Tributes to crash victim

A passenger killed in a car crash in Kidderminster was today named as machine operator Scott Irwin, the father of a two year-old boy.

Mr Irwin’s girlfriend Jodie Carroll has today paid tribute to her childhood sweetheart from school and  the father of her son Connor. 

Their families lived near each other in Upton Road, Kidderminster. 

Scott, 23, and Jodie also worked as machine operators at the same firm, Tiger Turf, at Hartlebury, which makes synthetic turf. 

They had been together for eight years and had lived in Cookley for almost two years. 

Mr Irwin of Staite Drive, Cookley, a front seat passenger in a Rover 216, was killed in a crash with a Ford Transit van on the A451 Minster Road just after midnight on Monday.

Jodie said: “Scott was very popular. He had a lot of friends and came from a big family who all loved him. He had two brothers and two sisters. 

“He also had three nieces and two nephews, and there are three babies on the way in the family. 

“Scott was really fun. He loved me and Connor more than anything.” 

Mr Irwin, a former pupil of St Oswald’s Fist School, Sion Hill Middle School and Wolverley High School, had been for a drive around with friends when the collision happened. 

Details of his funeral are not yet known. 

Three people remain in hospital following the collision, recovering from serious injuries.
