Albion where heart is: Clem

clement.jpgReturning Neil Clement today set his sights on Albion history and admitted he is back where is heart is.

The defender returned to Baggies colours on Saturday after helping Hull become shock promotion contenders during a month on loan.

But he is now determined to write his name in the Hawthorns record books by becoming the first player to figure in three Albion promotions – even if it breaks hearts at the KC Stadium.

Albion’s longest serving player twice helped them reach promotion under Gary Megson and no-one has ever managed a third with the club.

“That would be nice,” he said. “It was talked about last year but this time it’s in our own hands so yes, why not?”

Clement has swapped one promotion challenge for another after helping Phil Brown’s Hull climb from eighth to third during a five-game loan stint.

But he insisted he has cut all ties with Hull and no longer has any interest in their campaign to reach the top flight.

“I was pleased to go there, not so much to prove people wrong but because I had such a bad injury,” said Clement, who suffered serious knee ligament damage in September.

“When that happens there are always doubts in your own mind about how the future’s going to be.

“I went up there, was playing three games a week and I’d like to think I helped them in their recent run of form whilst I was up there.

“But my heart’s here and I’m glad to be back.

“To be brutally honest I’m only interested now in what we do.

“There were some great guys up at Hull and I enjoyed my time there but I don’t care about them now.

“I’m only interested in helping Albion get promoted. I want to go up with West Brom.”

i think he may regret those comments especially if hull go up and albion blow it. maybe he just doesnt like wearing a kit that looks a bit like the famous one of wolves. he should be proud to wear a kit like that, old gold, the colour of winners instead of blue and white, the colour of cheese and onion crisps

The fact that Hull are looking down on both of us at present apart. What I really want to know is where do you get your cheese and onion crisps from?
Back in the real world. A really great servant to the club, so good to have him back. A smashing bloke into the bargain.

MMDP. Why will he regret it, he’s not going back to Hull. The sad thing about your comment is you’re not even first among the Gold and Black clubs. I do admit the competition is fierce though! Oh and if your crisps are blue I should check the sell by date!

Would be fitting to see him start at Wembley, or better still, hit the winning goal with one of his trademark freekick screamers against Cardiff
