Wolves squad rested for run-in

mick2.jpgMick McCarthy has handed his Wolves squad a few days’ rest as he revealed he’s not worried about losing ground in the play-off race this weekend.

Wolves will have gone a fortnight without playing at a crucial stage of the season by the time they travel to Bristol City in eight days’ time.

McCarthy’s men could be down to ninth by the time they go to Ashton Gate if Ipswich, Plymouth and Crystal Palace all win over the next three days.

But McCarthy, who joined some of his players and staff at the club’s charity golf day at Steve Morgan’s Cardon Park yesterday, isn’t concerned.

“We won’t have played for two weeks but I don’t worry about that,” said McCarthy.

“You never know – we might come back and still be in the top six, but we might be 10th. That’s something I cannot do one iota about, so why worry about it?

“We’ll have a couple of days off this weekend and the lads can do something with their wives and girlfriends or whatever they want to do.

“Then we’ll come back again and start working again and preparing for the next one.

“We haven’t got anything special planned. Some of us had a charity golf day yesterday because we were due to play Cardiff on the Sunday so that would have normally been our day off.”

McCarthy re-iterated his desire to play the sides around them in the run-in.

“When you’re playing for your dinner, it’s like running for your life,” he said. “I don’t want to play bottom of the league teams, I want to play teams around us.

“That was proved last Saturday because at times Charlton suffered the nervousness we’ve suffered at Molineux.

“We dented Charlton’s promotion hopes and boosted ours, and we’ve got Ipswich, Plymouth, Bristol City and West Brom to play.”

The thing is in this division, more or less every team has something to play for this season.
As we have 4 home games and 2 away games with big away followings, if the fans get behind the team, we will stroll into the play offs!

We just need to ensure that for the last four home games the fans get right behind the team and get the place rocking again like last year, sadly, (and to be fair some of the football on show has an effect on this), this year weve been too muted on too many occasions. We all want the same thing so lets make some noise, theres no beter place or feeling than a full loud Molineux!!

to be honest, 4 home games and 2 away, one of whom is Coventry. So it’s in our own hands, and i can’t see why we won’t make the playoffs with the games we have. Infact it would be disasterous.

we don’t make the play offs and Mick better hope he can dig a tunnel under the ground.

all we ask the wolves fans to do in the next six games is to get behind the team and anything can happen.

KEEP PLAYING WELL AND A PLAY OFF PLACE IS OURS. A BREAK AT THIS TIME IS EXCELLENT, WE CAN REST UP AND COME BACK FIT AND FRESH AND RARING TO GO, WHERE AS MOST OF THE TEAMS AROUND US WILL BE CONTINUALLY PLAYING THUS WEARING THEM DOWN. IT’S ALL IN OUR OWN HANDS, OK WE MAY DROP A FEW PLACES BEFORE OUR NEXT MATCH, BUT OUR GAMES IN HAND WILL INCREASE ALSO.

MAKIN’ THE PLAY OFFS THE MCARTHY WAY..IN STYLE OF COURSE.. OH YES.

This is the sort of thing the fans dont want to hear, a day out at the “owners” golf club, most would build on the great win at the weekend, what a PR disaster again for the club.

Lets just get behind the lads.

We are all a team and should work together :)

    Come on Wolves!!

Old Timer Wolf, you may be old, but you are still very childish. Do I not sing Freddy’s praises loudly and often enough? Dare I have an opinion that is different to yours?

MM had a bad spell in November/ December. Anyone could see that. We are playing good football now though, and are in with a shout of the play-offs. It can’t all be despite McCarthy.

You just love being negative, and are part of the clan that got us our prestigious award of the Prawn Sandwich. You idiots think you are the true supporters, and yet you have held us back for years by hounding out manager after manager. Every time one goes we have to start all over again, and sure enough the replacement for the one we had then becomes the brunt of your negativity. You and your kind are not old-timers. You are dinosaurs that no club needs. You sweep through our club like a cancer, creating doom and gloom wherever you go. Look at what has happened at Newcastle, and you will see what your kindred spirits there have done to them as well. Everyone knows they should be a top team, but fans like you at their place have also hounded out manager after manager, and they have struggled against relegation again.

As for mantras, all you know is “Mick out.” You may be an old timer, but time has taught you nothing. I find the negativity nerds like you on here pathetic. It’s time you realised the damage you have done to our great club, and shut up with your miserable drivel. You must be a joy to live with. It must be like living with Victor Meldrew.

I’d prefer it the other way round. We are better away because the players can relax without the boo boys on their backs at home.

Having a season ticket and doing some stupid things to get to a home game like binning a £3k bonus to fly back for a Tuesday night game against Sheff Weds when I could have stayed for 24 hours to clinch my pay day says I have a say. Molineux has been awful this season. I have a 200+mile round trip to watch a game and spend most of my time getting up for people on my row who turn up late then leave early for another pint then go for a p then leave the game early for another pint or to miss the traffic. I sit in it every week. Its that bad I don’t get to Penkridge til 6 but at least I get a pink.

I ask this question of the boo boys. What is your priority? ‘Support’ of the Wolves, or your hatred of the Albion? Listen to the chants. Most are anti-Albion. How about loving the Wolves rather than hating them.

Its not Mick, the board or the players that have screwed this season, its us. I include myself in this. I never boo but I could cheer more. 4 home games 2 away. With our ‘fans’ no chance

I am 100% behind MM! If we do not make the playoffs then sack him. If we do and lose sack him. If we get promoted say thank you and then sack him. He has my 100% support for six games. God forbid we have to endure another season like this one. Big Sam and Ince, dream team.

What a load of rubbish,,(Breretonwolf,Prestonwolf)how can you blame Newcastles situation,or our,in your words screwed up season on the Fans. Both clubs have some of the best Fans in the country,,when teams are successful, who is it that gets the credit, the manager,,the players,or the Fans.I can see the headlines now,,Wolves Fans Gain Promotion,,,,new contracts, and promotion bonuses paid to wolves Fans,,Idont think so..The Fans are the club,,and iff we think we are not getting value for money we are entitled to complain,,and our way of complaining is to Boo,,what do you want us to do write a letter of complaint. And Preston,, last season I was travelling back from Spain at the weekends to watch the Wolves,,your not the only one to travell a bit,but I Boo like hell,as well as use the odd profanity iff I think its needed..I pay my money every week,so in my mind I have the right…as we speak Newcastle Fans are beating Reading 2-0,,just slipped a bit of sarcasm in there..

  20. Breretonwolf said:

Pedro Enrique sarcasm is only any good if you don’t need to announce it.

You can boo all you like. Don’t then complain if the opposition get a lift, and our younger players heads go down. You and your lot are pathetic, and have cost this club dear. Every couple of years you drive managers out. When those managers in turn are driven out, it is never your fault.

What have you achieved in football? Have you played professionally? Mick has. Have you managed more than one team to promotion? Mick has. Have you managed an international team to a World Cup Quarter-final after your supposedly star man has thrown his rattle out of the pram? Mick did. Have you had not one, but two international teams come looking for you to manage them this season? Mick has. Have you turned down the chance to treble your wages this season, and turned it down? Mick has. Guess which of the two of you is more qualified to manage Wolves. I’ll give you a clue. IT’S NOT YOU!! (”Just slipped a bit of sarcasm in there.”) (In case you missed it.)

Jez, why don’t you just get a life and leave these boards alone. You will be sacked at the end of this season, and your pathetic attempts to try and justify the crap that has been feeding to the fans this season just isn’t working.

We are not idiots that you can manipulate. We are fans that trust. And when we find out that we have been manipulated, then we are not happy!

Jez, your “doing’s” have caught up with you!

My gran used to say that you could tell what God thought abought money by the type of people he gave it to.

Rich Jez, you are obviously condemned to ever-lasting tribulation. Whew! I am happy about that!

Don’t get a guilt complex. When we play away thick mick plays a 4-5-1 formation, and he hasn’t got the right players to turn that into a winning formation.

Then at home, when he gets bold and decides to attack, he unfolds a 4-4-2 formation. However, although we have some wins from that formation they are accidental as the players are still confused playing this way. They have had “doing a shift” drummed into them, and most just want to get away to a sensible club.

  23. McCarthys Last Stand said:

*EVERYTHING* that McCarthy has ever done has ended in tears and recriminations!

This job will be no different because he is flawed by a gigantic ego, which has seen him already insulting Wolves fans this season, and then applying control fanaticism to the careers of class players, that his limited horizon does not appreciate or understand.

McCarthy is a serial failure, every job he has undertaken has ended with recriminations and bad feelings. The same will happen at Wolves, simply because he is *NOT* a Premiership manager.

OK, let him qual;ify us for the premiership if his luck hangs out that long. But then we need to appoint a serious Premiership manager. The idea that McCarthy could ever out-think Wenger, Ferguson or even Grant! is in proud cuckoo land.

He already holds the record of the worst Premiership Manager of all time, why make it even worse?

McCarthy is just second grade land. However, Moxey would like to build him up to be Premiership grade to justify his inevitably flawed approach.

Please understand what subversive undercurrents are happening at Wolves!

OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH PAUL INNES! THE REAL GUV’NOR WHO WILL GET RID OF ALL OF THE WOLVES PARASITES AND HANGERS-ON!
