Olivier Kapo has revealed he wants to stay at Birmingham to end the debate on his future.
Kapo’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since former boss Steve Bruce left for Wigan.
But he insists he had no intention of leaving St Andrew’s.
“I like it here, my family like Birmingham,” he said. “I’m staying here.
“I signed for three years and after three years, if Birmingham want me for one more or two more then yes, why not?”
The attacking midfielder also believes fourth bottom Blues can stay in the Premier League – because of their fighting spirit.
“I want us to stay up and I think we can,” he said.
“We have good players and we can fight as well, we have that fighting spirit.”
Because of injury and suspension, Kapo has only started with James McFadden three times, while those two and Mauro Zarate have been restricted to just 16 minutes’ action at Sunderland.
Kapo believes had they been in tandem sooner, Blues would be safe by now.
“Had we all been together before our injuries, then we would have been out of trouble,” he said.
