Wolves winger back next week

Wolves could be set for a major boost after Michael Kightly pencilled himself in for his comeback next week.

The winger, who returned to training this week, hopes to train with the first team on Monday and if he comes through with no reaction to his ankle injury, aims to play for the second string at Oldham on Wednesday.

“I’m hoping to train on Monday with the full squad with a view to playing in the reserves on Wednesday,” said Kightly.

“I’ve got to be patient – if it takes two weeks, it takes two weeks and if it takes a month, it takes a month. I’ll come back when I’m ready.

“I wouldn’t say I’m ready to go. But as far as the ankle is concerned, it’s never felt better.

“And for me to be kicking balls the way I was in training on Thuraday and yesterday – I think I’ve done everything now to prove I’m fit enough to train.

“I’ve got today and tomorrow off to try to let the wound heal, then it’s it’s alright I can train with the first team on Monday.

“There was no reaction. There’s still a bit of fluid leaking out which we’ve got to keep on top of, but the wounds looks good.

“I knew as soon as I had the operation that it was much better because before there were certain movements I could do to make the pain come on, but now there’s none.”

Boss Mick McCarthy remains cautious about Kightly returning this season however.

He said: “The physios are delighted with the way his rehab is going, but I’m not going to put any time limit on it.

“When players start coming back (from injury), they’re very bullish as soon as they start feeling anything like being fit.

“That’s when they require the physio, doctor and manager to have common sense.

“He’s feeling good because he’s outside training with the physios, but then he’s got to work with Tony Daley (fitness coach), then he’s got to get involved with the team and only then will you find out whether you can play.

“If he’s back, let’s enjoy it, if not then we’ll have him back for next season.”

For God`s sake keep him away from sick note Tony and his motley crew, then maybe we will see him back for the albion game.

Lets hope to God he doesn’t break down again but with Tony Daley as fitness coach who knows!

As much as you all have indepth knowledge of Tony Daley and his quality as a fitness coach and his apparent wish to sabotage everything Wolverhampton Wanderers related.

We never had any injuries before Tony did we?

Lescott and Murray never missed you Prem season.

Absolutely fantastic news! If he could be back for the Albion game, OH YES! How ironic that his first proper game back, would be against the opposition where he got injured. PLEASE GOD, BLESS OUR KIGHTLY’s ANKLES AND KEEP HIM SAFE FROM CRAP PHYSIOS! AHMEN
COME ON WOLVES AND PLAY UP POMPEY!!!

Top news! As long as he is ready for the Baggies game , I will be very satisfied. Just the idea of another Kites vs. Robinson encounter will whet the apetite for hopefully yet another fantastic derby match!

Thats great news. Well timed to let WBA know that Kightly will be ready to tear them apart a week on Tuesday!

I don’t worry that Robinson will target him because he won’t get near him. And after a while he’ll probably get frustrated and get himself sent off for a lunge.

This break has come at the perfect time for us. We can get Edwards and Kightly back fully fit and rest players so they’re ready for the photo finish.

    Come on you Wolves

Rarely have I seen such rubbish posted on this site!
Kightly has weeping ‘wounds’. Exactly when was the operation? What happens to the freshly healed wounds when there is real contact by Robinson type defenders? Remember it was Robinson who went for him over a year ago at the Mol and it was Robinson who did Kightly this season! Listen to what McCarthy says. He won’t risk him - especially having brought him back too early in the winter!
And what exactly are the reasons for some people taking the Mickey and stating that Tony Daley is not a very good physio?

  13. southbank barmy army said:

if kightly is almost ready..just give him a few reserve games between now and the end of the season. bring him back for the play off first leg, it now appears the current team are good enough to keep us in the top 6, so keep kites for the business end when we will really need him the most.

Dingles, it seems the highlight of your day was watching baggies at Wembley yesterday! Idiots. I was there and we played Pompy off the park, unlucky handball and were out! So to all you thick, oh so thick dingles, I am proud of my team and still cheered them at the end! Even the Pompy fans said at the end, we were the better team. I am now convinced we will go up automatic! Boing boing!

  34. Bankstown Wolf said:

Had a wry smile on my face when i read Phillips whinging on about cheats in football.I still remember the Southampton game away a few seasons back, when he “brushed” against Denis Irwin, well outside the box, yet managed to throw, dive and roll himself into the area to con the ref into giving a pen. Then got up to make his usual offensive gestures to the opposition fans. He might be a proven goalscorer but that doesnt stop him from being an objectionable human being. Remember KP what goes round comes round.
    Keep the faith.
    Out of darkness.

  35. Bankstown Wolf said:

Did you see Carson playing for Villa on MOTD. He flapped at every cross that came near him. Not in the same class as a fully fit Murray or a still learning Hennessy. If we have to sell one lets make sure we get what they are worth.
    Keep the faith.
    Out of darkness.

  37. Filtonwolf (Bristol) said:

    23. Wiseguy….. wise ?? I don’t think so !! Get a life mate. I tried to comment on the ‘other side ‘ just now and I don’t think the E&S will allow me to post. I wanted to say that I think you were robbed… it was a definite hand ball and Pompey were extremely lucky. In your post you go on to insult every Wolves fan …. der….why ?? Was being beaten too much for you so that you had to lash out somewhere ?? I suppose the Wolves were responsible !!! Just grow up mate and learn to accept that these things happen.

A quick note for Terry….Baggie whatever name you’re going under at the moment. I was going to post last Friday that you were heading for a fall with all your confidence ut …. no … I thought I’d wait until after the match and say where are you now mate ? Put your fishing rods away for the time being ?? Speak to you soon mate.

A more friendly note for Happy and Bomber if you’re out there. Hard luck mates you were definitely robbed with that Pompey goal. Let’s just hope that both of us can get in to the promised land by the end of the season.

  38. Filtonwolf (Bristol) said:

I forgot to add that I hope to God Kites is really fit ‘cos if he aint he could do real bad damage to that ankle. We want him 100% fit for next season.

  39. No ifs or buts said:

8 Something to be happy about?

What about 4 away wins in a row and 6th in a poor season! THe problem is the Molineux moaners on the players backs, like the idiots that booed Andy Keogh.

4 out of the last 6 at home should be good but we need to support the players not pile in the pressure. Kites coming back could be a boost, but maybe for the playoffs not the regular season.

    Support the Wolves

  40. Gaz said:

What a rubbish headline and basically pointless article. I’d love to have him back as much as anyone else but surely a weeping wound means that its still not healed? The team has done well enough without him so why not give them a chance and when kites is actually fully fit bring him back slowly, the team has changed since he’s been gone and we no longer rely on the guy, whens hes back to his best then let him back and improve the squad but common sense needs to prevail on this one.

A great day for us despite not playing. We could easily have dropped two or three places but we are still 6th. If we can win at Bristol who are still top, we would be seven points behind with two games in hand. Anything is possible if you believe.

  51. DudzieWolf said:

What great news about Kites(read the Headline), not too soon tho. I want him back 100%, a couple of reserve outings should do the trick and then have him back on the bench for the Ipswich game hopefully. Give Gray the first 2/3rds then 30 mins for Kites, that should ween him back at the right pace. Things are looking a lot lot better now. Just need a Stoke - Palace draw tonight, Blackpool doing the Faggies tomorrow night we beating Bristol Wales on Saturday and that should set us up nicely for the last five games. Four of which will be at home. So lets just all get behind them for that final push

  52. carl_wolves said:

very civilised comments about ‘robbo’ injuring him again. What an urbane bunch of intellectuals they are in Sandwell. Paul Robinson makes up for his complete lack of talent by becoming nothing more than an unevolved thug. Up The wolves.

As for you sicko Albion lot who want to see Kights getting injured you’re a disgrace to all Albion fans. How would you like it if you were hit by a bus and a crowd stood around you clapping and cheering for you to bleed to death……probably not allowed out of the care home though so wouldn’t get near a bus

Basically Pompey were very poor, especially first half, must be very difficult for them to get too excited because of the poor opposition. Pompey looked half asleep and made WBA look good, having said that it is goals that win games and WBA just looked ordinary in the box. To lose at Wembley twice in a season is really going to hurt.
