Charlton Athletic 2 Wolves 3
Karl Henry’s last gasp winner gave Wolves an incredible win which moves them into the play-off places.
Wolves twice went ahead through Sylvan Ebanks-Blake but it looked like Charlton would grab an undeserved point when Leroy Lita headed home in the 90th minute.
But Wolves went straight up the other end and, with the last kick of the game, Henry tapped home Kevin Kyle’s cross to spark manic celebrations.
Earlier in the game, in-form Ebanks-Blake scored once in each half as he took his season’s tally to 22.
The ex-Plymouth man opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour when he fired home from Andy Keogh’s pass.
Wolves were by far the better side early on but were caught cold when Charlton levelled on the half hour.
A deep cross was volleyed home by Greg Halford as Alan Pardew’s play-off chasers got back on level terms.
That setback did not deter Wolves and Ebanks-Blake hit the post at the end of the half.
Both sides had opportunities in the second period but it was the £1.5 million January signing who seemed to have grabbed the all-important winner.
There was 10 minutes left on the clock when Ebanks-Blake, who has now scored seven in seven games, produced a superb finish to put Wolves 2-1 in front.
But just as Wolves looked set for the win that would move them into sixth, Lita headed Sam Sodje’s cross past Wayne Hennessey.
There was one further twist as three minutes into time added on, Wolves’ pressure was rewarded with Henry’s winner.
The goal capped a fine display from Wolves, who move one point ahead of Ipswich into sixth.

16. Debenham Wolf - We weren’t lucky!! We missed an open goal and Charlton should have been down to 10 men. We won on merit. Fair enough, we were under the cosh for a while, but that’s what the run in is all about.
OH YES OH YES OH YES it is never easy being a wolves fan but being the only wolves fan in the pub down in rainy Portsmouth. What can i say it was fantastic. Played well and got what we deserved maybe just maybe the home fans will get behind the team rather than get on their backs. If the team are winning why shout for Fredy Keough and SEB were fantastic. Kiely also made a huge impact when he came on sod give the lad a chance. ON another note i will be the only one in pompey not watching the game next weekend. Wolves till i die

An exceptional win, totally against previous form. If the team has started to gel and produce attractive match-winning form then I am thrilled. I have been shouting on the team for 53 years!
I just have to ask, why it has taken up until the last few games to get the team motivated like this.
Before Christmas, when it all started to go wrong there were big troubles in this club that were not reported, but which resulted in Mick wanting away, and his name was linked with N. Korea and Eire jobs.
He has come back, and once again eventually got interested in Wolves. I say, “Welcome back Mick, but don’t try kidding us any more! We have had enough bull-sh*it, now just get us into the Premiership!”

Mick got his tactics spot on again today.No one player is bigger than our club which was shown by the never die spirit shown earlier. The only player that did not seem overjoyed at the final whistle was Freddy. I`m afraid Freddys days at the Mol are getting shorter. One thing is for sure is that he will not be here next season. Am i worried,no. The sooner he goes the better as all we seem to have is unrest and squabbles around the supporters. Cov are apparently going to come back in with a £2m bid end of season. A great result by Wolves today in a pulsating match that ended our sequence of eight matches without a win on the box. SEB is simply fantastic while George Elokobi is another good buy by MM. And don`t forget who made the winner for Karl Henry - Kevin Kyle - another January signing by MM. I was very anxious towards the end and thought here we go again no win on the box. But a great team effort by all the boys in Gold and Black gave us all Malta Wolves fans and those scattered around the world a fantastic feeling that we will saviour for the next fortnight. Now it`s Bristol City a team that on this form Wolves are capable of getting the getter of our friend Michael McEndoe and co. So come on Wolves get to the Premier League once again.

obviously the goal scorers are always going to get the headlines, and boy does SEB deserve them after yesterday, but for me the man of the match was Karl HENRY….for someone who cannot pass forward, I dont think he played more than 5 backwards/sideways passes inthe entire game, and having missed that sitter right on half time, to find the energy he did for the winner just about topped off an outstanding performance from the lad……..IF we can win our home games, automatic promotion is still a possibility, because i personally dont see us losing away from the mol for the rest of the season

Goal of the season no doubt but keep your feet on the ground, it is not “prem here we come ” or anything like it yet. We are walking a tight rope for 6th place that is all,if Bristol turn us over (any money on McIndoe scoring?) and it is as you were. We sneaked in via the play offs once and it cost us in terms of preparation and time/players available to us for the the promotion. Having been a critic of Muppet Mick since the turn of the year at least its nice to see 1 of the main reasons for my criticism has obviously been acted on.Namely his crazy policy of playing his favourites anywhere as long as they’re playing,we’re looking a lot better balanced now.Just goes to show that if he hadn’t been so stubborn and took on board what a lot of people were saying months ago then who knows how further up the league we might be by now.
Wolves fans are bi-polar! Loving it, but football can kick you in the teeth especially when you think you’ve cracked it. I think we have the lads to keep it rolling on but I do worry about our centre back problem with regards to speed and movement.

Great all round performance from the boss and the players. Gray and Jarvis were both excellent, especially in the first half and simply run out of legs later in the game. Good substitutions at the right time, kyle and eastwood both made an impression on the game, so well done to them and Mick.

2 95th minute goals and a late one against Scunthorpe can’t hide the fact that we’re an average team with 3 star players….SEB, Kightly and Hennessy….and with a distinctly average manager, with the current squad we would come straight back down!

Someone actually wrote “Mick got his tactics spot on today”, incredulous. After we went 2-1 up he took off Michael Gray, for me the best player on the pitch, took off SEB and brought on Kyle, and said to the team “Shut up shop!” Then had the temerity to say to the Sky man that he was disappointed that we retreated in the final third of the game. When Charlton equalised I was ready to crucify McCarthy for his substitutions, his negativity and his general naivity. Let me tell you, fellow Wolves fans, we won that game despite of, not because of McCarthy. We have alot of talent in our squad, we have to get rid of MM to realise our potential.

A close second for player of the match has to be Micky Gray, he was on the right wing, turns up on the left, did some time in the middle, put some tackles in, got fouled a few times, had a 30 yard whizzer that was just wide and popped up in defence a few times. Its a pain when he loses for pace, but for effort - 110%. Deserves his place in the team - FE please take note.

151-Notts Wolves. What are you on? He took Gray off because he was shattered. replaced him with that “defensive midfielder,” Gibson. (Who would describe Gibson as a defensive substitution, but you?) He brought on a striker for his second sub (Freddy Eastwood) and then Kevin Kyle as a striking option so that SEB could get a deserved standing ovation on his own. The team did get pushed back, as Charlton (the home team) started pushing forward to try and salvage a point. Kyle was still playing as a striking option when Henry found him with a pass forward, and then our defensive midfielder, that you boo boys say can only play like a crab, runs sixty-odd yards to get on the end of an -nch-perfect pass from “thatdonkey” Kevin Kyle to score the winner. (I didn’t see the famed Mr Eastwood busting a gut to give Kyle an outlet, by the way.)
For some, like you, the glass will always be “half empty.” Okay, Mick McCarthy has made big mistakes thsi season, but he seems to be getting it right when it matters. We will yet lose more matches in all likeliehood, but we are in with a chance of at least the play-offs. Two other pre-season favourites for promotion, Sheffield United and Charlton, would love to be in our position right now.

Let’s keep this in perspective. It was a great win and an exciting game, but we sneaked it with a last minute winner. Why was Mick inclined to take off an electric SEB at a time when he was up for a hat trick and his pace would have been ideal to hit CA on the break?
One performance (ok two if you count the home draw v QPR) does not make a season. Wolves fans seems to get carried away and forget all the bad games in an instant.
We may be in 6th place now, but just look at our remaining fixtures! If (and it’s a big IF) we make the play offs, we will be the form club and have the momentum. But until now, we’ve not done well against the top sides and we have to play a few more yet. So anyone counting chickens and saying MM is doing the business is frankly deluded. Last year we over achieved. This year (so far) we have under achieved and performances have not been good on the whole. The squad is definitely better than last year, but the manager’s use of players is questionable if not naive!
I’d love to see us get 4 points from Bristol and WBA, which I think is what is needed and if we do then we could be favourites for 6th place and even maybe the play offs with that kind of form. But I can see it being a last game of the season cliff hanger again and us needing a miracle.

Wolves last minute win at Chartlton was one of the best WW games I have ever seen in 48 years suporting them. THE GAMES HAD EVERYTHING. 3 superb goals. 100% commitment from the team. I was close to SEB as he scored that stunning second goal. What a goal, what a player. I was so happy to be singing and shouting on the train with the happy Wolves faithful after the games. There is still aproblem for Wolves in that the defence managed to allow the opposition to score two goals. If the defenders spent more time marking players, and watching the ball ready to move instead of silly tricks like holding the oppositions shirts, we may be able to defend.
Craddock spent more time holding shirts and snarling than he did marking with intent and purpose. Childish is the the word that springs to mind.His maaner of challenging the referee should be stamped out by M.M. The major improvement was that the team did battle.
Gray is a footballer but he does need runners to play with him as he lacks that all essential ingrediant. pace. He gets in the right positions but, unless you give him the ball when he wants it, all of his good work is wasted.There is still a tendency for many of the players to act as spectators. Many players still cannot pass a ball first time without stopping the ball, the ball is made round so as you can roll it, If stopping it dead was a feature of the game, the ball would have been fitted with brakes.
Unless the short comings can be sorted out,forget Premier League football. There are enough talented football players within the club, it is up to MM and the coaches to re-double there efforts and bring out the best in them.
