Beacon League April 6 and 13 news

goal.jpgDivision Two side Oakdale Social are hoping to cause an upset (Sunday, April 13) when they face Division One promotion contenders Pensnett Panthers for a place in the Lester Charity Cup final.

An impressive unbeaten league record this season backs up Oakdale’s fine cup run.

Even though they are aiming for promotion themselves to the first division, Oakdale will have to be at their best if they are to send Pensnett crashing out at the semi-final stage.

The second semi-final will see recently crowned Lawsons Premiership champions AFC Codsall compete against fellow top division outfit Sedgley White Lions West.

Codsall will hope to make yet another final appearance in what has been an impressive campaign so far.

However, Sedgley, who sit in forth place behind Codsall, will have other ideas and may fancy their chances in the one off fixture.

Call Print Division Two is set to boast the most matches tomorrow, with leaders Verson Park Rangers out to extend their lead at the top.

Rangers face a tough test away to Jolly Sailor as they aim to take advantage of second place Oakdale Social’s cup fixture.

Third placed Codsall Athletic face a potentially difficult match against Coven Colts at home.

Despite only losing two matches all season Codsall will play a Coven side that will be looking to move further from the foot of the table.

Last week’s adverse weather conditions saw only two Beacon League fixtures played.

Sedgley White Lions East put four past AC Harborne in Call Print Division Two.

A brace from star man Brett Nightingale helped his team take all three points away from home.

Other goals from Stuart Baker and Christian Patel made sure there was no way back for Harborne, who hit a consolation through Daniel Sheldon.

Second from bottom Sedgley Scorpions failed to move away from the bottom end of Call Print Division Two as they suffered a heavy home defeat to local rivals Sedgley Park.

Two strikes from Sedgley Park player French and goals from Hickman, Prince, Brackpool, Smith and Jennings set up a 9-0 away win for the visitors.
