Albion’s James Morrison today turned up the heat on Portsmouth ahead of the FA Cup semi-final by claiming: “The pressure is all on you”.
Morrison insisted Albion will head to Wembley on Saturday with nothing to lose while Pompey will carry the weight of expectation.
“The draw could work to our advantage because the pressure won’t be on us but it will be on Portsmouth,” said Morrison.
“They’re the Premeir League side, we’re the underdogs. But we are pushing to get to the Premier League, to play clubs like that every week, so we will want to put on a good show and prove that we’ve got Premiership quality players ourselves. We have to do what we’re doing. We can’t worry about the or the big stadium.
“We must just concentrate on our own strengths. We have to treat it like another match in a way.
“We need to make sure we look back and know we gave it a good go. Nobody expected us to get this far yet we have so credit to everyone at the club.
“It’s a great achievement to get to a semi-final. It shows what a good side we’ve got.
“I’ve played against a few of them when I was at Middlesbrough.
“They are a big, physical side with some strong lads in there. It’’ll be a one off. We need to go there and challenge against what is a good side. It’s a one-off game and as we’ve seen this season anything can happen.”
Morrison is now facing an anxious wait to discover whether he will make Saturday’s starting line-up, but he claims he is ready to handle any disappointment.
“It would be massive disappointment not to play but you have to deal with that in football and support the players who are playing,” said Morrison, who made his first start in almost a month in the goalless draw at Cardiff last night.
“It was important to play well but the gaffer knows what I can do. “Whoever plays then the rest of the lads will be behind them but I think the manager’s got a headache now with this squad.
“Everyone’s fit, which is good, and we’re all ready for Saturday and the promotion push.”
And Morrison insisted defeat on Saturday will not affect the final weeks of the club’s promotion push.
“The next few weeks will be vital,” he said. “We know the rewards. If we get to where we want to be then it’ll be highlight in our careers.
“If the worst comes to the worst on Saturday we have to concentrate on getting it right in the league.
“Last night was a tough game but we’re happy with the point. “

if albion dont win the cup or get pomoted then mowbray has got to go,we not as big as the wolves they could pip us to pomotion then that would be a sickner.
Steve - you are obviously a true baggies fan - there is not a chance of you being a daft dingle in disguise.
My dingle detection alarm has just been activated.
stevebrown be quiet you dingle wolves are shocking im sorry but stadium and history doesnt make you better nowadays look at leeds southampton forrest etc. im sick to death of dingles saying we are jeaouls fact of the matter is if we meet them at wembley we are going to win on our goalscorers - of which theres 3 who have scored 99 they have one who has scored 9 for them.
does anyone know what strip we will be wearing for wembley? i was thinking because we were drawn first we are the home team right? but then i was thinking portsmouths home kit is blue wuth white then there away kits is white with blue, so does that mean we are going to be wearing our black kit?
No 1,
That sounds like a great idea, get rid of the best attacking manager in the league - I think not - get back to the custard bowl mate and stick to their stories eh!!
5.
Our Home Strip
As a long term Pompey supporter living in Kenya, I obviously hope we win. If we don’t, then well done and I will support you in the final., Lets hope for a good game
Just can’t stop laughing.Nothing to lose?Cause you have.Who wants the record of losing by the most goals ever at the new Wembley and maybe the most ever in a semi-final.This game will wreck your confidence for the rest of the season and could lead to you even dropping out of the play off zone.If you do manage to stay in the play off zone you will be on a massive downer and get hammered and then the usual summer sell off of players leaving the sinking ship. All is not well at the poorthorns.
super kev (7) thanks mate
btw just wanted to know where all the albion fans was going for a few beverages - a few people told be the grayhound on harrow road is that going to be the best place?
can’t bring myself to say ‘i hope you win’ but good luck saturday anyway. i think with defoe missing, your obviously dodgy defence should cope. and with the amount of goals you can score on any given day you have a massive chance.
hope your fans have good day out, not jealous (honest!!!)
i can’t bring myself to say ‘i hope you win on saturday’ but good luck anyway.
with defoe missing i think your dodgy defence should cope. may sound strange comin from a wolves fan but id start with bednar & KP cos with 70 minutes gone & cambell & distins legs gone they are gonna hate seeing the sight of ishmael miller coming off the bench.
You can learn quite a lot about the great unanswered question…….LIFE.
posts 9 & 11
There you have it……..the opposite extremes of
the evolutionary scale.
9, how bitter are you?
I’m still laughing at post number 1. It seems we have our equivalent of TerryWalsallBaggie.
Like post 11 I can’t bring myself to wish you luck but what I will say is I hope Harry doesn’t lift the cup.
optimistic wolf.Jealousy is a terrible thing.
Just a few points.
1,We got rid of Kamara, Davis and Koumas last season. We are playing better football with arguably better players and got paid far too much for them.Great business. Those three havent exactly set the prem alight now have they?
2,We will probably lose one player, Gera if we dont go up.Last year that would have been a loss but to be honest he has had one good season out of 3 and although i love him we have Koren, morrison, brunt, greening, our new korean player and Texiera all of whom are as good if not better players. We arent struggling for midfielders mate.I will fondly wave gera goodbye, yes with a heavy heart but not angrily or worried.
3,I thought that with mowbray bringing in all these new players we would only make the playoffs this season, so to be honest we are over achieving.
Whatever happens we have made the semi finals of the fa cup and if we win our game in had we go joint top.
We are still in a stronger , healthier position than the wolves, with a better squad and manager. I wouldnt mind not going up this season to be honest as i think that with mogga being able to bring in a couple more players over the summer we will walk the league next season.
Perhaps if you took more time out being concerned about your own team then you may be doing better.
2 HAPY BAGGIE ..BUT HE IS RIGHT

We’ll be in the SUPER STRIPES!
’stevebrown, it that an anagram
for Dingle? I suspect so!
By the way, I’ve heard that all
pubs in the vicinity will be closed,
can anyone tell me otherwise,
BOING BOING
15,dingle dingle, i can assure you i would never pass myself off as a wolf, boing boing going to wembley for a bbq
4.
Wolves shocking what does that make you lot we are currently second best in the form ratings and Seb as scored more than 9 goals this season.
you dimwit.
19. How do you know we’ll be in home kit - where did you find that out from?
21 in defence of my fellow Baggie he has only scored 9 for you and in terms of form Hull lead the way with 15 p;oints from the last 18 followed by Wolves 11/18 and Albion 9/18 and as yhou well know the table only tells part of the stoiry and by this I refer to Wiolves fans fighting each other at one particular home match. So I think it is you that is the dimwit or maybe half wit.
I think all these dingles, that are so clearly feeling sick with jealousy at our glorious achievements this season, should stop booing the dingle players, stop shouting Mick Out!, and stop being sooooo jealous that we are…..GOING TO WEMBLEY IN STYLE WITH THOMMO!
Snow White took the packed lunches up to the mine where the dwarfs were working. To her horror, when she got there she found the mine had imploded. Frantically she ran through the rubble shouting is there anyone here, speak to me, and a weak voice said, Baggies for the cup. Thank God for that said Snow White, Dopey’s still alive
23. not al wolves fans where fighting at the match.
the comment was about how many goals your strikers have scored so far all season compared to how many SEB as scored since he moved to Wolves.
that is why i said he was a dimwit.
you cant compare how many goals one person as scored in an handfull of games to how many 3 strikers have scored all season.
nice of you lot to admit that he is as good as all 3 of them put together though.
and yes in terms of form you have just agreed with what i stated we are second.
your bubble as burst and ours is just forming.
stop crying and get over it.
22.Si.
It was announced the day after the draw,
as we were 1st out of the bag & so had
the choice.
Carnt Lose this one now boys it will be a real downer. I know there are premership but we need to win our form is going down hill a little and conceding 3 goals to Colchester. Kiely had is day, hate to say it but if our defence play like that against wolves we could have a run for a money with that Blakes. Good Point Micheal
1. If anyone is under pressure to get promotion its Mick McCarthy. Mowbray has just signed a contract extension and I would still want him in charge next season even if we lost every match from now to May.
Failure to get promotion will be seen as a failure by Steve Morgan and Wolves will have a new manager for next season.
24. you really are so wise.
you haven’t achieved anything yet.
what is it that you think you have actually achieved at the moment.
you are in the same division as wolves and ok you are going to wembley but it is a cup Semi which should never be being played at wembley and before all you sandwell fans accuse me of only saying that because i am jealous i would be saying the same if it was wolves in the semis.
Wembley is for internationals and finals. there are plenty of big stadiums around to play semis in.
You can talk wise guy after the way your fans treated your dopey keeper on Sat…
sigh,
michael/optimistic wolf/sandwell pampers
it really is becoming quite boring reading your “witty” retorts…
is suspect you’re really closet baggies fans considering how many posts you make on albion pages?
4. you cant even get your facts right your 3 strikers haven’t scored 99 goals this season you don’t even know who as scored you teams goals.
