Kightly back to lift Wolves

kightlyceleb2.jpg

Michael Kightly is ready to lift Wolves’ derby hangover by declaring himself fit for a role in Saturday’s clash against Ipswich.

The exciting winger came through his second comeback game before yesterday’s Black Country derby defeat with 70 minutes against Crewe.

His latest outing comes after he played an hour against Oldham reserves last week following ankle surgery on February 29.

Kightly again showed no reaction as he stepped up his comeback in a bid to gatecrash the club’s play-off push.

“I don’t feel I’m ready to start a game yet because I’d blow up after a half, which is no good to the gaffer,” said Kightly.”But I definitely I feel I’m fit enough to be on the bench and play some part. That’s down to the gaffer.

“But if I can get some minutes in the first team, that’s only going to improve my fitness.

“I need that time before I’m ready for a start, so if it’s going to be a couple of substitute appearances first then so be it.

“You can train all you like but reserve games are a different level and then first team games are a different level again.

“I’ll be pleased just to get back involved.”

Kightly insists Wolves’ destiny remains in their own hands despite being three points off the play-offs with only one game in hand over their rivals.

“We’ve still got a game in hand and we’re still in there,” he said. “There are still a few points to play for, and win, lose or draw last night it wasn’t going to be the end of it.

“We’ve still got a good chance of making the play-offs.

“We started this season really well and looked like we could challenge for automatic promotion but we hit the wall.

“Confidence was a bit low and we struggled, but we’ve got through that which shows the character in the squad.”

Kightly is just relieved to be back involved again after virtually four months out injured.

“I feel good,” he said. “I got 70 minutes (yesterday) and my fitness felt a lot better than last week so I’m really happy.

“I was never going to be able to start 100 miles an hour because you end up picking up other injuries.

“I’ve now come through two weeks training and two reserve games so I’m really pleased.”

Best of luck….just not too much luck ey? ;-)

Ok, so Mickey Gray is no Kightly, but he was our best player last night. When Kites is back, where’s he going to play? You can’t drop Jarvo either

Yeah - he’s bursting to play now Robbo’s out the way.

You don’t mark kightly - just shout BOO! at him and he disappears.

LCW - didn’t he play in the games last season when we spanked ya ??

If he’s all you got to worry us, then it’s even worse than you think.

I dont know what the problem is.

Did us Wolves fans really expect to win?? I would have been pleased with a draw.

The 1st half i thought was quite even, but lets face it, it was boys v men in the 2nd half.

Lets forget about last night and cheer the boys to 4 wins and into the play offs (hoping Crystal Palace drop points).

Cant wait to see Jarvis and Kightly on the 2 wings.

S*U*P*E*R, I agree Gray was our best player.
But i’d still play Kites and Jarvo on the wings and i’d play Gray left back as George is terrible, he gave to many balls away yesterday.

Wolves fans, i can’t belive no one has mentioned this… doesn’t anybody else think that elokobi is a centre back?? the weakest parts of his game are passing and crossing and strengths are pace, tackling and heading! him and jody in at the centre would be immense (and i’ve heard George prefers to play in the centre too!). Get Gray back at left back, say bye bye to Collins (a brainless defender) and have Kights and Jarvs swapping around on either wing where they see fit…

was dissapointed with the service SEB had last night, we dont play it into his feet often enough, but we can still make the playoffs (Palace have to go to both Hull and Watford) as long as we BEAT Ipswich on saturday.

Cmon lads, get behind the boys no matter what.
