Injury blow for Wolves youngster

Mark DaviesWolves midfielder Mark Davies has suffered a fresh injury blow and is out for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old midfielder had been some way down the road to recovery from a serious knee injury, but has broken down again with bone bruising.

Boss Mick McCarthy said: “He’s got no chance of being fit this season. He’s in a brace to protect his knee because of bone bruising.

“He was back out training and somehow got a bang to his knee and jarred it from a tackle or kicking the ground.

“I couldn’t tell you how long he’s going to be out. He’s been out a long time and it’s just another knock to his rehab.

“We’re trying to get him fit because he’s a good little player.

“We all like him and he’s a terrfic lad about the place – we all want to ee his happy smiling face again because he’s been injured for a long time.”

For Davies, the setback is the latest in a string of injuries in his bid to regain full fitness since initially injuring his knee in a pre-season friendly against Villa in August 2006.

The former England youth captain’s last first team game was on April 14 last year as an 83rd minute substitute in a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace.

“I can’t imagine how difficult it is for him,” added McCarthy. “Later on in my career I suffered injuries but I was never out as long as that.

“It’s really difficult because he’s kept having knockbacks. But he’s having the best of treatment and let’s hope he gets a bit of luck.”

a top player who just cannot stay fit, it begins to ask the questions about the medical team if he just keeps on getting injuryed. its this sort of thing that is not helping the push to get out of the league

A very good player. A fit Davies with Gleeson, Edwards, Jarvis and George on top of his game would be a top quality midfield.
To think them lot down the road do not think we have any assets?

I dont think you can blame the medical staff for this one. Some people are just injury prone. Lets hope he just sorts it out for good and then he can look forward.

Remember seeing this lad in the FA youth cup semi-final against Southampton where he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. And this was a game that included a certain Theo Walcott.

He will be back and he will be brilliant.
    Good luck Mark.

I would feel sorry for the lad, but I am told he has been seen out regularly drinking alcohol and not in small amounts. Surely this is not good for obtaining fitness. It takes the body a lot longer to recover and heal.

I think if i had to put up with the bad luck he had had i would drown my sorrows too.
If you know you are out of contention for up to a year then it does’nt really matter if there is alco in the blood at various times.
Get real wolvessince66. Get a life you miserable beggar

    6) I do apologise I forgot to type in him at the end. Of course he would be in and he was not overlooked.
The midfield would be Kites, Davies, Edwards, Jarvis!

Dennis, as LLLW you certainly have your own miserable moments. Davies is a good player though. Let’s hope he can make a full recovery and get back to playing for the team again. On his day he is a bit special, and would certainly add to Wolves’ success..

Has anyone been to the new training ground?

I am just interested to know if it contains a cobbled stone pitch cos we have had a ridiculous amount of training ground injuries this year!

Are they getting the players to jump 6 foot hurdles or run barefoot on hot coals?

  19. pip said:

quality player- thats a shame, wish we could get all the players fit including Gobern,Kightly and Matt Murray.

  20. Damian said:

Let’s just hope there are no more recurrences of this injury and he’s fit for next season.

  21. Accountant Wolf said:

As soon as he is fit, we should sell him on and get what we can in a fire sale.

He is obviously going to be expensive to insure in the future.

  22. wolves boo-boy said:

He is agood lad, seems to have bad luck with the injuries, hope its not the poor training methods.

  23. Stoke Wolves said:

Decent player though he is, he defintitely fits into the crock mould a la Daley, Froggatt, Thomas, Masters, De wolf.

Just to let you all know. I went on the piss and got paralytic. On the way home I joined in with some lads playing football on the cracker. Guess what, somehow I got a bang to my knee and jarred it from a tackle or kicking the ground. It’s now in a brace, what a coincidence. The doc’ says my bones are weak and lack calcium due to the alcohol and I will be out for the rest of this year. Oh well there goes me job, the gaffer has sacked me, but who cares I bloody enjoyed it.
