I disagreed with Mr. Powell on many issues but on the issue he was vilified for he was absolutely correct. Now commentators are beginning to admit it. He was right, too, on the issue of the EU.

We’ll always have a place in our hearts for ‘ar Anoch’ for he was, inspirational, learned, eloquent, cultured and visionary, He is very sadly missed by many.
The man had a good point to make. This country has a certain budget per year to accomodate its citizens. There becomes a point where if we keep accepting immigrants into this country, the nation’s purse will not afford to look after everyone.
If he had have been listened to he saw the migration of many countries into the UK, he was not a racist but put in very bluntly which many people found at that time including his own party offensive i lived during the time of his speeches.
his biggest backers were people from asian countries who had the understanding of what he was saying look at the influx at the present time ,as he said it will cost the british government a great deal to absorb all of these people at a detriment to the people of the UK in later years, he was a visionary who was never fully understood

Enoch was right to be concerned about the ‘Rush to be accepting.’ Some cultures consider the Wests kindness as weakness. The sooner we see this the better.
I have emigrated to Australia and thank goodness. Over here they can see the madness of the multi culture myth.

Enoch was a visionary and intellectual who realised that the influx of immigrants would cause tension. His fears were as much directed to the white community as they were to the new arrivals. Extremism was his dread, most notably the National Front and it’s hangers on. Yes the far right used him as a rallying call, but he never associated with these groups. The subsequent rise of radical Islamic groups is now the greatest threat to this country since Hitler and confirms the complete failure of the notion of multiculturalism. The latter is a paradox, how can you have different cultures combining and maintaining there independence. There is one culture in this country and it recognises the rights of individuals from different back grounds. The bed rock of this belief is the laissez faire tolerance of the British population. That is why as a community we have taken in different musical influences,religions and beliefs. Unified they are one diverse culture.
Carl- It is simply wrong to claim that Powell will be remembered as one of the most misinformed men in British politics.
People well well disagree with his views, but I think most people will remember him for being a politician who, although controversial, brought very serious issue to light- an issue which many people today feel very strongly about but are too afraid to raise.
I am not a racist, but this country cannot continue to be seen as a soft touch for immigrants. Britain already has a worldwide reputation for being an easy place to settle and and enjoy benefits, and this has to stop very quickly otherwise there will be big problems, as Enoch predicted. Britain can only accomodate so many citizens, and we are already at bursting point.
I am not a racist but have to agree that Britain is becoming a soft touch. Why can’t we have a system like many others around the world where we welcome immigrants with something to offer such as for job shortages? Not just to come and sponge off the rest of us as many do! Yes I know many British people do this too and yes we should sort them out too! (perhaps we could do a swap!)
As an American citizen I unfortunately must admit Enoch Powell was absolutely right, except when he said there were not general average differences between groups of people in ability to reason and organize society, particularly progressive societies. I have wrestled with this for a long time. If it makes me a racist so be it. I can not disregard my uncertainty in thinking that cultural inequalities are in part, genetically caused, but I can, at the very least, reason that they likely are. Do everything you can people, to assault Islam, on the street with bats and bricks, with your vote, and in public forums with acerbic tongues, and with important insight, and a keen eye for truth. No great feat in the interest of morality came without sacrifice. Do not let go, do not give in. If a war must commence then let it be short and strike fast, while the advantage in numbers is with your people, the people who create a better world. In short time your nation may be like America, which has forgotten the meaning of free speech, behind the veil of PaCi (PC Nazi) rhetoric. No rational discussion can occur. We are walking the plank, economically and socially, but we ourselves can not see it. Do not let this happen to you. Battle at every opportunity to destroy unreason and those who protect it through coercion, brainwashing, and intimidation. The world can not wait for you to gather the nerve. Your children can not wait. With every moment you let this continue you commit a more egregious immoral act. And may the flag of freedom and truth fly over the United kingdom for another millennium. I am terribly sorry.
