Under 8s - F.C. Strollers moved back to the top of the Spring League after goals from James Birk, Kian Dwyer and Ellis Greatrex helped them beat championship rivals Bentley Youth, Harry Shaw replied for Bentley who now sit three points behind Strollers but with a game in hand.
It looks like being an exciting finale to what has been a very successful first season for the league at this age group.
Earlier in the day Kian Dwyer scored the only goal of the game as Strollers beat Stone Cross Academy Lions while a brace from Jack Adams and goals from Kierian Francis, Harry Shaw, Reece Rolston and Josh Toye helped Bentley beat the Lions stable mates Stone Cross Tigers.
The Lions bounced back from their close encounter with Strollers to beat F.C. Perton courtesy of a hat trick from Darien Stone with Matthew Morris replying while goals from Skye Hylton and Derek Wall helped All Saints Juniors beat Stone Cross Tigers and Vic Market Tigers made it three straight wins either side of the Easter break when they beat All Saints with a brace from Ethan Jones and a strike from Reece Simmonds with Charlie Street replying.
Under 10s - The final tournament of the season, the Merit Shield, got underway with some unusual results, as seven of the first eight games ended in draws. In Group A, the first match brought Premier Division Champions Perton and Codsall West up against First Division Champions Wolverhampton Development Pumas.
The resulting 1–1 draw shows how unpredictable the competition could be. James Jukes scored for Pumas, with Matthew Finney on target for Perton and Codsall.
Pumas couldn’t keep up their momentum, going down 3 – 0 to Wednesfield, who had Luke Mitchell, Kane Matthews and Todd Brindle on target.
Premier League runners-up faced Perton and Codsall, who recovered from their earlier draw to run out 4 – 1 winners, with goals from Daniel Slyde, Nicholas Cox, Matthew Finney and Darryl Watkins. Joseph Matthews scored Willenhall’s consolation.
The final match of the day in the group brought together Wednesfield, fresh from their win, and Willenhall from their defeat.
However, two Willenhall goals in the first five minutes settled the match, despite a tremendous fight back from Wednesfield who had the majority of the play, hitting the post and the bar. Wednesfield pulled one back but near the end Willenhall scored the decisive goal.
Ashley Doughton got two and Joseph Matthews one for Willenhall, with James O’Malley getting Wednesfield’s goal. In Group B a goal from Callum Bradley was enough to give Ashbourne Raiders victory over Tipton Olympic. This was the only match in the group that didn’t end in a draw.
Ashbourne had earlier fought out a 2 – 2 draw with New Park Village. Josh Essen and Anton Patrick were on target for Village, with goals from Callum Bradley and Charlie Irving for Ashbourne. The other games in the group all ended in goalless draws.
The opening games in Group C all ended resulted in 1 – 1 draws. Jordan Sherwood was on target for Bentley Youth with Connor Lowth scoring for Stone Cross Academy, Tyronne Spair scored for Pensnett Harriers with Joe Rudd equalising for Salisbury Rangers, who then want on to draw by the same score line with Wolverhampton Development Panthers. Tyler Cartwright scored for Panthers, with Jordan Herd on target for Salisbury.
The only victory of the day came as James Read and Jack Pearson scored the goals as Pensnett Harriers ran out 2 – 0 winners over Bentley.
There were no draws in Group D as NC Colts and St Joseph’s Colts set the early pace. NC started with Reece Peterkin hitting a brace in the 2 – 1 win over Bustleholme, who had Jake Powell on target, and this was followed with another brace for Reece and goals from Adam Smith and James Owen as their team ran out 4 – 0 winners over Prestwood Rangers.
Another brace, this time from Kyle Hunjam of St Joseph’s, along with a goal from Corey Whitehouse, gave victory over Prestwood, who had Jordan Miller on target.
Ben Dutton scored the only goal of the game for St Joseph’s against Cooper’s Casuals.
All Saints Juniors ran out 2 – 1 winners against Coopers, with Ryan Williams and Kieran Hill on target, and Lee Bowden replying for Coopers.
However All Saints couldn’t keep up the momentum as Bustleholme bounced back from their earlier defeat with goals from Jake Powell and Jacob Wheale, while Ryan Williams was again on target for All Saints.
Under 11s - An excellent all round team performance saw Wednesfield book their place in the Final of the prestigious South Staffs Junior Charity Cup with a 3-1 victory over Withymoor Colts West courtesy of a brace from Matthew Hough and a strike from Nial Bernard.
Wednesfield will face Withymoor Colts East in the final after they beat the league’s other representatives in the semi finals Hill Top Rangers 8-4.
On the domestic front a hat trick from Lewis Probert and a goal from Ellis Probert helped Rowley Rangers move back to the top of the premier division with an excellent victory at Tipton Olympic while Willenhall Town Reds beat Finchfield 7-1 to move into third place just three points adrift of stable mates Willenhall Town Colts.
In the First Division leaders East Park beat third placed F.C. Strollers 4-1while second placed Warstones Wanderers (North) beat Wallbrook United 7-0 and New Park Village beat Perton and Codsall United 9-1.
In the Second Division second placed Coven United kept their championship hopes alive with a 7-0 victory at F.C. Perton while Warstones Wanderers (Lions) beat Brandhall Colts by the odd goal in nine.
Under 12s - Two mid week floodlit finals before the Easter break saw Bilbrook Juniors (West) beat F.C. Perton 5-2 to lift the Premier Division Cup at Grosvenor Park while at Wednesfield’s Amos Lane ground Coven United lifted the Reece Rawlins (Second Division) Cup with a 1-0 victory over Smethwick Sikh Temple and two mid week finals at Grosvenor Park after the Easter break saw Windsor beat Prestwood Rangers by the same score line to lift the First Division Charity Cup while Wednesbury Sports Union beat Bentley Youth by the odd goal in three to lift the Second Division Charity Cup.
At the week end goals from Chad Shinton, Josh Bell and Reece Shaw helped FC Strollers beat Bilbrook Juniors (West) in their delayed third round tie in the Jamie Mason (League) Cup while in the Spring Shield a brace from Ryan Goldbourn and goals from Lewis Riley and Jody Bell helped Finchfield beat Warstones Wanderers (Lions) with Bradley Hines netting both goals in reply and two goals apiece from Macauley Love and Leon Carter and one each from Anton Birch, Liam Ingram and Ryan Carter helped Prestwood Rangers beat Tipton Olympic while it was honours even when F.C. Strollers (Lions) entertained Smethwick Sikh Temple in an eight goal thriller with Matt Macdonald, with a brace, Ben Brittall and Kris Collins on target for the Lions with Askaran Deal, with a brace, and Akash Ali and Harvinder Shanker, replying for Smethwick.
In the Merit Shield three goals apiece from Ashley Boote and Vinney Dash and one each from Matthew Frost and Mark Sutton helped Windsor beat Moorcroft Raiders while goals from Liam Hanson, Corey Walker and Jordan Whorton-Guy helped Moxley Rangers beat Coven United and in the Premier Division four goals from Seamus Williams and one apiece from Tom Parkes, Kyle Sawyers. Matthew Worrell, Jackson Miles and Joe Prosser helped New Park Village beat Penn Rovers.
Under 13s - Midweek floodlit action before the Easter break saw NC Sports lift the First Division Cup at Grosvenor Park with a 2-0 victory over Wednesbury Oak Colts while at the week end Warley Vipers booked their place in the final of the South Staffs Junior Charity Cup with an impressive 7-0 semi final victory over Shire Oak Saints with a hat trick from Mohit Sethi and goals from Ryan Long, Jack Whittal, Callum Williams and Mitchel Smallwood-Rose while in the Jenny Chapman League Cup a brace from Tarandeep Sira and a strike from Ryan Stanley helped Bustleholme Blades beat Wednesbury Oak Colts by the odd goal in five to progress to the semi finals with Ricky Evans and Tom Ruston replying.
The Blades are joined in the semis by second division stable mates Bustleholme Athletic who enjoyed an excellent victory at premier division outfit New Park Village. Athletic started off with two goals in quick succession from Joshua Heath followed by a third by Ben O’Keefe.
New Park’s Dimitri Dunkley answered back by putting the ball into the net twice before Heath claimed his hat trick just before half time. An early free kick in the second half saw Athletic’s Bradley Farmer get on the score sheet which he soon followed up with a second.
Dunkley closed the gap for New Park when he completed his hat trick with what was to be the last goal of a hard fought match.
Also through to the last four are Sedgley White Lions who beat Moorcroft Raiders with three goals from Tom Timmins and one from Andy Day with Jamie Haynes and Luke Perrins replying.
In the Premier Division two goals from Daniel Edmondson-Griffiths and one from Kiah Nwabuko helped Willenhall Town beat Hill Top Rangers to close the gap on leaders Warley Vipers while in the First Division Bentley Community made it 3 wins out of 3 with a well deserved victory over Bustleholme Hawks.
Bentley scored in the first half with a Tom Ahern strike with Bustleholme equalising just 5 minutes later. Bentley though dominated the rest of the first half missing 2 one on ones chances.
The second half started the same with Bustleholme under pressure as Bentley pushed on and scored a deserved winner with a Justin John strike while Stefan Cameron notched a hat trick as NC Sports beat All Saints.
In the Merit Shield a hat trick from Joe Morgan and a strike from Jack Inston helped Dudley Town beat Black Country Ravens in a seven goal thriller with Lee Davies, with a brace, and Emmanuel Tetteh replying while a hat trick from Stewart White and a brace from Charlie Jones helped Wednesbury Royals beat Tettenhall Wood and it was honours even when Tipton Olympic entertained New State Lions with a strike from Rufaro Mtsambiwa cancelled out by a goal from Jack Elmore for the Lions.
Under 14s - First Division leaders Sedgley White Lions booked their place in the final of the David Taylor (League) Cup with an excellent victory over premiership outfit New Park Village courtesy of a hat trick from Bunger and goals from Smith and Jenkinson with Crutchley bagging both goals in reply for the Village.
Sedgley will face Warstones Wanderers North in the final after goals from Lee, Griffin, Meggoe and Thomas helped Warstones beat Darlaston Town.
In the top of the table clash in the Premier Division leaders Hill Top Rangers edged closer to the title with an excellent 4-1 victory over second placed Sandwell Dynamos while in the First Division it was honours even when Warstones Wanderers South entertained B.N.J.S.F.C. with a brace from Read and goals from Westwood and Mohan for Warstones cancelled out by two goals from Zillic and one apiece from Lee and Neale. In the Merit Shield goals from Lewis and Williams helped Stone Cross beat Windsor while Harvey notched the all important goal as Perton and Codsall United beat Beechdale Swifts and it was all square when Wednesfield Phoenix visited Coven United.
A brace from Joe Vernon and a strike from Matt Corbett saw the Phoenix take a commanding half time lead but Coven rallied in the second half and goals from Gurvinder Kumar, Ashley Rayner and James Faulkner saw them take a share of the spoils.
Under 15s - First Division high flyers Springvale took the first step in what could be an impressive league and cup double when they beat Featherstone R.W.B. 7-0 in the floodlit final of the First Division Cup at Grosvenor Park while at the week end six goals from Birch, two from Chisholm and one each from Hodgetts, Hewitt, Smith and Parks helped Bilbrook Juniors (East) beat Tipton Olympic in the delayed third round Chris Lees Cup tie while in the fourth round four goals from Wood, two from Abraham and one from Carter helped Springvale beat F.C. Strollers while a brace from Yves Fuala and goals from Myles McDonald and Richard Cheetham helped Finchfield knock out Willenhall Town Tigers.
In the Premier Division two goals from Thomas and one each from Kuldeedchan, Greenland and Wilkes helped Windsor beat Carlisle Swifts with Poulton replying while goals from Allen and Dshmuna helped Parkes Hall beat Trysull Tigers and it was honours even when Bustleholme 2000 and Wolverhampton Development ground out a goal less draw.
In the First division Carroll bagged the only goal of the game as Featherstone R.W.B. beat Wood Farm Wanderers while in the Second Division a hat trick from Green helped leaders Bilbrook Juniors (North Star) beat Wood Green United in a five goal thriller with Wall bagging both goals in reply and a brace from Staydon and goals from Brown and James helped Warstones Wanderers keep their promotion hopes alive with a victory at Sedgley White Lions with Smith notching a brace in reply and Lukuku was on the score sheet as All Saints beat Penn Rovers while it was honours even when Ashbourne Raiders visited Darlaston Town with two goals from Williams and one from Nelson for Darlaston cancelled out by a hat trick from Ansol. In the First Division Shield Smethwick United beat Park Hill Boys 5-1.
Under 16s - Mid week cup final action before the Easter break saw Willenhall Town Colts lift the First division Cup at Grosvenor Park with an excellent victory over Hill Top Rangers Colts.
The final turned out to be an excellent match played in the best possible spirit by both teams.
Hill Top had the best of the early exchanges until Willenhall started to take advantage of the Grosvenor Park slope with the Hill Top keeper saving well twice from Turner and Bartlett shooting just wide from 20yds, then Lord was on hand to kick the ball off the line as Hill Top came back into the game.
Early in the second half Willenhall took the lead with a Jake Holyhead free kick which bamboozled keeper, defenders and forwards alike.
Hill Top equalised 5 minutes later when the Hill Top player lobbed the keeper from 25 yds, then with 5 minutes to go Willenhall got the winner after a Lea corner bobbled about the 18 yd box until eventually it came out to Dave Rickwood on the edge of the area who volleyed in from about 20 yds.
In the last 5 minutes Hill Top piled on the pressure but the resolute defending of Willenhall Colts came through to win this team’s first ever trophy. Sunday was Charity Cup semi final day and in the First Division competition Mark Kendall bagged the all important goal as Moxley Rangers beat Wolverhampton Development while an equally thrilling encounter saw a hat trick from Dan Coles helped Sedgley Town to an odd goal in five victory over Penn Rovers with Nathan Henry and Hew Allen replying.
The Second Division final will be between Parkes Hall and Walsall Town after goals from Matt Williams, Stuart Evans and Steve Whitehouse helped Parkes Hall to an odd goal in five victory over Sedgley Alliance Colts with Dan Unit and Jamie Tomlinson replying while goals from Kieron Stackhouse, Ben Kirby, Lewis Hylton and Ryan Petty helped Walsall beat Bentley Youth with Jasvinder Akaoai and Sam Giles replying. Wednesbury Sports Union booked their place in the Third Division final with a 3-2 victory at Stowlawn while goals from Jordan White, Jordan Jones and Dale Griffiths helped Sedgley Rovers beat Image Wheels Kestrals to book their place in the final.
The top of the table clash in the premier division saw Tipton Town confirmed as champions after they beat Pelsall Villa courtesy of goals from John Hill, Jay Chambers and Seb Craven while in the First Division Wednesfield and Hill Top Rangers Colts shared the points and four goals with Nathan Jackson and Alex Corbett on the score sheet for Wednesfield with Ahmed Mussed and Aaron Bailey replying for Hill Top.
In the Merit Shield Craig Skeldon bagged the only goal of the game as Lyng Falcons beat Willenhall Town Colts while Sedgley Alliance Swifts beat Windsor 4-0 after an evenly matched first half which saw the Windsor keeper making 3 first Class saves to keep Windsor in the game.
The second half saw Swifts take charge of the game and put Windsor on the back foot for majority of the second half with Joshua Millard bagging a brace and Daniel Jaggers and Jon Guest also on the score sheet.
A hat trick from Dan Parkes and a brace from Shane Maydew helped Wednesbury Town beat Beechdale Swifts with Darryll Richards replying while two goals apiece from Daniel Hall and Daniel Hopson and one each from Sean Steventon and tom Osemand helped Hill Top Rangers beat Darlaston Town with Nathan Cox replying.
Under 17s - Mid week floodlit cup final action saw Bustleholme beat Park Hill Boys 5-0 to lift the Premier Division Charity Cup while the First Division Charity Cup Final saw Wednesbury Sports Union beat Wyrley Juniors 5-2.
At the week end Swinmoor Rangers impressive run in the Birmingham County Youth Cup came to an end when they lost out 3-1 to Callowbrook Swifts at the semi final stage with Smith on target for Swinmoor. In the Presidents Cup Willenhall Youth booked the final place in the knock out stages after they beat Parkside Rangers to the group title.
Ben Cox opened the scoring for Willenhall but Parkside quickly equalised through Daniel Beckett but it was only a short reprieve for the Rangers as Willenhall went on to bag six more with two from Ellis James, one from Richard Coke and a hat trick from Ashley Smith.
Also in the group stages goals from Pope and Parkes helped Argyle beat Darlaston with Hughes replying while in the Premier Division it was honours even when Bustleholme entertained Castle Youth with goals from Woodward and Gavin for Bustleholme cancelled out by strikes from Wright and Jones for Castle and in the First Division goals from Donovan, Evans and Shore helped Parkes Hall Lions beat Wednesbury Sports Union.
