a poor side but came to Molineux with a plan, to get a draw and even though it took 93 minutes, they got that draw! Not the worst Wolves performance this season but still not good enough. If Wolves dont make the playoff’s which they probably wont, they need a managerial change. The club needs a shake up. Get a centre midfielder in the club like Jonathon Greening and we will challenge.

Come on - I’ve got more chance of proving I’m the love child of Santa Claus than Wolves have of even making the play-offs, let alone getting promoted.
Yes, we can “keep the faith”, but in truth, it’s been patently obvious since Christmas that we’re just not good enough.
But look on the bright side - we don’t have to watch ourselves get thrashed 5-0 week-in, week-out next season. We can sit back and watch some ‘other’ team suffer that weekly humiliation instead.

So we’ve only got a very small outside chance of going up but imagine if we actually went up, does anybody think we’d do better do Derby because I sure don’t! We’re not ready, it’s as simple as that. We’re one of the most stable clubs in the division with a good crop of young players to choose from. 14 points off relegation, 14 points off the top spot. Yes, we do need a clearout, starting with Collins and Breen but this has been coming all season, not just since we conceded a last minute goal Saturday. We’ve never really been at 100% this season with injuries, it shouldn’t be an excuse for a squad the size of ours but it has made a lot of difference not starting with Jarvis, the Kightly injury, Murray, D. Edwards to name but a few. As far as Eastwood goes, he’s such a talent, a real talent but if he doesn’t fit in with the other ten lads in Gold shirts when he’s playing then we need to get the £1.5 we paid for him when we sell him. I think it’s a shame because I for one have enjoyed watching him play.
Sack Mick? I think it’d be a mistake. Get Paul Ince in? an even bigger mistake! Nice bloke, great player, great attitude but it hasn’t taken a miracle worker to take MK Dons out a league they shouldn’t have been in in the first place. Maybe in a few years but not now.
What I’m really fed up of is seeing a team that is only out to get a 1-0 victory. Ipswich are dismal away from home and once we got the first we should have pressed and pressed until we got another and finished them off. I’m sick of the nervy last ten minutes! Whatever happened to just keeping hold of the ball and running down the clock? I don’t even remember that last time I saw Wolves finish off a team giving them a good hiding and counter attacking football! Wheres that gone? Wayne did his best Saturday dishing the ball out when he could but it’s very rare!
I’m assuming we don’t get promoted this time around, whether we get into the play off’s or not, we have a good summer, add a good centre back, come back raring to go and take on this very poor league. If we’re not top three at x-mas then Mick needs to go.
First things first though, we need to show this very average Cardiff side how to play football. I’ll be giving Dave Jones a round of applause when he appears, great man, under funded when he needed it most.

Kyle offers us an alternative way of playing, Elokobi is young and will improve, Craddock has been our best and most consistent player all season and Olifinjana has played well overall the others I would agree with but you want rid of the whole damn team near enough. As for getting rid of MM that is not the answer. Okay he has an arrogance about him but its his team why should he play Freddy just because you want him to. Its been reported Esstwood doesn’t train well and doesn’t put any effort into it does that justify him a place in the squad…no it doesn’t. Granted I would like to see him play a full game but its unlikely to happen. I suppose you are also one of these muppets who want Ince in because he’s really proven as a manager at this level isn’t he. Wolves need stability. Sacking the manager is not the answer nor is getting rid of most of the team as you are suggesting. This squad is young, they need to build on what the have and MM needs to buy sensibly in the transfer market for gods sake give him a chance. Lets face it if we did go up this season we are hardly premier division quality now are we?

the season isnt over yet, even if it was im not worried because next season steve morgan will sort it out and our success will make things go very quiet on the albion front,
steve morgan knows what hes doing, this season hes just been assessing the situation at molinuex, seeing who he wants to keep, who needs to go and what needs to be spent. he will get us in the premiership and keep us there. steve morgan has already discussed extending the ground with the council, hes got big plans and hes going to implement them. I firmly believe that we could fill a 60,000 stadium if we were established as a top ten premiership club. the vast majority of people around wolverhampton and surrounding areas is a wolves fan, its just that no one goes because over the last 20 years weve been nowhere near as successful as we should be. so to conclude, enjoy your boinging while you can albion fans, because in 4-5 years time its going to be a very different black country and i myself will be very happy in the knowledge of being a life long, wolverhampton born and bred supporter who has never booed or left the ground early and been there since the days of 5000 attendences on the old south bank. Clan Shaw Wolf - what utter garbage! Milton Keynes in a league they shouldn’t have been in anyway? What planet are you from? That club was going knowhere until Incey went there and now they are promoted. Previous year Macclesfield were relegation certainties until Ince took over then they survived.
He has not been too proud to go to the lower leagues to learn his stuff. Unlike a lot of prima donnas that wait for a big job then screw up.
With that experience behind him and with his playing experience Incey is a cert to land a top job very soon - I only hope Wolves step in quickly enough.
If Milton Keynes were promotion certainties then I presume you are now rich like me having backed them at 7-1 in August. I wouldn’t have put a penny on them if MM had been in charge. the only way Wolves have improved this year is the signing of SEB. Even that was MMs third attempt to buy a striker this season after paying £1.5m to sign Eastwood then not liking him and £1m to his Sunderland benevolent fund for Elliott.
There is no way we should give McCarthy until xmas as you suggest. The football we have watched this season has been boring in 90% of the games and we are no closer to being a premier league club now than we were a year ago.

Mixed feelings about MM, I understand the frustration espescially with them lot shouting their mouths off at the moment, but need to keep our heads,I actually think that its a nice change to have a team of youngsters with potential and with the right training staff behind the scenes who knows? could do with one or two solid midfielders with experience and grit but we need to be patient, maybe give him one more season, don’t worry about them lot squeeling about the Mowbray way, give it till Xmas and their tune will have changed! I’m sure the old trafford and Anfield faithful have all heard and are worried to death about the prospect of having to face the ‘blue and white wizards’ the Mowbray way!!

The base of the team is already there and MM needs to buy sensibly to enhance that. I am not an idiot for voicing my opinion or because I like MM. I am entitled to my opinion as you are to yours just because I don’t agree with you that does not make me an idiot. I believe that building a team takes time and personally I would rather have a team get promoted to the prem who have a chance of staying there than a team who just manage it and then end up a laughing stock like Derby County.

Still reflecting on Saturday’s fiasco - am I the only person who thought a draw was a fair result between two average sides ? They created as many chances as we did and had as much possession (check the stats!). The equalizer came with the last kick but was thoroughly deserved I’m afraid.

Anyone who listened to McCarthy interview on WM must agree he has totally lost the plot. This season has been a disaster from day one, and if the Manager stays we will be in the same position next year. The treatment Of Freddy Eastwood, who has kicked his last ball this season, has been nothing short of disgraceful. Definately time for a change.

We spent £5 million since the end of last season (far more than most in this division) and we are a worse team for it - work that one out!!!!!! I wouldn’t trust Mick to spend a penny without getting wet feet. SEB apart the signings have been, at best, average. I’d rather play the kids again.

You are right that building a team takes time - but do you really think Wolves have made progress this season? We are lower down the league, the football is less entertaining, and other than SEB I can’t see how the team is any stronger now than a year ago.
