Boss unhappy with position

Mick McCarthyMick McCarthy admits he isn’t happy with Wolves’ league position and says the players expected better.

McCarthy rode out a rocky patch in February to steer Wolves to the edge the play-off zone. But he believes his side have under-achieved this season.

“I’d like to be top and about five points clear – I’d like to be home and hosed by now if the truth be known,” he said.

“So I’m not happy with our position because I’d like to be in a better position and I think the players feel we should be over the course of the season. I’m sure if we sit and analyse it there would be mitigating circumstances, reasons and excuses.

“But I go back to that first team I picked when I first came here and maybe people should be a bit happier than we have been.

“I’m not content with where we are but we still have that opportunity of getting in the play-offs, which is what we’re all trying to achieve.”

Just to prepare for tonight’s sell-out clash, he arranged for the players to sit through Albion’s draw against Watford coming back on the coach – although the Molineux gaffer didn’t force them to watch.

Who in their right mind would force themselves to watch a Watford match? Ugh! The footballing equivalent of Japanese water torture or tooth extraction minus anaesthetic. Hopefully tonight’s match will be a much more entertaining affair…

“this is an announcement to all Wolves Supporters attending tonights game”
please, please cheer the lads on for the whole match, not just a decent shot, or great block etc.
lets show them that we are 100% behind them in everything they do, whether it comes off or not.
we have tried booing them and that doesnt work, and last season when we didnt have the quality like we have now but they tried we cheered them.
so lets give it everything we can, and then we are in the hands of the football gods.
    COME ON WANDERERS

I do wish this guy just shut up for the rest of the season. We might have a chance then.
Of course we have underachieved significantly this year. We still unbelievably have a chance to rectify it and it starts tonight.

    Come on Wolves

COME ON YOU WOLVES. Good to see you ackowledge your mistakes this year. You are getting it right now so I am right behind you and wish you all the best.

For all the people that have stated that McCarthy is stubborn then there is proof that he is not.

    Dear MM,
It’s about time that you admitted league position is important, and am finally pleased that you are looking at our league position, especially when you have said on many occasions that only at the end of the season will you look at the table. Might I say it’s a tad late to be doing this though, and by your sheepisness i think you know that.
But I suppose better late than never.
Right lets be positive, only a few games left to go, so MM do as I suggested a while ago, get the office to make a life size print of the league table and stick it up in the dressing room so that everyone can see where we stand, I feel the pride is coming back into the players and staff so don’t dissapoint, a final massive push till the end of the season.
Good luck to all the players keep your heads up and keep fighting for every ball, that is all every Wolves fan can ask.
Also good luck to Hennessey hope you can keep a clean sheet for tonight and the remaining games, you’ve done us proud this season.

The reason we are where we are has a lot to do with tactics and bizarre team selections. How manygames did Favourite son S.Ward play out of position(wonder what his true position is?)when Jarvis was available. How many times did F.Eastwood feature for minutes when all was lost?Yes wolvesmod (6) how many games were we without Craddock when he was a better option than some who played.I could go on — bottom line is current league position is dowm to M.M.,and if we do manage to crawl out of this weak division we still should look at replacing this muppet

  21. wolfatgate2 said:

MM as others have said, you claimed to have no interest in the league tables until the end of the season ! Perhaps if you had some of your selections would have been different and based on ability and not on favouritism.
In saying that lets get the job done tonight !

Can we not just accept that MM is our manager and get behind the team. This is realy boring me, name me wolves best players and they have all been signed by Mick. Wake up and realise that will you, course hes made mistakes and we’re not where we want to be YET. Cumon, lets do the baggies

  25. Stoke Wolves said:

Well done MM. None of us are happy with the current position especially when you consider all the rubbish teams that are above us in the league!! At least the playoffs hold no fear - or do they?

Well, i suppose he’s even less happy now? Finally noting our position in the table are we thick mick ?

    27) Hear Hear!

those who think mick should be here next season are not true WWFC fans. they do not have the best interests of the club at heart. they are incapable of looking to the future.

Somehow we need to hold on to our star players and get rid of this incompetant buffoon
