Wolves roar in opener

wd2710486.jpgWolves were in top form to start their Elite League speedway season at Monmore Green last night as they defeated title favourites Poole 54-36 in a determined performance.

The shine was only taken off the side’s success by a hip injury to Kenneth Hansen in the penultimate race, leaving him a doubt for the two upcoming away fixtures.

Wolves’ poor gating showed once again, but this helped produce some cracking racing as they fought their way through from the back, with Freddie Lindgren and David Howe looking particularly impressive.

Lindgren started things in the best possible fashion by going from last to first inside a lap in heat one, and he continued to spearhead the side en route to a superb paid maximum.

“I am very pleased with the side’s performance,” he said.

“I thought we would win, but not by as many as 18 points.”
