From Bluebird to Scholar

Turning from a Bluebird to a Scholar at least for a day, a Cardiff City supporter sponsored the match ball at Chasetown to show his admiration for the team’s FA Cup performance.

Huw Williams was so impressed by the club when he watched that legendary third round tie in January that he wanted to show his appreciation. He temporarily switched allegiances joining the ranks of Chasetown supporters in the Scholars’ home derby clash against Willenhall on Saturday which they won 1-0. The 46-year-old from Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd, said: “It’s been a great day, I’m really enjoying it. Everyone has been so friendly.

“I think the partnership between Cardiff and Chasetown will go on. There is talk that there may be a pre-season friendly between the two so if all that goes to plan that will be a good day out.

“Basically, they were the underdogs in the FA Cup, they did so well to get so far and in the third round they gave us such a good game that at half time I would have taken a draw.”

Mr Williams runs Woodsmoke Fire Safety consultants.
