Walsall manager Richard Money today moved to refute suggestions that he could leave in the summer.
Money stated after the 1-0 home defeat to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday that he was seeking reassurances from the board with regard to next season, but today confirmed that does not mean he is thinking of leaving.
“I’ve no intention of leaving this football club whatsoever,” Money said.
“But I will be meeting with the board come the end of the season to make sure that we are all still moving in the same direction and I would think that’s normal practice for any business to be honest.
“I have never expressed any hint of leaving this football club.
“I understand the type of club I’m working for here and I understand what we have to do to keep it sound financially and I don’t have any problems with that or any contest with that.”
The discussions at the end of the season will revolve around a budget that Money believes was not sufficient to maintain a promotion push.
Money said: “Clearly the budget that we were given at the start of this year has not been big enough to compete at this level in the way that we wanted to, so we have to really look at that and that’s all I’m saying.”

Make your mind up! Surely by saying that he wasnt happy with the budget he is preparing the directors for an ultimatum: Give me more money or I will leave. Well, whatever you think of DD, surely we do now have the money to give him!?
First things first, I respect DD as a manager, ok some signings have been dodgy but on the whole he has been well above average.
However he is by miles the worst PR man in the history of football, and that includes Kevin Keegan.
I fear for him that other ‘bigger’ clubs are going to see his toys out of the pram attitude and be put off.
Saying that he would fit right in with Wenger, Ferguson and co.
Does anyone know anything about this Mooney on central situation?
SOME signings have been dodgy??
Cederqvist
Sonner
Hall
Picken
Carneiro
Mawete Junior
Moore
Brittain
Brown
Lyall
Fanguero
All terrible signings, but lets be fair, his budget is set by Jeff Bonser who thinks you get good players when you pay peanuts.
We need to keep RM at the Bescot, no doubt about it. Champions last year and a 7th place finish this year. What has the man got to do?
Phil, I think you’ll find that even the best managers have a lot of players who dont work out..Ferguson and Veron for instance. If the board backs him with some money next season then surely DD can mould a team to get promotion!?
Phil mate, you forgot James Constable’s exit, in my eyes his worst crime at WFC.
I think we all respect DD’s coaching ability/organisational skills, however I think his attitude towards others sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
I fear he will never achieve what he could at Walsall due to 1. Mr Bonser and 2. The fans division of opinion regarding him (which is his and nobody elses doing)
Don - I agree about Constable! Him and Mooney could have been a good partnership.
Well Money may not be leaving us yet anyway, but Tommy Mooney definately is, he has come out publicly and said he will not be renewing his contract and is likely to spend some time abroad at the end of the season. He said this season has been one of the most mentally challenging of his whole career. He had hoped for more of a player-coach role when he arrived which didn’t materialise. He suggested there had been problems in the dressing room earlier in the campaign and at times he felt like he was the manager of the youth team because of the age/immaturity of our first team squad. It was obvious that he disagreed with the selling of Dann and Fox without bringing in replacements and was upset that we couldnt hold on to Ricketts, stating that it made the squad bare and players played when really they shouldn’t have but had to as their was no-one else. Should be an interesting pre-season.
