Albion went top of the Championship with a 1-0 victory against Wolves at Molineux.

Zoltan Gera scored the only goal of the game which saw the visitors hit the woodwork twice before scoring.
Wolves had plenty of chances but failed to get on the end of any of them.
It was a passionate encounter with the first half in particular being an end-to-end thriller.

Well done Baggies!
well done wolves you played all right but west brom did not play any good football like wolves and wolves have got to pick ourseleves up for the weekend
southbank bloke laughing at ya all the way,cum on you baggies ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Beat the Dingles to the Prem in 2002.
Beat them in the play-offs last season
AND scuppered their chances of the play-offs this season.
LIFE DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER DOES IT ?
Nearly there now!!
Well done Baggies!!
1-0 to the Champions. Now crawl back under your rocks Dingles. Boinging back to the Premiership the Mowbray way.
ding dong dingles….ahhhh need a striker???
SEB threat negated for the entire match, not a single shot. I can’t even remember him touching the ball.
That says alot about the lack of quality in the wolves team.
We handed it to Albion, very poor performance.
tony mowbray…. superb
Mad Mick…. shocking
a goal in front of the south bank….priceless!!!!
bad luck wolves you played well just didn’t take our chances but baggies took their chance and scored and we need to play eastwood from the start
WISEGUY SAID ROBBO IS GONNA DISTROY YOU WHAT HAPPENED? NOT SUCH A WISEGUY AFTERALL WBA TOP WOLVES???????
MORGAN..GET A GRIP AND SORT THIS RUBBISH OUT!!!!!! OR YOU CAN STICK YOUR SEASON TICKET
Footballing all the way, where was the ebunks bloke, the albion showed you how to play football, greening never broke a sweat, boing boing.
thereeeesssss only onnnneeee zoltan gera one zoltan gera
Gutted. Could not see the game but it sounded like we gave them too much respect and played too deep. The stats have them as the better side. Looks like our season is over unless something freakish happens, like we win all our games. Probably for the best, we simply are not good enough and the leadership has been poor all season. We had to win those last two games to prove we are up there but we ended up with one point. Hull and WBA to go up and I fancy Palace to nick the third place and do a Derby. Off to get rat arsed.
we only needed 1 goal, wolves now need a miracle stay down the wolves are staying down.
WOLVES = LOOOOSSSSEEEERRRSSSSS
southbank barmy army wheres all your sarcastic comments??? all your high and mighty speeches one word
GERA
we are top of the league i said we are top of the league, you just ain’t in the same league,Dingles

SOUTHBANK YOUR NOT SINGING ANYMORE,,,TOLD YA NOT TO GET TO COCKY,,,,SUPA ZOLTAN GERA……..PLAYING IN THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,,OH YES……….WELL DONE WEST BRAZIL…..
were just too good for you…were just too good for you!!!a class above
2. What planet are you on? We had the most possession and shots on goal but you played better? Dream on Dingle.
It appears to me that Wolves fans are getting confused with the corporate aims of WWFC. The club will produce very good profits, which is why they exist. This silliness of trying to compete in the Premiership against clubs with billions available is just silly.
Tailor your suit to suit your cloth, is the message!
Wolves will *NEVER* see the Premiership for more than one season. Wolves are just a fringe club, that is making its owners a lot of money!
Dingle bells, Dingle bells the Baggies won away. Lets hope they now finish the job off.
Unlucky dingles, Southbank? you and a few others need to admit the gulf between us is huge. You need a new manager, with new ideas and a few new players to go with it.
Forget about the playoffs, you aint winning anything… build for next year when at least you can get some points off another midlands team (Derby) lol
Up the baggies!!!
southbank barmy army said: Apr 15th, 2008 at 4:33 pm OH BOY, ARE THERE GOING TO BE SOME SOBBING BAGGIES TONIGHT OR WHAT.. NEVER MIND POLICE CORDONS, IT’S FLOOD BARRIERS WE’LL NEED.

still gutted but 4 pints later a little more chilled. Fair play to the boggies, their football is a class above. We must sort ourselves out and get 7 out of the last 9 at least.
hahahahahaha
hehehehehehe
stop it, it hurts
Gutted tonight but they did a job on us and deserved their win.
But why oh why cant MM be more gracious and admit the better side won. His bleating on the radio was an embarassment. Come on mick pick them up and lets win the last 3
11 southbank barmy army If you have got a season ticket why are you posting comments at 9 52. Did you take your laptop to the game or just live vvv close to the mol
tesco boys/steptoes lets c what happens at the end of the season, you still cud end up in the play offs, dont count your chickens.a victory over your local rivals doesnt mean automatic promo to prem.as no 5 lets crawl back from under or rock and meet the tesco boys in the playoffs. come on the wolves……..
Wolves second best right through the pitch!
Jarvis played well and Gray.
Very difficult to reach the play-offs now but not impossible!
Bad team selection, never going to do anything with such a powder-puff midfield and slow defense!
26. Kiddybaggie
Not a very classy post!
Everybody join with me,WE ARE ALBION,I SAID WE ARE ALBION, cum on my baggies
Good form is temporary, class is permanent-bow to the superior Baggies!(It’s a good job Albion are going up,we’ve fed up of beating wulfs).
easy easy looks like the dingles will be playing Swansea next year gera gera

can we play you every week, sorry after tonight… we ll never play you again
Well done to all the team and the staff. Massive win, especially against the “Puppies” Two more wins should be enough, hopefully against Norwich and Southampton. Just stay focussed and professional and we’ll make it.
C’mon you “BAGGIES” I been with you since 1967 so make this another great year with promotion.
thanks south bank. You are a credit to your fans.
The wolves fans were coming on here bragging how they were gonna whoop us and how we have a dodgy defence.Didnt happen now did it.
Im not going to gloat at all as i would like to see both teams in the prem….but the fact is the wolves had the upper hand for many years, more money, better players….the tide has changed and the albion went into the game with a much stronger side and playing the better football.
Good luck next season and be a bit more realistic. You will find that the baggies fans wont gloat as much in the future
How parochial some of you posters are!! Anyone would think that you are AC Milan or Barcelona. None of you have ever played sport at a decent level, or otherwise you would not be so carried away by a local victory.
Just heard McCarthy on WM…
Thought Wolves played well…certainly put a shift in!
Same old rubbish!
Oh well, we are so lucky to have such a good manager
hampshirewolf, wish you`d won tonight but put your teeth back in son, your posting didn`t make sense. Never mind history lessons - look at the present and face up to it, if you hide behind texaco cups (presume thats what you mean, cos wba have won more FA cups I believe) then you`ll always be a very bitter little chap.
We did our best but Im sorry to say that the Boggies outclassed us…………
Fed up, disappoited,etc
Roll on Saturday lets get 3points
Wolves born and bred
36# NO MATE I WAS WORKING TILL 9.00PM, GOT BACK FOR MOST OF THE SECOND HALF. WHEN I CAN’T MAKE A HOME GAME MY BROTHER GOES INSTEAD.

Fabulous. Nearly there boys. Come on Albion fans everywhere. Celebraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate !!!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Hey lads, eighth place is still pretty respectable for a club like yours. No giant killing tonight I’m afraid.
Happy…. yeah have your fun, you got the bragging rights but why the laughter ? Even you can’t believe that it was that easy ? Good luck for the rest of the season and lt’s hope we meet up next season !!
we’ve got phillips yuv got ebanks-blank boing boing
It doesn’t get much better than this. It sounds like we played our attacking football and kept a clean sheet at the same time.
However, I would love to see a black country derby in the Prem next season so good luck to the dingles for getting in (and through) the play offs
haha whoever lit that flair is a legend..cmon u baggies..
4. i think you maybe need to get a life if this is what you live for its sad really it is only football at the end of the day.
40. you only won 3 points tonight not promotion you could still end up in the playoffs.
You know - over these past seasons - my antipathy for WBA has mellowed. They have been, and continue to be a superior side, with a good manager who has built and invested wisely. They play flowing football. They score in abundance. WE, are in a halfway house - building, strengthening, getting things right, bringing people on and making mistakes along the way- naturally! Molineux was incredible today - the atmosphere…well…..thunderous. Has this always been the case from our impatient supporters? I watch rugby now and am always
incredulous at the respect, one word - repsect - from players to officials, from fans to one another, in this game - played by gentlemen designed for thugs. Give WBA their kudos…at this moment in time. regardless what has transpired, they deserve their success. For my money - HOW WONDERFUL it would be to see thew whole of the glorious West MIdlands represented in the Prem! As for Wolves, my support is unfaltering, I remember 3 seasons back, we had no capacity for the basics of the game. In another 2 years, we might be no further, but…..seeds are being planted!!!
6. no we don’t need a striker we have got a striker with a better future than any of your strikers. your strikers haven’t scored for 2 games now do you need one.
you might get automatic but i think you are all getting a little too carried away you think because you beat us tonight you are promoted i reckon the other teams in the top six will have something to say about that.
17.
actually we are in the same league.
The Championship you ain’t won nothing yet.
southbank we might come back down but think of the 60m we will have and still be better than you,,,GOING UP THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY ,,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,,OH YES..
A well contested first half but once we scored the result was neer in doubt. On to Norwich and hopefully another three points. Wolves to use McCarthy’s favourite phrase “put a shift in” but the Albion had the class and in the end class tells. Going up the Mowbray way In style of course.
our strikers are going nowhere?
Miller-u21 england
Moore-u21 england
Bednar-Czech coach is said to want him in the squads next year
and then theres kev…not the youngest… not the fastest… but as long as this man has legs he is going to score or set up a goal EVERY time he plays you
a good team would have have won 5 so that tells a tale..could have gone either way…
66. how old are bedner and miller, dingles when we drew at home 0 - 0 you lot celebrated like you won the cup, so how can netto carrier bags come on here and knock us celebrating
This match shows why the Championship is so poor this season. Albion were poor and Wolves were a lot worse!
Where’s the entertainment and quality gone? I’m paying good money for park football!
michael you have A striker with a better future AWAY from custard city
last 10 minutes was nerve wracking to listen to as it was all wolves with us hoofing it clear and the odd counter attack. You have to ask the question why was n’t it like that from the start ?
(although i’m glad it wasn’t). just spoke to my brother in law (wolves through and through) and he said at times they couldn’t get near the albion. there will still be lots of twists and turns at the top and in the play offs and i hope that at the end both albion and wolves will be in the prem
Up the baggies
southbank barmy army Fair enough mate . Perhaps you should think of a change of career . You must have been gutted to miss the game
Well done Baggies you’ve just ended any further arguements between me and my Dingle mates before they start. Good to see some honest posts e.g 33 & 35, Good luck to Wolves for the rest of the season, would be quality if we can both have our rivalry in the Prem at the expense of a southern club
Fantastic result!!!
Super Kev is class, class, class (contract now please, Mr Peace). Well done to Deano for keeping a second clean sheet against the old gold foe this season. The job is most definately not done yet… tonight will count for very little if we slip up against the Canaries. But what a great feeling to have the bragging rights again, even if I won’t use them
Boing-Boing!!!
Boing-Boing!!!
Boing-Boing!!!
Boing-Boing!!!
In Mowbray we trust…
37.wv13wolves.
True this win isn’t an automatic ticket to the premiership but if we are going to meet you in the play offs you have got to get there first, you’re still 3 points adrift. Up the Baggies well done here comes the Prem again.
70.
never said they where going nowhere said SEB as a better future than them dont you understand. is it too hard for you little brain.
You may have scored 100 + goals this season however I will enjoy watching the 100 + goals you let in next if you hold your nerve for the prem.
WBA(Derby in disguise!!)
Isn’t it funny how all these so called baggies fans from all across the country suddenly crawl from out of the wood work, or should that be the muck heap, just because the won a match. For neutrals it was a great game, but it did show that we are not capable of promotion. Our team is just not quality enough. Is this the fault of the manager or the players? As Mick bought most of them I blame him. We need more quality. All of this young and hungry talk just smacks of ‘promotion’ on the cheap. Why did Hayward sell to Morgan? Because he promised to invest millions. Where has the money gone? While Mick is a reasonable manager, he’s not the best. Bring in a winner like Paul Ince and start splashing some cash Morgan. It’s time we had some real success, not just a lame one season wonder. We do not want to be another Derby County.
Albion are better than Wolves. The money the’ve spent on thier players they should be. If we’d spend £3Mil PER PLAYER! I’d expect wolves to be able to pass it round like Arsenal. But is doesn’t mean we won’t make the play-offs. We played OK and were just outplayed by a very good footballing side, We need to focus on Ipswich and Cardiff.
What I hate is that Albion gloat and take the mickey but there squad was so much more expensive, so it’s just like taking the pee out of a poor person for having worse clothes or something! Get a grip baggies, you’ve bought success, we work for it!
lets hope the dingles can get promoted thru the play-offs because we could do with the 6 points !! boing boing !! going up the mowbray way !!
WORCESTERBAGGIE..YES A NICE LITTLE EARNER, BUT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SPENT IT ON PLAYERS TO KEEP YOU UP. NOT BANK IT FOR THE SHAREHOLDERS XMAS PARTY.
BUT AT LEAST YOUR GOING UP..CAN’T ARGUE WITH THAT.
72. i dont care how old they are. SEB as a better future and yes at molineux.
i never celebrated drawing at the craphole like we had won the cup.
i see Miller changed into his orange boots because when he saw our clubs colours he liked them a lot better than your crappy club colours.
WE ARE TO OF THE LEAGUE AND WILL BE GOING UP AS CHAMPIONS.BOING BOING BAGGIES.LIFES GREAT BEING ABAGGIE..
We were beaten not by the better team but the best team on the day. I think man for man we are as good as you but not when we have Mick picking the sides.
You have a better manager, fair and square and it shows in the way you play the game and the way we do. We still have a chance of the playoffs and regardless we can take stock in the summer.
This is the year to go up, next year there will be Bolton, Derby, Fulham, Sheff Utd, Charlton, QPR, Watford all fighting to go up and it’ll be much tougher. This is the year where medicracy as won and Mick will have to answer why we didn’t get there if we don’t.
68. thats where you make all your money from.
Being losers. its ridiculous.
just look at Derby and how much money they will receive for being the biggest losers ever.
you should just get money when you are in the prem and not get money for getting relegated.
76# I’M SELF EMPLOYED LOL, HAD TO GET THIS JOB FINISHED TODAY. BUT I’VE ONLY MISSED 4 GAMES ALL SEASON. YES THIS WAS GUTTING TO MISS..BUT I’M GLAD I DID NOW.
AND HE CAN HAVE IT FOR SATURDAY WITH PLEASURE.
Freddy should NEVER wear a Gold and black Shirt Again! Disgrace when he came on!
The Baggies have the better team, play better football and have the better manager. It is no disgrace to lose to them. As I’ve said all along, they will be promoted and deserve to be.
The tragedy is not that we lose to or are behind the Baggies, it’s the fact that we’re behind the likes of Hull and Stoke which hurts and that beyond buying young and hungry players, we don’t seem to have much of a clue about tactics or team selection.
Mad Moxey thinks we’re building something…but if he thinks that this performance shows how far we’ve progressed since the ist leg of the play-offs last year then……hmmm!
brisbane baggie said filtonwolf (bristol) I HAVE READ SOME OF YOUR COMMENTS THANKS FOR THE COMPLEMENT THE SEASON IS NOT OVER YET HOPE YOU CAN COME UP WITH US.I AM SICK OF MAN UTD ARSENAL CHELSEA ECT GETTING ALL THE GLORY. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ONE OF THE MIDLAND TEAMS WIN LEAGUE OR F.A CUP FOR A CHANGE SO GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON
BOING BOING WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE AND WE ARE STAYING THERE,WIN TWO OUT OF THE LAST THREE AND WE WILL BE CHAMPIONS OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Well done the baggies, lets hope wolves can join us in the prem!!
84. you didn’t get 6 points off us this season so where is you reasoning.
we where not taught a footballing lesson in the first half the game could have gone either way in the second we just didn’t compete like we should have MM should have made substitutions earlier.
Filton 60 - that wasn’t me.
However…. SBBA, Michael, Pampers, LCW… ect - Kneel at the ToMo’s alter of total football.
Kneel in the presence of your champions.
SEB - kneel in the presence of true class.
Wolves fans - bow to your superior opponents.
And yes - I did stand in the custard bowl and sing… “WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE, SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE”.
Geeeeeee-raaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!
Congratulations Baggies
I can accept that not only did you play better but your players wanted it more. I always said we would need to score 2 but couldn’t manage 1.
Mick if they are all showing such commitment how come Gray (our oldest player) is left to do all the chasing. More hit and hope stuff but it isn’t working.
83.
“Get a grip baggies, you’ve bought success, we work for it!”
That is pretty much the wrong way around. Year after year Wolves tried to buy success. It has been the Albion that have had to work for it mate. No major investors , no consortium buy outs. It’s been financial prudence, steady investment in staff/players, training academies. Money gained from promotion (against the odds and against teams that have had much more money thrown at them), has generated much needed cash. If there has ever been a team that has had to work for its success it is the Albion.
There was a point in the second half at 1-0 when I looked at the wolves bench and saw Eastwood and Kyle sitting there - and just knew we were gonna win it.
5 forwards on against us and no goals - I think thats the end of the “dodgy defence” rubbish we have had to listen to.
LOVIN IT !!!!
as much as i enjoyed the win over the wolves, i do feel sorry for you in 1 respect, although we did need/deserved to win, i want the wolves up in the prem with us, although i dont think thats goin to happen while you have MM at the club, i am not 1 of these that boo the team or the manager but i think its time soon for you lot to get rid of him (MM), u pay your hard earned cash to watch your team play, so you shud be able to watch entertaining football like us, good luck for the rest of the season wolves fans
boing boing
Thought we were superb today, looked comfortable in attack as well as defence, I think Clem has made a real difference this last month. Only downside was Miller, poor first half and rightly subbed, look liked he were playing in roller skates the amount of times he fell over!
Let’s not get carried away though there’s still a job to be done at Norwich..
Hampshire wolf….what planet are you on..?…living on past memories mate…its the present that counts and your team and definately your club aint in the same league as the Baggies mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!….and wont be for years to come..!!!….all you Dingles will be old and grey before you get any bragging rites back from us !!!!…..doin’ it the Mowbray way…in style !!!!…Boing Boing !!!……Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaa……..
wulf said”What I hate is that Albion gloat and take the mickey but there squad was so much more expensive, so it’s just like taking the pee out of a poor person for having worse clothes or something! Get a grip baggies, you’ve bought success, we work for it!”Called good management wulfy unlike you lot buying mediocrity for all those years with sir jack’s millions
91 Eastwood had a few good touches but was forced to play in midfield whe Kyle came on and the ball got lumped over his head.
It amyt not be pretty but the way to beast albion is bog men form the start, we are nevr gonne out pass them.
Kyle should have started and messed their defenders about instead we created nothing but the ball still got lumped forward all game. At leaast Kyle would have scared their defence.
It ain’t eastwood but the tactics?
One dimensional McCarthy, panic at the back lump it forward, flick on hope for some movement goal? Has it been aby different all season? Sorry flick goes to the wing and then cross…. or Jarvis the only creative player we have gets the ball and runs at a defence scaring them to death.
Nver gonna win a league with such limited options!
Great result, can’t wait to grab a victory pint in the Albion, Bethnal Green
Any one else fancy Ince for manager?
WELL DONE BAGGIES, WELL HAPPY WITH THAT, I WOULD HAVE SETTLED FOR A DRAW B4 THE GAME, THE ATMOSPHERE WAS AMAZING, GREAT GAME, NO VIOLANCE, GOOD DAY OUT, GOOD LUCK FOR THE REMAINING GAMES WOLVES LETS BOTH GET UP THERE AND SHOW THE PREM WHAT A REAL DARBY IS, FORGET THE LIVERPOOL V EVERTONS MAN U VS MAN C
ITS ALL ABOUT THE GREAT BLACK COUNTRY DARBY
BOING BOING GOING UP IN THE TOMO STYLE
I love all these “baggie fans crawling out the woodwork” remarks…when all week on these boards it has been how Wolves were going to hammer us in there second cup final of the season. Look…… at the moment we are the bigger club and have been for the past few years. Before that you were the bigger club. Hopefully we will get promoted and play our real rivals Aston Villa. We didnt miss you when there was a division between us and we wont next time. Stick to Walsall.
Where are some of you Wolves fans getting your info that SEB has a better future than any of our strikers?? Also how any of you can think that man for man your as good as us is laughable…..
And we may have bought success but thats what we are getting, you are working hard ill give you that but your not getting any success from it….
Unbelievable comments….. best team won as we have for the last few years…
Were not up yet but what position would you Dingles rather be in right now…
Ah thank you…..
83-in the 90’s you had millions thrown at you from sir jack,Albion were in debt, your fans taunted us with ‘loads of money’,and guess what?-we still kept beating you!(By the way,the 2 expensive players, Brunt and Moore, are usually subs-most of our best cost less than a mil.)
86. “i see Miller changed into his orange boots because when he saw our clubs colours he liked them a lot better than your crappy club colours.”
absolute muppet comment!
nothing decided even tho tonights result was great for us.4 points could see us lift the title but deffo not over yet.
I stiil fancy the wolves to make the playoffs
Just back from the game, had to sit in the upper steve bull as my brother in law got me a ticket, id say we deserved to win, by no means did we pass wolves off the pitch and mm is right the wolves put a shift in, but wolves lacked that quality in the final third, hitting the ball long on a greasy pitch meant keily swept up the ball maybe 20 times. The general consensus around me in the ground was it just wasnt wolves night and they didnt really look like scoring. I was glad to see the albion go man for man at set peices rather than zonal marking and it seamed to pay off, cus we didnt look like conceding from set plays all night. Thought morrison and gera were terrific and greening and koren won a lot of second balls in the middle, phillips movement too is different class at this level. To all the wolves fans that think well come back down like derby, the difference is we keep the ball and move it around the pitch, if you give the ball away in the big boys league, you will get punnished. Forgive me, forget the wembley result last year, derby were one of the worst sides in the division last season, they just wollop it up the pitch and hope for the knockdowns. Albion have the players to keep the ball which is why if we get to the premier league we have a pretty good chance of staying there. It wasnt a great local derby, 1 yellow card says it all, and there wasnt much atmosphere either, at this stage of the season id say it was mainly due to what was at stake. It was the right result at the end of the game no doutb and i wish wolves the best for the final 3 games.
83 . ??? After Sir Jack Hayward and his cheque book?? How can you make that post………..Stunned..!! More like taking the mick out of someone without a history of either supporting and/or remembering their own clubs transactions. ps you would find most Wolves fans gloating now if they had won tonight and quite rightly so
i was nervous all day long before this game as it could have gone either way.Once the game got started then all nerves disappeared as the better standard of players and philosophy of attacking football came to the fore.
Well done boys but still need a great performance on sat to send us up as champs
Reguarding baggies fans crawling out the woodwork:
Yes mate it’s a great boozer, the woodwork, but you can hardly blame us for crawling out of it - so much celebrating usually goes hand in hand with drinking lots
well done to the wolves lads
they deserved to win it to be honest
shame we didnt
but just coz we didnt win,
dont mean its the end
we can still make the playoffs
and we’ve got the team to get us there.
Come on you wolves!!
Well done you Baggies. A depressing night for me in many ways. I broke down 4 miles from the Mol and had to be towed home. The guy was not a footy fan so I had to wait till I reached home for the score. Almost the first thing I heard was your goal. Anyone want to buy an unused ticket? All I need now is to read a post from Terrywewonatthecustardbowlagainbaggy.
Up the Wolves!
88. “I think man for man we are as good as you”
You really believe that??
Tell me who from your team of “hoofers” would get in our team…….erm Hennessey (who we will be nicking off you next season) and thats about it!
29. Wolves have done afew thing the baggies havent. played in the fourth division and gone bankrupt.
83.didnt you have a decade of trying to buy success with Sir Jack and now mighty Morgan?
Our money has come from getting promoted on a shoestring under Megson and not throwing it away under Peace. We ae probably the best run club in the country and thats why nobody can buy us for a tenner!
83 Wulf said: Apr 15th, 2008 at 10:46 pm Albion are better than Wolves. The money the’ve spent on thier players they should be. If we’d spend £3Mil PER PLAYER! What about all the 90’s when you splashed the cash for fun and us Baggies were the poor relations. Boots on the other foot. Get used to it.
90 Southbank Barmy Army. I feel sorry for you having to miss a local derby. But don’t give up all hope just yet. Win your game in hand and your still in with a good shout.
Regards post 88 - obviously we are the better team over the duration - as they say the league table does not lie. If we don’t get automatic now then we only have ourselves to blame.
Well done boys!!!
No83 If you cann’t stand the heat keep out of the kitchen.Or run and tell mommy and daddy you are being bullied by the big boys ,you big girls blouse.
Boing Boing.
southbank barmy army
get a life mate or have you just found out how to use the internet ?
dont despair me old mucker wolves are a decent little club you can still look forward to perhaps a derby game with Walsall in the future or even Shrewsbury
boing boing
What a result. To beat promtion rivals away at this stage of the season is always great but beating the dingles makes it even sweeter. Terrific result. Boing!! Boing!!
Mowbray is awesome, hes got us playin great football. Just match the teams below us and we go up. To go up as champs would be a bonus. Lets start by beating norwich on saturday. BOING BOING
Great perfomance baggies. Wolves made us work hard first half, but once the goal finally went in we controlled it. BOING BOING. Man of the match could be any from Morrison, Gera, Greening, Super KEv or Clement. The back four were smashing. WE KEPT A CLEAN SHEET BOING BOING
Great win! Great performance! Great gaffer! Great Fans. We are GREAT! Give Super Kev a four year deal not one or two! He didnt score this time but he was key in the build up to the goal and he had two men on him all night.
34 Some fan when u weren’t at the game.
Wanderers will never die, we’ll keep the gold flag flyin high !!!
Wolves fans stop deluding yourselves. We’re so much better than you it’s embarassing, the league table doesn’t lie
Signing off. I had so much belief in this season but by Christmas was a nugget as I had lost all faith in MM. Although I knew the recent glimmer of hope was based on some lucky wins and the nature of this stupid league I started to believe. Not anymore. if we stay with MM next season will be the same, we have good players but lousy tactics. I listened to MM defending tonight’s performance but then saw the highlight on Sky Sports News, the goal was a joke, no one near him, they hit the bar twice and looked in a different class. Their manager knows his stuff, period. So I will stop logging onto the E&S site ten times a day as it is depressing the hell out of me. Another wasted season and no real hope. SSN did an interview with Incy tonight to celebrate his teams promotion, what a breath of fresh air, he just loves winning! Please Mr Morgan go and get him. See you in August.
Still can’t cut the mustard when it comes to the big games!
Aucklandkiwiwolf
Please Mr.Morgan,I know you are a Liverpool fan,but please buy us a team that can beat West Brom.Please.
It took until post 48 to find someone who actually sounded like an Albion fan rather than someone who just hated Wolves.
To the Albion fans who love your club, well done.
To the people who use the Albion colours to be perfectly vile week-in, week-out, good luck in the Premiership. Maybe you can get on with posting abuse at Villa and Brum supporters on their boards every week from now on. It’ll be good to have the Baggies in the Premiership as the stupid antagonism that’s posted all the time in every single Wolves news comments section might now stop.
Of course, the Express & Star could just get a grip and stop it anyway.
I have no idea where all the negative posts come from. Reality is that the Baggies had a goal, that was to get back into the Premiership.
Think of the game plan, need better players, that was their main plan. They went out an got them. Not conference guys, REAL quality players with a resume! Spend a lot of money to get them. Ok, that was what they did.
They have management that understands football and what it takes. We have an acountant (penny pusher),Builder (bob the builder comes to mind)and a muppet.
Why would it be any surprise to anyone other than the brain dead fans who can’t figure it out, that based on that the baggies are top and we are mid league. I think I lost the plot after the first game.
Get over it guys, no more posts needed. Summary, Eastwood and SEB outa here, Kightly in the reserves, Hennesey probably sold..more new rubbish players to start the season and mid league to finish. back to my pie an numerous pints…wake me when its over
#24 Accountant Wolves: very well said, that is a 1000% solid statement. This isn’t football it’s business! ask our leader Bob the Builder!
Amazing that 95% of the posts were from baggie fans! well done E&S all around news supporters..can’t complain, we had our asses kicked again…if the same was true of Morgan and MM, MM should have his ass on his shoulders by now!
Superb win.
Three more like that and we’ll be Champions.
Come on you Baggies!!!!!
89… talk about sore losers. Wolves have as equal chance as any Championship club to get promoted and you also got money for being losers.
The truth is this was an incredible result!
At this stage of the season to go to the custard bowl and win 1 - 0 ! It shows the confidence the team have and I fully expect us to go to Norwich and win. Southampton at home could be a trickier one!!! I still think we’ll be champions come the end of the season.
Nothing between the two keepers and defences. Huge difference in quality between the midfield and forwards. Compare:- superb footballer Gera right side of midfield for them, we have a 34 year old left back playing there for us. They have Phillips and Morrison, players who LOOK UP and PICK SOMEONE OUT when they have the ball in advanced areas, we have Keogh and Jarvis who don’t. They kick it anywhere. Greening out on his own. Calm, composed, never loses possession. We have Gibson, flapping away, conceding possession. No contest but fairer score would have been 6-4 to them.
Here we go again to much freedom in the midfield for greening and koren to play, another derby lost!!! mick must be the worst derby manager in wolves history. never mind the fans take the stick once more to add to the other 5 and to westbrom enjoy it why it lasts your big favourites for the drop next season.
Getting all too boring now. Can we play you every week!!!!
Put last nights performance behind us to focus on Saturday…play off place still up for grabs…Palace have to play Watford and Hull in next 2 games… a win against Ipswich and we are right back in it… Cardiff game will then be massive!! Charlton have an easier run in than most teams around us….It’s not over yet…KEEP THE GOLD FLAG FLYING HIGH!!!!!!
How the hell can any Wolves fan claim that we played well last night? No composure, no creativity, no heart. Collins, Gibson, Olofinjana and co should be ashamed of themselves and should not be anywhere near the first team next year. Albion were head and shoulders above us in every department and 3-0 wouldn’t of flattered them to be honest. We need 6 players in the summer and a new first team coach, all the problems started when Taff Evans left, it’s not McCarthy that’s the problem, it’s Terry Connor, how the hell can professional footballers suddenly play so average? It’s all in the coaching. Well done Albion, best team i’ve seen this season, as much as that hurts!
Somebody (wolves fan 121) mentioned about us spending loads of money on our players…taking the pee out the poor boy?? WAT?? Jeez it’s banter and I’m sure it would have been different on the other foot! Anyway we have to spend money on good quality cus we’re going in the Prem baby!
Well done Baggy boys!! Words can’t describe how happy I am! How good are Derby games ay?! Spesh when you win em!!!
Commitment and endevour were not enough. Yes we tried till we dropped but were not good enough.
If next season is to change then with commitment we need quality and composure.
The question is then is MM the man that can give us this? I think not.
Although still in with a shout it is NOT GOOD ENOUGH we have under achieved badly this season
If by some lucky chance we get promoted next year will be frightening, we could end up with less points than Derby, we do not want that.
We have seen all season MM has not had the bottle to make the correct decision on the pitch, lets now see if the board can make the right decision behind the scene.
Let’s be honest we know really that we’re just not good enough for promotion.
No real bite all season up front and that’s what wins games.
If we had had gone up we would have needed a whole new squad to compete and that would never have happened.
“so it’s just like taking the pee out of a poor person for having worse clothes or something”
We do apologise for taking the mickey out of the deprieved pmsl.
Just to note all week we have heard about how bad is West brom’s defense, but amazingly Wolves have’nt scored against us this season.
We’ve heard all about Ebanks Blake’s hat trick!
I’m still waiting
We’ve heard about our bubble bursting.
It made a big splash at molinuex last night.
Were now hearing how we are going over the top after we won.
And if the result was reversed would this site be utter silence from Wolves fans???
Lick your wounds Wolves, you should be used to losing to us by now.
WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE.
(Terry the waters are goodd today you’ll get some bites today mate)
Yes 84- Rowley Baggie - you will need the points next season - you wont cope with the Prem - AGAIN
I can’t believe all the Mick haters are back so quick. Our seasons not over yet!
It does seem that we were outplayed last night though, but surely most of us weren’t confident of a win anyway?
Up until this recent spell, the faggies have always lived in our shadow, so let them have their pinch of glory for now, it won’t last. Sandwell is a tinpot town with tinpot people that will soon enough be back to where it belongs. They haven’t even got their own local rag to gloat about their results in, so they have to use ours. Oh and why do some of their mongtard fans keep on saying ‘Cum on the baggies’, i’m sure that you can get locked up for that sort of thing. Face it faggies, you’ve got your little moment for now, but you’ll always be a smaller club, from a smaller town with a smaller history, a smaller future and a smaller fanbase.
if you think wolves are playing crap…I am having to endure watching Blackpool, thats a fate worse than death.. albion to go up…maybe.
OK, so we beat the wulfs…..we still have 3 cup finals to play, nothing is yet decided.
As every Albion fan knows, we can beat anybody on our day BUT can also lose to anybody as well (we have lost 11 games this season!!).
Lets finish the job off before we start the celebrations. Boing Boing!!!
We lack the same quality as the Tescos I’m sorry to say and our passing wasn’t as good as theirs. As usual Freddie comes on for 10 mins about 82 mins TOO LATE! SEB winning that award was the kiss of death. It was an entertaining game, but as I said we just lack the bit of quality they have.
I’ll say it again we should have bought Joe Ledley ans we need a couple of decent defenders. We have to have a little clear out come the end of the season!
Once again the Black Country bragging rights split down the middle. Wolves had them up until the match started we had them after the final whistle.
Was sick as parrot after the game. I thought Gibson was rubbish and should not have played. George had a bad game which is never a good sign. But, I still have faith in McCarthy to get it right. We can still get into the play-offs, if we don’t, so be it. Good luck to WBA in the premiership (almost there). Hopefully we will have more great derbys in the top flight when wolves join you.
50 Ancient Wolf.
Please reveal your true identity and the high level of sport you have competed at. Then tell us what it’s got to do with football fans having a laugh together.
Well Said 150, Its in my blood (20) - Thats a bloody laugh why do you bother even writing on here Im sure your a baggies fan!!!! Well done West Brom better team won… Man of the man for wolves is Gray…. Come on wolves fans keep going unless you want to be like some of the losers on here slatting our own club all the time and thats all they do…
Why oh why do most of you stoop so low, talk about foul and abusive?? OK the baggies won and are probably the best team in this league at the moment. We WWFC are rebuilding and will be back sooner or later and then we shall be back to the glory days. Over the years it is probably an even split with WWFC coming out on top thru the 1950’s and early 60’s, everything is cyclic unless you have the millions the top 5 or 6 in the Prem have. So come on lads calm it down!
BAGGIES a class above the dingles, won it at a stroll.Lets CARRY ON AND FINISH THE JOB
Not a lot to say, totally out played, out passed, out classed. There’s only two players who would get into albions side, Hennessey and SEB.
At the end of the day, we just arn’t good enough and always bottle it on the big stage at home.
Darren Gibson couldn’t care less about the meaning of this derby, he’s happy enough to pick up his wage and head back to Man Utd and play with Rooney and Ronaldo.
Craddock and Collins, not good enough. Yes Craddock can tackle but his passing and distribution is terrible. Collins is just Collins. How he plays professional football, i don’t know.
Elokobi and Foley? Too many mistakes. Yes they can run and tackle but again, there distribution is not at the standard you need to go up. What was Elokobi doing on the goal? He just stood there n let Gera run past him n tap it in!
And again, he changes the shape, puts Keogh onto the right wing and Freddy up top.
When will Mick realise this doesn’t work! Keogh can’t play right wing!
I’d still give Mick another season, let’s see how we do with Kightly fully fit and perhaps one or two better defenders.
But i’m worried we’ll lose Hennessey in the summer.
SBBA.
Hard luck about the game but you must have a good manager at your Burger King to let you off at nine o’clock.
Re my post 97 - sorry for it being just slightly over the top. I returned home “tired and emotional” last night - in fact i was tired and emotional as a newt !!
Its too early and my head hurts too much to dissect the game yet but I will return after coffee !!
Ugh.
we were the better team first half but wasted/missed our chances. lets face it wolves we cold have lost that by more. they played us off the park 2cnd half. not good enough yet. one more season in this league may be a good thing for us. unlucky wolves….well played baggies.
A post from a real football fan. Last night the atmosphere was electric, no other derby in britain is close to this one. I feel wolves were the better side until albion scored then the way they kept the ball was frustrating but very impressive i must say. The ref gave everything albions way in the first 45 mins i saw mc carthy going spare at the 4th official and mowbray was his usual didnt care no passion self. phillips didnt look interested last night not the same effort as last season i think he knows his future is elsewhere and has to be miss of the season surely? wolves had an average age of 21 last night with only 3 experienced heads our kids did us proud and outfought the baggies for long periods. i think both clubs will get promoted with hull to win the league. albion need 6-7 players to stay up in the prem, robinson wont move because he cant pass medicals, gera will be lucky to get a move to wigan hes not a prem player and phillips will be gone, hoefkens has slated the club and area in his native country and dean kiely slated your fans, boing boing for now albion lets see whos laghing in the premiership next season. well done to both sets of fans THE BEST DERBY IN THE COUNTRY.
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
brilliant night again at the mol
now can all wolves fans please be quite you have been put in your place again
Absolutely awesome display of courage and determination - not to mention skill and attacking flair. Read it and weep you sad sad dingles!
Well done Wolves last night. I thought one goal would nick it but a true testament to the Championship.
Four games left and I reckon we can get all 12 point. COME ON YOU WOLVES!
NATHAN WOLVES,MALVERN WOLF ,LOYAL CANNOCK WOLF,SOUTHBANK BARMEY ARMY, MALVERN WOLF,IIFORD WOLF GOLD ‘N’BLACK WOLF ,BRIDGET AND TONY ,SIR JACK HAYWARD,RACHEL HAYOE FLINT ,ROBERT PLANT,BILLY WRIGHT ,STAN COLLYMORE,DAN GOODMAN,STEVE BULL.YOU BOYS TOOK ONE OF A BEATING(AGAIN!!)
Well done Albion, thought the team were very good last night. Your support was a bit rubbish though, didnt hear any singing until you scored. Even then I expected more.
Still football isnt about who sings loudest I suppose.
You just need to hope that Mowbray spends the money on some good defenders to keep you up.
Good morning Everyone,
The Sun is out over Sandwell again this morning. I notice things are a little quiet from the Dingles! In the words of Delia Smith, “Where are you Southbank, where are you?”
Is it going to be Merlin Mick or McCarthy out this morning or haven’t you decided yet?.
EGG ON FACES AFTER SHOUTING HIS MOUTH OFF THE SOUTHBANK WAY… PLAYOFF CHANCES IN TATTERS…IN STYLE OF COURSE….OH YES!!!!
BOING BOING
150 Mark.
Yes but a great PRESENT. By the way, how does it feel for such a world renowned, massively historic, big city super club to be dominated by a tiny tinpot little club for so many years. Us Boggies are just like little kids with our noses pressed against the sweet shop window. Still, we can dream.
Bad luck wolves but we didn’t turn up for the second half.
Must win against Ipswich on Saturday back SEB to find his scoring boots
although i respect thick mick, i cant wait for him to go….tatically he hasnt a clue.
subs should have made earlier & regardless of a feud with Eastwood the bloke will leave the club & we will never know if he was any good or not..
play him every game thats left Mick or youve wasted OUR money!
Gibson should have been off at halftime followed by Andy K 10 minutes later…
.
.
just a message to “south bank barmy army”and”loyal cannock wolf”time to face facts lads WE’RE JUST TOO GOOD FOR YOU FULL STOP.
as they say
“GOING UP THE MOWBRAY WAY”
rowley-tipton baggie - you do realise getting there is the hard bit for us but do you forget we have a rich chairman, you have a poor one, when we are playing derbys in the prem we will have the 30 mill squad and revenge will be sweet!
170 + comments already, where were you over the last few days ?, popped up now you have something to shout about, most of you weren’t at the game but still seem to know everything, have your moments - you deserve them, but a little humility can go a long way - look it up if you have a dictionary
Sutton, I could argue but I won’t so I will just say thank you for thinking of me ( twice).
I thought it was an entertaining game rather than a great football match, but at this stage of the season it was about getting a job done and collecting three points. Contrasting styles of play, Wolves played with passion but their lack of quality in the final third showed in the end.
Gray played well, Collins does not look good enough yet for the first team, and SEB suffered at the hands of the experience of Clement. Jarvis looked threatening but failed to pick out a striker with a number of crosses. Albion on the other hand looked comfortable in all areas of the pitch, Greening was so cool, Koren busy, and we should have known Phillips would prove the difference between the sides. I am not gloating, just my honest opinion on how the game went, still think Wolves will make the playoffs due to how many home games you have left. Two wins from the remaining three should see the Baggies as champions, im still nervous though.
BAGGIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
WELL DONE BOYS, CRACKING PERFORMANCE.
ID OV PAID AN EXTRA £50 TO WATCH THAT MATCH AGAIN. BOING BOING.
SOUTH BANK, HAHA SHHHHHHHHH!!
WERE JUST TO GOOD FOR YOU!!
WELL DONE LADS. LETS DO THE SAME AT NORWICH SATURDAY
Baggies have to go up,…Somebody has to replace Derby, the other 19 teams need Tescos to prop up the prem.
You’re still and always will be ” Just a Bus Stop in Handsworth”
Albion Deserved it end of, we were poor, luck for the play-offs now.
you have to laugh at these bitter dingles
what planet are they from
the same one as mm i reckon
theres was only ever going to be one winner
and class showed all night
we had wolves chasing shadows with our slick passing
1-0 in your cup final dingles
easy easy easy easy easy
simply” the best team won”..stourport Wolves..
WHO PUT THE BALL IN THE DINGLES NET
WHO PUT THE BALL IN THE DINGLES NET
WHO PUT THE BALL IN THE DINGLES NET
SUPER ZOLTON GERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STOP MOANING NOW DINGLETS,,,,,youve been given a football lesson by supa mowbrays babbies and youve now seen what lovely football we play just stand back and admire us,,,,,,GOING UP THE MOWBRAY WAY,,,IN STYLE WITH PURE FOOTBALL OF COURSE,,,,OH YES
on the night quality won over “hoof and puff” football. loads of effort but no quality. simple as that.
even under pressure they kept the ball better didnt panic (until last five minutes where it was anywhere will do) i can accept defeat under most circumstances, but if MM picks oli and gibson in midfield again he deserves to be shot! never rated oli he has a turn circle of a tank, passing is poor and cant shoot, so whats the point in having him on the pitch let alone has our attacking midfielder??
then you look at greening (albions best player on night in my view) comfortable on ball, moves the ball when necessary to one of HIS players, and must of covered the whole of the pitch many times over.
ok so positives do i take from game……. erm the fact we have a young side, suppose thats all really. felt a bit sorry for SEB and keogh last night wasnt even feeding off scraps, they had to run back into our own half to try and create something and they are our strikers!! keogh and SEB were trying to do it all on there own, and rightly so because the midfield was so poor for us. i like players to “put a shift in” but sick of hearing that now,is it to much to ask for a bit of quality on the ball, distribution and keeping the ball??? not going to call for micks head yet, still 4 games left, and will pass my judgement then.
fairplay to the baggies though came to our place, turned us over and made us look silly in the process……….
remind me again why im a wolves fan again lol
fair play to the baggies better team won on the night, wolves didnt create enough chances end of.
don’t agree with gibson in midfield he ain’t done enough since he came here to warrent a start
keogh was struggling for 30mins before he managed to win a header
jarvis and hennessey and only ones to come out of game with credit for wolves all the rest were average
still in with a shout but must win against ipswich now or i fear it will be a failure for this season
Michael (Several posts) Put your dummy back in we are a class above just deal with it.
It’s clear from the time of the early posts that many of you don’t go to the games (sorry southbank barmy army, doesn’t sound credible that you would miss this match!)The first half was well contested, with Wolves shading it. Albion played Wolves off the park in the second half. Tactically Albion are on a different planet and this has to be down to the manager and coaching staff. I would love Wolves to be competing in the Prem but I don’t see how we can ever survive. Portsmouth, West Ham, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Wigan, Reading, Bolton, Fulham, Blackburn; any one could fall through the trapdoor any time, yet any of them would be too strong for the best in the Championship. Wolves could still win the last four matches and gain a playoff place (without the threat of the best team in the division to stop them). Albion played well last night and deserved their win but (sour grapes time!) I can’t help thinking that in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.
KEOGH-Donkey(Headless Chicken with no end product)
GIBSON-(why is he playin instead of Rosa?)
OLIFINJANA-(so so inconsistent)
COLLINS-(Dopiest Clown eva seen)
FOLEY-(Never attacks,Play MARK LITTLE instead)
ELOKOBI-(Pub Player, wouldnt get in Albions Reserves)
MICK MCARTHY-(Worst Manager we have eva had)
Mick, how the **** can you say we played well and deserved something from the game? You are the biggest joke i have eva heard! You talk about effort, commitment,’Puttin a Shift In’ but what the hell will that achieve? NOTHING!!!! Go and learn off Mowbray and you might learn that CLASS and QUALITY is wot u need! You talk out your backside you arrogant BEEP!
STEVE MORGAN- If you want YOUR club to join liverpool in the premier league, open your eyes, get rid off McCarthy and his fat mate Jez Moxey and appoint a ambitious, young manager in PAUL INCE!
JEX MOXEY- You are a money grabbing BEEP who just wants to fill your pockets from OUR club. What Good ahve you ever done for our club?NOTHING!!!!
THERES ONLY 1 PAUL INCE
MAD MICK OUT!!!!
Not sure which makes worse reading, the gloating Baggies or the bleating Wolfies. You did deserve to win but we were not outclassed and on another night we could have won. Sadly for us however it was last night so we go our seperate ways. You will go up automatically unless you fall apart and we can still make the playoffs if we play like we have been doing the last few weeks. I love the banter and the humour and love the sharing of opinions but the rest of it you can stick it………..
Bye Bye Mick McCarthy and thanks for the 4 points this season !
Easy, easy, easy , easy, easy , easy, easy , easy, easy , easy, easy , easy, easy , easy, easy
Gutted, it always hurts losing, especially to Sandwell, and especially when it is apparent they have the better team at the moment.
What we need to do now though to rescue anything from this season is to pick ourselves up for Saturday. We need to try and ignore them from up the road, that distraction is now over with and we need to concentrate on making the play offs, anything less and this season will of been wasted
post 133 - c’mon now mate! forget buying a team to beat the baggies! they’ve shown over the last 10yrs that biding your time, sticking with a GOOD manager (take note Jez… DJ’s going to Wembley you muppet…), getting promoted, getting relegated (with the considerable parachute payments…), and not spending willy nilly (for example, like signing 50 strikers in one season and not playing them.. i can think of a few more..) means real growth nowadays. Think about it, what we’re seeing down the road now are the fruits of seeds planted when the Ginger Mourinho took over. I CAN’T STAND to see it, and i’m GUTTED it’s the Tesco’s, not us, but you have to respect their business plan, and see how it’s working. In many ways, we do need to strive to be like them, at least in the business sense. Well done Boggies, you deserve your 3pts and, should you be in the top two at the end of the season, you will have thoroughly deserved that too.
course, in an ideal world, we’d both be going up - there’d be no derby like the Black Country derby in ther Premier league!!
no wolves fans… we don’t need to look at MM.. everyone has got quite a good idea as to the capabilities of this man. he’s good, but not right.
we don’t need to look at Jez anymore either. We’ve all seen the decision’s he’s made. We all see that slimy ‘i want to be Peter Kenyon SOO BADLY’ look he gives everytime he’s pictured at Molinueax…
WE KNOW what to expect from these two. So i plead. Mr Morgan. You’re coming up to your first end of seaon with the greatest football club in the world. use it wisely, start planning for future suc
