How low can your pilot go?

Watch airplanes appear to skim over the top of houses as they descend into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak airport.

The airport, which is now closed, was legendary for its approach procedure, which was offset 90 degrees from the runway.

Pilots of even the largest jumbo jets had to make a tight turn at low altitude just seconds before touching down.

These clips were shot in 1998, the year that the airport was replaced by the new Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok.
