Albion 4 Colchester 3

albionbadge1.jpg

16.57: It’s all over. What a game. Albion snatch a vital victory to keep their pormotion hopes alive.

16.54:” GOAL Albion have snatched it Bednar in the 93nd minute!!! He plants home Brunt’s cross for a crucial winner. The Hawthonrs erupts.

16.51: GOAl Albion level in the dying minutes. Substitute Morrison fires home a terrific shot from outside the area.

16.50: The only bright spot for Baggies fans is other results. Stoke, Bristol City drawing and Watford losing. It’s Hull that are the only team on a run.

16.48: It’s all Baggies in the closing stages as they trhrow everything at Colchester. It has been a remarkable game.

16.43: 12 minutes remaining at the Hawthorns for Albion to get something on a potentially decisive weekend.

16.37: GOAL Shock horror, Colchester lead and it’s Kevin Lisbie. Kiely can only parry a long range shot and the striker follows in to score.

16.35: More Baggies pressure, Gera going close as Robinson battles on with a head bandage.

16.34: Tony Mowbray goes for the jugular by bringing on striker Miller for Hoefkens.

16.30: Phillips is convinced he should have had a penalty when he fell under Coyne’s challenge but the referee says no.

16.28: The tension has clearly got to Colchester boss Geraint Williams, he is ordered into the stands for comments to the fourth official.

16.23: Now it’s Gera’s turn to have a crack. He sends a volley over, can Colchester hold out for another 25 minutes?

16.20: Brunt fires over the bar as the Baggies continue to press for the fifth goal of the game.

16.18: Two more good chances for Albion, first Robinson fires wide then Bednar turns the ball over the bar from six yards.

16.15: Madeley: “The second half has started the same as the first ended with the home side totally dominant.”

16.13: It’s all Albion in the second half, they are piling on the pressure.

16.12: Clement almost has an instant impact shooting wide from 12 yards following Greening’s corner.

16.11: Albion need the points with Bristol City, Stoke and Hull all winning.

16.08: Change at the start of the second half as Cesar is replaced by Clement.

15.50: Half time at the Hawthorns and there has certainly been entertainment if nothing else. Phillips tests Gerken with the last action of the half.

15.48: Two minutes of injury time at the end of the first half.

15.46: Superb turnaround for Albion and another Hawthorns rollercoaster. It’s never dull.

15.40: GOAL Two minutes later and Albion are level, Brunt the scorer.

Cracking goal, he beats two defenders, cutting inside and unleashes a 25 yarder past Dean Gerken.

15.37: GOAL Phillips pulls one back for Albion just before half time. Crucial and it’s that man Phillips again - his 22nd of the season.

15.34: Albion continue to enjoy all the possession but frustration is the order of the day for most in the ground.

15.32: Dowunder Baggies wants Kiely replaced by the Aussie Kylie. The Baggies don’t even have a keeper on the bench today.

15.28: Albion go close to pulling one back, Phillips’ shot from distance brushing the post.

15.27: Madeley says the home fans are blaming keeper Kiely for the second.

He says: “The second goal saw loud boos ringing out from behind Kiely’s goal in the Birmingham Road End.”

The veteran keeper was also jeered as he next touched the ball. It appears to be turning a bit ugly at the Hawthorns.

15.26: DownunderBaggie: “Typical start to a must win game. Come on Baggies.”

15.23: In other action Stoke lead at Sheff Wed and Hull are 2-0 up at Watford.

15.21: crazygeorgenz says: “Hangs on folks, it’s not April Fools Day until Tuesday.”

15.20: There is an air of shock around The Hawthorns. Albion looked so in control only to be hit by a double sucker punch.

15.17: GOAL It gets worse for Albion, now it’s two, Elito the scorer, the visitors have had two attacks and scored two.

This one is a cracker, Kiely’s poor punch falls to Elito and he rifles in a superb shot from 25 yards.

15.15: GOAL Colchester take the lead, it comes on the break with the visitors first real attack. Chris Coyne the scorer, spectacular overhead kick as the ball came into the box.

15.13: Steve Madeley, watching this one for us, says Albion have made a “dominant” start.

15.10: Albion as expected are dominating possession but no clear cut chances so far for either side.

15.06: It’s all Albion pressure and Colchester lose an early casualty, Baldwin going off injured and replaced by Virgo.

15.04: Hull take an early lead against Watford in the Championship.

15.01: Brunt marks his return to the side with a 20-yard drive over the bar in the first minute.

15.00: We are underway at a wet and windy Hawthorns.

14.47: If Wembley is still on your mind have a look at Baggies in ticket rush

14.30: A poster called 2007/8 champions is certainly in optimistic mood today (see the comments section below).

Have your say on the Baggies all afternoon. We will post the most interesting on the text commentary.

14.24: Two changes for Albion as Brunt and Bednar return in place of Miller and Pele.

Albion: Kiely, Hoefkens, Albrechtsen, Cesar, Robinson, Gera, Koren, Brunt, Greening, Phillips, Bednar

Subs: Miller, Morrison, Clement, Kim, Pele.

14.18: Tony Mowbray has more options for his team today with Chris Brunt and James Morrison back in midfield, plus Neil Clement available in defence.

14.04: Colchester boss Geraint Williams apparently said today’s game is not “do or die” for the U’s, which either means he is a hopeless optimist or they are already dead.

For the record Colchester are 11 points adrift with six games to go. That is down in my book.

14.00: Forget Wembley and all that, it’s a must-win for Albion.

At home to bottom of the table Colchester should be three points but the Baggies home form has been a little suspect of late.

Maybe Mr.Peace has so much confidence in our team that he has instructed TM to only qualify for the play-offs as it may improve merchandise sales. Still ain’t it great to be an Albion fan and know that we have to play all the way to the end of the season. Some teams will get to give debuts to teenagers in a few weeks - wonder who Mick will use.

  15. Greg Cooper said:

And with Hull and Stoke both leading as well, it looks like your hopes of the top two are fading fast.

Never mind, I’m sure Mowbray (and of course terrywalsallbaggie) will keep referring to your games in hand, and how ‘if’ you win them you’ll be… what? third? fourth? How can your lot throw it away so casually? I thought we had it bad being Wolves fans!!

Finally good luck to our black country cousins at wembley

This is the turning point ,2 points behind stoke 2 games in hand. The double is on ,a win at cardif and we are second.

  61. The Real Bully said:

Got back to my car to find that some low life had broken into it. Even that couldn’t put a damper on a great win. Shame on the tiny minority that booed Dean Kiely. HE PLAYS FOR OUR TEAM YOU MORONS. Sorry I don’t usually call people offensive names but what else would you call them? Also serves right the faint hearts that went home when Colchester got their third. Oh ye of little faith.
In tribute to TWB and his friend Worcester. Going up the hard way. BOING BOING.

  62. WORCESTERBAGGIE said:

4-3 ,whos laughing now you dozy dinglets,,,,you dont learn you lot do ya,never write the mowbray army off,i hope portsmouth have the same attitude towards us as you and we will turn them over,,,,DOING THE DOUBLE THE MOWBRAY WAY,,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,OH YES..

  63. Sandwell PAMPERS! said:

cor wait to see yo PAMPERS cos we will beat yo easy..

  64. gornal-baggie said:

You know what really amazes me about the Wolves fans, they’re the only fans in the world that get more enjoyment out of the Albion losing than the Wolves actually winning?! Look at them all on here, running us down when we’re losing, it’s pathetic.

Why don’t you put more effort into supporting your own team, than keeping an eye on our results. Although it must be terrible living in our shadow, the gulf in class between the two is growing by the day.

Must be hard looking at our subs/reserve team and knowing it’s far superior to your first eleven. Nevermind.

  65. Michael said:

    61.
i think it is disgrace full of anyone to boo there own players.
as you know we have this problem at the molineux.
seems to me that whichever teams go up from this division are determined to do it the hard way.
just listened to the wolves match still shaking what a great day of football.
don’t know about you but i dont know how much more of this i can take.
should be a crackin’ game at the molineux.
both teams scoring goals at the moment but defences not looking too good.
may the best team win on the day.
stick one on pompey next week i cant stand them.
and yes i would rather you won than them. it might be something to do with that idiot with the bell.

  66. Mark Lloyd-Fitt said:

Great to come back with a 4-3 win, shows our never say die attitude. But defending! Oh dear, you will have to sort them out Mr Mowbray otherwise you can can forget promotion.

  67. frankthegas said:

How can we win the league if we playlike we did today, to go two goals down to a team bottom of the league is disgraceful.Kiely should be replaced he was at fault for all three goals,if we hadn’t the fire power we have in the forward line we would have lost that game today, and it would have been the goalkeepers, if fault kiely plays like that at wembley we wont stand a chance

  68. Bewdley Wolf said:

Can you imagine a Wolves Albion play off final? It would probably end up 13-12, not sure who to!

  69. Codsallwolf said:

15th April will be a cracker if both teams carry on this way. I wouldn’t write the wolves off with SEB and Keogh in such good form, plus a possible return of Kightley. Albion may have a batch of excellent strikers but, my god, SEB was on another level today.

  70. The Football Factory said:

59# GOLD & BLACK.. WHAT AN EMBARRASSMENT TO WOLVES YOU ARE!!!!

WHY NOT CHANGE YOUR NAME TO BLUE & WHITE INSTEAD. YOUR THE SORT OF SADDO THESE MUPPETS LOVE, IT MAKES ‘EM FEEL BIGGER THAN THEY ARE WHEN THEY ASSUME ALL WOLVES SUPPORTERS ARE AS WEAK AS YOU.

  71. real bully's stereo said:

lucky today but fair play to you, you went right to the end.

    61 - shame!!!

  72. The Halfords said:

Need to improve in defence but i thought clement played well when he came on in place of Ceaser.

    C’mon you BAGGIES

  73. Stourbaggie said:

How stupid do the Dingle fans (if you can call them that) look now.Would you like us to bring you something back from Wembley maybe a picture postcard from our second home as its the closest you will get to seeing the stadium

  74. no1baggiesfan said:

Will somebody please give keily his contact lenses back, before its too late, without the firepower we would definately have lost today and against premier teams it would have been 6-7 not 3. Time to give either Danek or get Luke steele a chance, they cant be much worse.

  75. Janet Griffiths said:

    61, The Real Bully
Where were you parked I saw two cars broke into under the motorway bridge on the way back to my car just a couple in front and feared the worst. I agree they are morons booing, yes Kiely was at fault for the goals but to boo our players doesnt help.

  76. Mark B said:

    62.
How many were there left in the ground to see the win?????

  77. Jonah said:

    64. You’ve got it in a nutshell.
What a bunch of thick Dingles on this thread, (especially Sandwell Pampers!). You all fail to realise that a game of football is for 90 minutes plus stoppage. Up the Baggies!!

  78. Ancient Wolf said:

#70, what a small mind you have. Vitriol and hatred are not virtues, you are the embarrassment to Wolves.

Baggies, this could be your turning point, good luck in the semis, but I hope we really stuff you next month.

An season of intrigue this is turning out to be.

  79. Cyril Randle said:

Thank Heaven No. 70 isn’t a NORMAL Wulfie. What a twisted outlook on life. This Championship league is worth ten of the Prem for sheer excitement alone. We win in the last few seconds, Wolves win in the last few seconds, The Black Country absolutely rockin’, we’re wobbly but still up there, Wolves running slap bang into form, SEB scores a goal of breathtaking quality, (ITV this morning), so, mister so-called ‘Football Factory’ is your long-lost element of humanity? Goals galore, you can’t predict what the end will be, but ay it bostin’??

  80. The Real Bully said:

    75 Janet.
Yes, one of those was mine. Time to find new parking spot I think.
On Kiely. I don’t like to criticise but the reason for not giving Danek a game was the language/communication problem with the defence. Yesterday it was noticable that there was virtually no understanding between the centre halves and the keeper. Is it too late to change or will we be left regretting not changing. I’m just glad it’s not my decision.
    76. Mark.
Thanks for your interest. Actually I was pleasantly surprised that not too many left early. The atmosphere at the end was fantastic, as if we’d just won the treble. You should try it.

  81. terrywembleybaggie said:

76 mark, me and my daughter was as always boing boing doing the double the MOWBURY WAY

  82. adie baker said:

More to the point…How many were there at the start? lol
Huffing and puffing the melton mowbray way more like.
With the strikers at your disposal the league should have been wrapped up a long time ago.
The defence and Kiely are still the achilles heel, teams have cottoned on, attack the albion and a result is on the cards.

    Play up pompey !!

  83. Michael said:

    64.
    you dont half talk crap.
we want our team to win first.
perhaps the fact that we where not playing till the evening would have something to do with it, or cant you tell the time.
as long as we keep winning i don’t care what you lot do.
and our best striker can play for an whole 90 minutes + injury time.

  84. Cantello Rocket 78 said:

Maybe the howlin’ woolfies will turn to sheep in a few weeks when Albion go up automatic and they do their usual early exit in the play-offs.Could any other club in the country reach the Baggies position (edge of promotion, semis of the cup)and get so much stick from local idiots who have spent most of the season slagging off their own team?Pathetic.

  85. frankthegas said:

Why do the dingles right on this site, haven’t they any thing to say about there own team.the dingles are that poor they have nothing to say about them.Give M-M a chance he might get you in the playoffs with a bit of luck
