Cov plan new move for Wolves ace

freddy.jpgCoventry boss Chris Coleman plans to end Freddy Eastwood’s Wolves misery with a £2m summer bid for the out-of-favour striker.

Eastwood sparkled for Wales in midweek with his double in a 2-0 friendly win over Luxembourg which meant the £1.5m striker could boast as many goals for his country - four - as he can for his club.

Eastwood has not started a game for Wolves since Boxing Day and was again among the substitutes at Charlton today although manager Mick McCarthy admitted the forward’s impact coming off the bench recently had influenced his decision to reject Coventry’s loan move.

But despite his fury at how those negotiations came to nothing, former Welsh international Coleman will be back in for Eastwood during the close season - regardless of what division the relegation-threatened Sky Blues are competing in.

McCarthy acknowledged that without a turnaround in his fortunes, Eastwood will want to leave Wolves in the summer.

Reflecting on his Molineux frustration, Eastwood said, “The Wolves manager knows what I can and can’t do and obviously the decision is his.

“The situation is not ideal because obviously I want to play for my club, but at the moment the manager there is doing it his way and we are getting the right results.I have to wait for my chance.”

Coventry striker Kevin Kyle, a McCarthy favourite, is currently on loan at Molineux and will be offered as a makeweight in any deal.

But there will have to be a major thawing in relations between the two clubs for talks to go ahead.

Coleman aimed a strongly-worded rebuke in the direction of Molineux Chief Executive Jez Moxey in the aftermath of this week’s failed loan talks.

He accused Wolves of “appalling” behaviour and said the reasons given for not going ahead with the deal were “ridiculous.”

Moxey is equally furious at the allegations - and is planning to make public an equally forceful response on Monday.

Kyle would make an excellent makeweight.About 18 stone.
Let’s put this one to bed-There is absolutely NO WAY MM would risk his career offloading Freddie for Hitman Super Kev.

Probably the best thing for Freddy but the worst thing for Wolves.

Already, it can be seen how Mr Moxey’s shrewd move to cancel the loan to Coventry has resulted in a half million pound increase in his valuation.

I predict that a Premiership club will step in with an improved offer eventually, so closing this farcical episode in the McCarthy reign.

if this is the case wolves and freddie supporters should send a message to steve morgan that they could lose that much in gate money next season.it’s obvious M M has got a big grudge against freddie who’s good enough to get picked for his country even when he cant hold a place in his club.(maybe if he gets regular starts he will show the irish up )for freddies sake he deserves a move, for wolves sake we need him..

Having seen his short but uninspiring performance today and previous performances $2m would be a good deal for Wolves. This saga of is he or isnt he good enough / should he shouldnt he be playing should be put to bed once and for all. Freddy will not be at the club next season-fact. Its time to put this to bed once and for all. The team did well today so we should be focusing on who is playing and not who we think should be playing. Well done Mick you got the tactics spot on again today.

Did you watch the match tonight we have a striker at the moment who is on fire, a certain SEB??

Its annoying me that everyone is going on and on about freddy (who has had a pants time at wolves thanks to MM), but we should be screaming the house down about SEB!

    SEB SEB SEB SEB!!!!!

  23. roscommon_wolf said:

he wont go anywhere watch im tellin u es not leavin

  24. Newdale Wolf said:

With SEB and Keogh getting a better partnership by the game, it is best to get the best deal possible for Freddy at the end of the season and put the money towards a quality young centre back to replace Breen for next season. SEB’s second goal tonight was pure class!!!

  25. wol1877ves said:

im a big freddy fan but if we can make half a mil or more on him then sell him hes to lazy at times blake cost the same and is already twice the player as fred and now got to b worth 5mil plus freddy needs to keep his mouth shut and prove his worth when he gets on the pitch that way he will stay and play.if we sell him put a clause in contract he cant play against us just to make sure bye fred

  26. booty said:

£2 million for Eastwood? I’d rip their bloody hands off, in fact I’d drive him there myself and tow his caravan!
Good player, yes but you’ve got to consider the effect that he has on dividing the fans, one man does not make a team, get rid Mick and let’s put this sorry saga behind us, great win tonight, again 3 goals without Eastwood so seems like we don’t need him so much after all!

  27. Eddie Wolf said:

If you cant support Mick after that result, you never will. There’s just no pleasing some of you is there? Mick and the boys gave there all and fought for those points. And face facts Freddie-lovers, the SEB-Keogh partnership is really looking something. So can you give the FREDDY, FREDDY a rest now?

Well done MM and the boys. Onwards & upwards!

  28. shatpankwolves said:

wanderer89 what a tool, we need a good striker??? ermmm SEB and Keogh are doing fine for me, and if we can make 500k on a player who doesnt play, and we will prob have a sell on clause so id snap covo’s hands off. with elliott and kyle as back up we are ok, want players who will die for the shirt, will be interested to know though if SEB as a similar clause like he insisted plymouth put in his contract thus helping us get him for what can only be described as a knock down fee. i.e not promoted can leave for 2m etc??

It’s a shame, but these things happen in football it does now look likely that freddy will leave in the summer unless steve morgan settles for what micks achieved this, All we can do as fans is wait and see.

  33. Stourbridge Wolf said:

I am getting sick of all you boo boys. Your so shallow. It is Mick out when we lose or draw. OK so the Eastwood thing is making him look stupid. I agree but Mick is doing far betting that previous managers. Look, each year we have a good year and then a poor year normally finishing around 10th. This always causes the board o sack the manager. Look what happened with Dave Jones. Mick had a great year and we are in with a shout this year. We are peaking at the right time. As for Freddy, my view is that he should be allowed to go out on loan to play and prove himself. If he scores, Wolves will be in a position to then decide whether he is betting that what we have. I am disapointed that he has not had his chance at Wolves and it is clear that Mick is not going to chance his striking partnership when Keogh and SEB are scoring. The problem with loaning Eastwood now is that there are just not enough games for him to get sharp again.

ive had enough now i mean what has the poor chap gotta do to get into this side. He scores two in midweek for his country and mccarthy still insists on leaving him on the bench. i cannot see why he prefers Kyle over Eastwood.

freddie should of been loaned out months back with a 24 hour recall included in the deal .
Issue is mick brought to many strikers to the club and expected instant results .
In Ebanks-Blake we got them luckily Freddy , and Elliot just needed some games under their belts
In Jay Boothroyd we still have a talented striker linked to the club .

MCARTHY IS USELESS, INCEY WOULD HAVE HAD US TOP AND VIRTUALLY PROMOTED BY NOW.

SEB, FREDDY AND ANDY KEOGH..AND MCARTHY OUT!!

lets just wait a minute, remember robbie keane 6 mil to cov then they sold him for 10 mil lets push cov for 2.8 mil and see what they offer, because if eastwood is’nt happy then it’s got to be a done deal in the summer plus with the extra millions off the deal we can buy keane back when we win the play off final well we can dream, still UP THE WOLVES.

I also heard that Birmingham are interested in Jarvis and Blackburn in Kightly. THE FACT IS WE ARE A RELATIVELY RICH CLUB AND DON’T NEED THE MONEY! So if someone comes in for Kightly or Jarvis, tell them to BLEEP off! If we fail to gain promotion and lose such players, we will have to build a squad again! Then how many seasons does it last before the next few stars are snapped up! This gets me so angry it’s untrue, but that’s football. COME ON YOU WOLVES!

  43. DudzieWolf said:

All…Cov are making the move not us. We don’t and really should not accept this money cos we don’t need it, we have three quality strikers now and Coleman wants his hands on one of them. If SEB or Keogh got injured who would you rather see up front, Freddie or Elliott/Kyle/Ward/Bothroyd. Freddie has silky skills and could easily now take over if one of the other two got injured, besides who do you think is pushing SEB and Keogh for their places. It aint the others. Freddie will get his chance one day I hope & as injuries/suspensions are inevitable, the only way we should let him go is for his own sake if he requests it or when the others get back and they get picked ahead of him. I do think if the latter happens he will hand in his own request anyway. I am a Freddie fan but then no-one is bigger than the club and should he come back to haunt us then so be it

All you dissenters, just listen to yourselves! If you are loyal fans/supporters then you’d GET BEHIND THE TEAM and you’d do it NOW. MM has always said that he’ll be glad to be judged at the end of the season. Fair enough and quite right. But with 6 games to go, we’re in a play-off spot, got a game in hand, 2 away and 4 homes left, all to play for, and our destiny is in our own hands - all as MM said it would be all along. Believe in OUR MANAGER, believe in the team he picks, and cut out the bull***t about Freddie. It’s a team effort from now to the end of the season so let’s show the WHOLE team that we’re ALL behind them!!!

28 So you think elliot and kyle as back ups they are useless kyle could not get in coventrys side i think your knowledge of football aint to good.

  48. Mark said:

2m sounds good for a player thats hardly played, he’s no use to wolves while he’s sat on the bench and i don’t think he would even be on the bench if kightly and Edwards(David) were fit. get rid of him now while clubs are interested otherwise he will only go for free. CMON WOLVES

  49. Veinsofgoldbaby said:

We can try and hold onto Freddy. However, if he doesn’t get enough starts he’s stated he wants to leave in the summer.Do not keep unhappy players.
The trouble is S.Ward and Elliott are lightweight not starting 11 . FACT.. Offload them FIRST and D.Ward. 2 Centre halves needed, how many times do i have too say it !!!

It is not just because of the Eastwood saga that we want muppet mick out, it is only because of his arrogance that we are struggling to make the play offs. Look at the fools arrogance over Steven Ward and Elliot then donkey Kyle and off loading Dan Jones on loan aswell as his farcical tactical decisions. I say if we win the play offs sack the mug at Wembley on the pitch just as the final whistle goes.

  55. Chris said:

I can understand were all the comments are coming from, but as what someone said coventry came to us rather than the other way around. I personally think eastwood would be a far effective player for us in the premiership than kyle. Sure, we’ve got to make it there first, but how much would it then cost to purchase a replacement!? Definitely more than the £1.5M we paid for eastwood

  56. Spanish Ray. said:

MM.Open your eyes.Keep Freddie, send Kyle packing and tell Coleman to keep his big mouth shut. This is the wrong time of the season to start unsettling players everyone should be focused on the run in to the end of the season.Perhaps thats why Coleman has not been successful as a manager yet.

  57. Steve Bull Stand said:

There is certainly no point is keeping both Eastwood and McCarthy cause whatever has created a problem between them isn’t going to go away. So one of them must leave in the summer but lets forget about that until then - the important thing now is that we are in the top 6 and the next home game would be a nice one to win.

  58. John (Hants) said:

#38. I have come across some complete buffoons in my time and you really are up there with them. Why bother posting anything at all when you just come out with such completely inane drivel. To say Ince would have up there by now is utter rubbish. He is too inexperienced and IMO NOT suitable for this club. To then state SEB, Freddy, Keough and MM out you really are a class “A” plant pot. Wolves don’t need people like you so get yourself off to school with the rest of the 5 year olds.

has anyone actually noticed although freddy hasnt scored for while

  60. Breretonwolf said:

WHY??????? SEB and AK are doing the business. The only time I would start FE instead of one of them is if either get injured or suspended, or if SEB gets a jail sentence after his court case. I would say, however that FE would be my first choice to replace either in those circumstances. Let’s quit all of the nonsense that gets spouted about a striker who has not yet set Molineux alight with performances.

  61. debigbadwolfman said:

personally i would try and offload elliot(to coventry please) and keep freddy in case of an injury to seb,and would keep switching him with keough when he’s not doing it. not kyles biggest fan but he has done ok when he has been called upon and if we are in the championship next season he maybe well worth keeping as a different option up front, would also offload bothroyd too he just hasn’t done the business BUT WE MUST!MUST! PLEASE MICK KEEP FREDDY! WELL DONE MM AND ALL THE TEAM FOR A GREAT PERFORMANCE against charlton,if the team plays like that with the same effort and commitment the fans will be behind you, the team and the manager all the way lose, win or draw “UP THE WOLVES”

  62. newton wolf said:

Football glorious football, those last fifteen minutes on Saturday were everything for the soccer junkie and wolves supporter.
But their first goal, same as Morrison for Palace at Molineux, a peel off and an unmarked player on the edge of the box away from the queue for a cross - don`t we learn from our mistakes. One factor in our current run are the injuries to Ward and Elliot so MM can`t pick them, only Collins to get rid of and we may have a side. With the resources at Wolves we should be promoted already, its MM and his barmy selections & tactics that have held us back.
