Roman army heading for Wembley

bednargoal22.jpgAround a dozen friends and relatives will travel from the Czech Republic to watch Albion goalscoring hero Roman Bednar in action at Wembley.

The 24-year-old has revealed his mother and girlfriend have flown in to join him in England for the biggest week of his Baggies career.

And they will be joined at the end of the week by several other members of the Bednar clan.

“My girlfriend and my mum are here and my brother will come,” said Bednar.

“Three friends from the Czech Republic are coming over and my girlfriend’s brother is coming over with three friends.

“I have them tickets. I am prepared.”

The ever-smiling Bednar admitted to a sense of anticipation about the week ahead.

But he is anxious not to become sidetracked by thoughts of Wembley with a potentially vital match to come in the Championship at Cardiff tomorrow.

“I am very excited,” he said. “There is a big game at the end but now I think everybody is just thinking about Cardiff because that is a very big game for us.

“We need some points from that game.

“After Tuesday, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we can think about the semi-final but now all of our concentration is on the Cardiff game.”

And Bednar believes the manner of Saturday’s dramatic win against Colchester at The Hawthorns will give Albion a psychological boost ahead of a vital week.

“I was so disappointed because I know we played better than them and in the whole game they had three breaks and scored three goals,” said Bednar.

“But their two strikers aren’t bad so they exposed our defending.

“We were pushing hard and then they scored to make it 3-2 with another goal from a set-piece.

“We want to win every game so when they scored the third with 10 minutes to go everyone was unhappy to concede three goals.

“But at the end everybody was just happy that we have picked up the three points.

“We can’t always turn 2-0 into 2-2 and 3-2 down into 4-3 up.

“This shouldn’t happen but it’s good for us that we proved we can be strong and fight our way back.”

Top Man ‘Bendy’ You have the ability & personality to be a baggies super hero. A Brace tonight and a Hat trick at Wembley would help nicely. The Missus would be well impressed aswell.
