Seyi happy as form returns

seyi.jpgSeyi Olofinjana believes he and Wolves have hit form together at just the right time and the team can repeat last season’s charge to the play-offs.

Victory at Charlton on Saturday saw Mick McCarthy’s men regain their place in the play-off zone for the first time since the start of December after five wins and two draws in their last eight games.

Wolves could easily drop out of the top six again during their free weekend should Ipswich win at Colchester, Plymouth beat fast-fading Charlton or Crystal Palace win at Stoke.

But in-form midfielder Olofinjana believes Wolves are in the mood to maintain their impressive run of results as the season approaches its climax.

“This is not the best we can play. Last season under Mick McCarthy we were far more consistent and we had some great results,” said Olofinjana.

“Now we’re just starting to show signs of getting to the same levels as we did then.

“It’s a good time to pick up our form because we have a game in hand. We’re in sixth position and we’re looking to go even higher.

“We’ve had an indifferent season because it’s been stop-start, stop-start unlike last time when we were very consistent.

“I knew it was going to be tough this time because last season we were able to show what we are made of as not many people gave us a chance last season and there wasn’t as much attention on us.

“Now everyone knows a bit about us and expectations have risen so it was always going to be difficult.

“But right now it’s our response that matters. I’m glad confidence is back in the team and we’re doing very well.”

League positions count for nothing at this stage, but psychologically at least, Olofinjana believes seeing Wolves’ name in the play-off zone is another booster.

“It definitely helps to see we’re in the play-off places,” he admitted. From a personal viewpoint, Olofinjana is just relieved to have resdiscovered his form again.

He admits re-acclimatising from the huge change in temperature from the scorching heat of Ghana, where he played in the African Nations Cup, to freezing Britain took time to adjust.

“We were playing in temperatures of 35 degrees C, so to come back here and play in freezing conditions was a big transition for me,” he said.

Big Wolf: I like the way you ommitted the defence from our Prem quality team! I agree with you though, we do have a good team - despite what the doubters say!

Theres only 3 defenders that are good enough in my opinion craddock(but he is knocking on) foley and elokobi .. we need another 2 centre halfs and then the whole team would be prem !! GO AND GET THAT GERRARD FROM WALSALL AND THAT BERRA FROM HEARTS AND WOULD HAVE CRACKING DEFENCE !!

I don’t think defence apart too many people would disagree with the fact we have a very good squad.
I repeat what I have said before, playoff’s is a minimum requirement for us this year, given the teams who are fighting for automatic it’s clear, we should have walked this league this year. Only Mick can answer why we haven’t

Mind you, it is nice to see not just George, but the belief in the rest of the team that they can gate-crash the Prem!
