Walsall manager Richard Money has set a target of five wins from their five remaining matches if their play-off dream is to materialise.
The victory over Tranmere kept Saddlers’ hopes alive after a poor run of form saw them lose ground at a time when their rivals had begun to pick up.
The three points put them right back in the frame with perhaps the least challenging run-in of all the contenders.
“We’ll aim to try and win our last five games and let’s see where that takes us,” Money said.”If we don’t then we’ll try and win as many as we can and see where that takes us.
“I think that’s the only way we can approach it. The win over Tranmere was a very important result, there’s no doubt about it.”
Money has also praised the contributions of midfielders Alassane N’Dour and Michael Dobson.
Senegal international N’Dour was making his first start for the club after being limited to five substitute appearances since his move to Walsall, while Dobson had recovered from a foot injury sustained against Crewe, which meant he missed the defeat at Southend.
“What N’Dour and Dobson give us in there is a bit of calmness at the right time,” Money said. “They got hold of the ball well and enabled us to play with a bit of quality at the right time.
N’Dour capped his performance with his first Saddlers goal and earned himself a place in the League One Team of the Week in the process.

DICKIE DOSH’S Barmy Army!!

A win at Cheltenham and i shall start believing in the miracle.
WHO IS HE KIDDING?
we have only won 2 succesive games on 2 occasions this season. So how can we be expected to win 5 on a trot now. I think 3 wins and two draws would be a good finish to the season as it would ensure we finish in the top 10 and i would have settled for that begining of the season and certainly at the end of september
I’m with JWDavis, if we can get a win on Sat I might start to believe it. But it’s true, we just don’t win consecutive games that often regardless of who we’re playing. Mattsaddler’s assessment is more likely. We stand a reasonable chance of going unbeaten til the end of the season but not a perfect record and I don’t think unbeaten will get us into the playoffs. March saw to that.
5 goals would suit me!
