Walsall manager Richard Money has set his side a target of more than 70 points for a chance of making the play-offs.
Saddlers’ hard-earned victory over Cheltenham and Leeds’ win against Carlisle means the race for sixth place hasn’t altered at the beginning of a week which could decide Walsall’s season.
Leeds’ independent tribunal, which will decide if they are to be handed back any of the 15 points docked by the Football League, begins on Wednesday and a decision is expected before the weekend’s matches.
But it would be a shock if the points were returned and Money is just concentrating on getting over the 70-point barrier, which effectively means three wins from their last four.
“Leeds have a tough game at Huddersfield tomorrow and then at Millwall on Saturday and they are not easy fixtures,” Money said.
“I think 63 points is a really good effort and if we can get into the 70s then it would give us half a chance.
“Those that came to Cheltenham know that we’ve given everything again and if we can stick together like we did at the last home game and get to next Saturday with 69 points it would be interesting, so let’s see what happens.”
Money admitted that the disappointing run of form in March and the home defeats to Northampton and Brighton may turn out to be the deciding factor.
“We had some very tough away games. It was the two home games against Northampton and Brighton really that put us under a little bit of pressure.
“They were the two results that we didn’t want because we always knew the away games were going to be tough in that period.”
