Gera dedicates winner to fans

Gera celebratesAlbion derby hero Zoltan Gera today dedicated his winning Molineux goal to the Baggies fans and claimed they are now within touching distance of the Premier League.

Gera made up for his penalty miss against Wolves at The Hawthorns by blasting the winner in last night’s Black Country clash.

And the Hungarian captain told the soaking wet Albion supporters in the Steve Bull Stand: “That was for you.”

“It was a massive game for us and we won against a big rival for the fans,” said Gera.

“I am very happy to win the game and to go back to the top.

“We are getting closer to the Premier League and we’re looking forward to the next three games.

“The fans like me and I am very happy for the fans. They were great supporters in heavy rain in a derby game. I ran to Kevin Phillips first because he gave me a great ball and it was a great feeling, but then I went to the fans.”And Gera, who is one of the Premier League veterans still in the Baggies squad, said Albion’s players are now doubly determined to retain top spot for the rest of the promotion campaign after reaching the Championship summit for the third time this season.

“We are top and now I want us to stay there for the last three games,” he said. “The next game is very important away from home at Norwich and I’m looking forward to trying to win the game. Last season we missed a chance when we lost in the play-off final against Derby so we want to go up in the first two places.

“We don’t want to play in the play-offs again because Wembley is not the best place for us.We lost in the play-offs twice there so we have to make sure we stay in the first two places.”

Gera again refused to be drawn on his own future at Albion, although it is thought the Baggies’ chances of tying him to a new contract might hinge on promotion.

“I’m not thinking about my future because I want to go up with my team,” he said.

Man Utd Boss Fergie is having a party on the top floor of a posh Manchester hotel. He rings his pal Tony Mowbray to see if he can come. “You coming up Tony?” said Fergie….”Yes it’s common knowledge im coming up in glorious style mate” replies Mowbray “But im afraid my mate Mick McCarthy will not be able to make it, maybe next year!”

Gera is an absolutely top Pro.

If he goes at the end of the season I will wish him well and thank him for the effort and the style he has bought to West Bromwich Albion.

Is it just me or is it awfully quiet on the Wolves pages today ??

Wolves fans lets put things into context, albion are still recieving parachute money they were in the premier league longer than us so they have had more resoureces over the past 5 seasons, due to this there squad is bigger and has better quality, beacause of that we are playing catch up! As much as I hate saying it they are a better side than us at present. Well done to them last night. Lets face it they should have had this league rapped up weeks ago.

Lets pick ourselves up and get ready for Ipswich on sat if we are to make the play offs we need to get behind the team, it still in our own hands.

Come on lads you can do it.

Good morning NathanWolves I wondered how long it was going to take you to crawl from under your rock this morning. Face facts mate we are better than you simple as. We have proved it time and time again and the best you can come up with is that we were quiet. Your lot left with ten mins to go the stadium was half empty come the final wistle. Is it Merlin Mick today or McCarthy out or haven’t you made up your mind yet?. Gera will sign a new contract when we are promoted you can’t knock ambition maybe thats why you constantly under achieve because of a lack of it?

Better luck next time, mind you we may never play you again HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!

We may have been sounded out by the home crowd….until I heard the roar when we scored when I was on the phone to my dad! That certainly put things into context.

Nathan, there, there my child. Sit down and take some deep breaths. The green eyed monster will only give you high blood pressure.
Deep breaths, deep, deep breaths. Inhale and now whilst exhaling say `i shouldn`t be so ungracious in defeat because they are the better side and deserved their win.` Inhale and exhale again to say`wish we had a player of zoltans class, he`s better than Gibson, olifanjana, henry, ward, jarvis all rolled into one`.
    Feeling better?

  18. SherpaVanDiv4winners said:

Did anyone tell the Wolves management that “50’s” style football aka “long ball” has gone out of fashion…Albion have always been the football purists……..STOP PRESS: Wolverhampton Samaritans require extra staff to man the phones and stewards to control the crowds….

And how many points would a 5-0 win have got us????…..don’t worry 1 goal is enough to get the 3 points and we have already got a very positive goal difference thankyou.

Do you think we are worried if Zoltan decides to leave, we went through this garbage from Wolves fans last season. Players left but TM found better ones!

Cheer up everyone we lost 1-o to an average team with average support on a off night.
We will come out tops remember they have to sell their home tickets for a £1 just to fill the ground for the last 2 home games even though they are top…Just

I’m afraid that Wolves are a poor man’s Wolves at the moment. Two similar clubs with similar histories. The difference is, we have something to live in the present about.

You dingles were awful, we should have hammered you 4,5 even 6-0. It really is easy beating poor mid-table teams like Wolves. The only thing is..How are you so far up the league? If you play like that next season you will be going down into league one! Boing Boing, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy….

WHERE’S THAT MUPPET SOTHBANK BARMY ARMY, HE’S BEEN AWFULLY QUIET TODAY HASN’T HE?

  41. divingbaggie said:

I will be honest ….. Im not THAT bothered about beating the Wolves anymore.Apart from the local rivalry, it really isnt a big deal anymore. The fans are moaners and the team isnt even in our league. They like to think they are but their reconrd against us over the past few years is nothing short of shocking! If it wasnt for the fact that they are local, we would just see them as a hasbeen club that live on their past achievements…and a club that we always take points off.The fans are delusional if they think that they are a top 6 team.

And for those that are now saying that we have all the money…Wolves have had a rich benefactor for years….what happened? It aint all about money lads.

I think that it is better that you lot start making the wolves/walsall derby more important. You might get a result at the bescot.
