Wolves blog: The Freddy debate

Freddy EastwoodI doubt that Freddy scoring a brace against the likes of Luxembourg will sway Mick McCarthy into giving him a starting birth against the Addicks on Saturday, writes Wolves blogger Nathan Lloyd.

For whatever reason, Mr Eastwood’s face doesn’t quite fit at Molineux and regardless of the impact he makes in his 25 minute cameo appearances from the bench, he seems destined never to become an established player at the club.

The latest chapter in the Freddy saga is the sorry revelation that Mick has seemingly tried and failed to ship him out to Coventry, although it’s becoming clear to many fans that Freddy was actually sent to Coventry at Wolves quite some time ago.

Apparently, Chris Coleman was livid when the deal didn’t go through, although I think the majority of Wolves fans will be bemused that it was even in the pipeline to begin with.

Unfortunately it looks almost certain that Freddy will leave the club in the summer to join a club where he can get a decent run of games.

Fans often debate on here and on many other Wolves forums about whether or not Freddy lives up to his billing or the hype that surrounds him.

Opinion is split and that difference in opinion is proving to be quite an unhealthy obsession for the fans.

So, is he any good or is Freddy just another in the long line of failed strikers we have had at this club; Frankowski, Bothroyd, Proudlock, Taylor, etc etc?

Back in November, Steve Morgan hailed him as the man to fire the goals to get us into the Premiership.

But since November, Freddy has had to play a supporting role, sometimes only coming on for five minutes or so at the end of a game.

I’ve said time and time again that I think we have a real gem of a player, someone who is exciting to watch and has great ability.

But just because a few fans in the South Bank chant your name, doesn’t necessarily mean you will get a starting slot in Mick’s team.

We all know that against Charlton, Mick is likely to stick with SEB and Keogh up front and as much as I’m a Freddy fan, I’d go along with that right now.

Keogh wasn’t brilliant against QPR, but he scored a couple of vital goals and on his day he is a real asset to the club.

And I wouldn’t stick Keogh out on the right wing as some have suggested.

Twoddle was the master of playing players out of position, but Mick has come close this season to claiming that crown.

Keogh would probably be as ineffective on the right flank as Stephen Ward was on the left.

I think serious questions have to be asked about Karl Henry’s inclusion in the starting 11 against Charlton.

Karl would probably be the first to admit that his form has been a bit on the dodgy side lately and I think he would benefit from a rest.

It’s amazing to think that even after our very average season that a play-off place is still there for the taking.

We have taken 14 points from our last seven games and are definitely coming into form at the right end of the season.

If we can get amongst a plummeting Charlton side on Saturday and grab the early initiative, I think the Addicks fans will get restless.

Whether Freddy plays a part in getting us to, or indeed winning, the play-offs is yet to be seen.

But with players like Jarvis, Keogh, Gray, Olofinjana and the brilliant SEB in form, perhaps we might not need him.

Good luck to the boys on Saturday, I’m going for a 2-1 win.

As an aside - I got a copy of City AM this morning on my way into work. On Friday’s, it has a weekend punters guide. There’s a fair bit of chat about this weekend’s game.

The tipster’s best bet was for Freddie Eastwood first goalscorer at 8/1. He also went for a Wolves win at odds of 45/17 (betfair price) and suggested 1-0 at 8/1 as well. He also said that Michael Kightly had been the goalgetter for Wolves this season although failed to mention that apart from the brief return in the FA Cup he’s been out since November!

I find it an absolute disgrace that MM has tried to ship Freddie out to Coventry. COVENTRY!!! FFS WHAT IS GOING ON!

MM bought Eastwood. What problem does he have with a guy who has said a few times this season that all he wants to do is play for Wolves. MM has preferred his favourite like Ward, Elliott, Jay B, and recently KK. It is a disgrace of the treatment MM has dished out on him. No wonder FE may want to leave to get away from the bullying that he is getting. MM is nothing more than a bully, using the media to keep giving cheap shots at FE.

FE was bought to score goals. Not to warm the bench. MM gave Elliott and Ward loads of chances to establish themselves but they havent. FE has shown for wales he is in it for the long haul but MM will not give him a chance. MM should start him against Charlton a team ironically tried to get FE in the summer. MM is the one who needs to go in the summer. He is a lacklustre, jammy git of a manager!

Now no doubt I will get the post saying, “You dont what your saying, blah blah blah” but you tell me this. Is MM the right man for wolves in the long term because lets face it. If we did get to the Premiership he will be dealing with better players with with maybe bigger personalities to deal with then with Freddies and if he cant hack that then just go away you plank!

MM OUT YOU JAMMMY GIT OF A MGR!

Freddy is a quality player - you’re right Nathan, he is exciting to watch, capable of getting goals out of nothing. In the Keogh debate, no-one has mentioned the fact that Freddy beat two players in the penalty area and laid on the equaliser for Keogh gainst QPR. MM’s handling of Freddy has been nothing short of scandalous. He took him out of the team when he was in the middle of a purple patch and that should NEVER, NEVER hapen to a striker. They thrive on goals and if you get dropped when you’re scoring them it is unforgiveable!!!!!

The fact is freddy eastwood scores 15+ goals for southend who did not want him to leave. eastwood had a hole host of clubs wanting his signature even west brom but he chose wolves everthing was great at the start for him scoreing ect. what i would like to know is why did we change our style of play at the start of the season when we were doing ok. ((players had to gel ect)). to the wolves parliament management ect, in this day and age attitudes and a difference of opinion should not come into the way of what real football fans want to see.

    Morning! Good Blog reg freddy!

As much as i appreciate Karl Henry work ethic, the lad just isnt good enough to play for Wolves. He hasnt got the quality compared to players we are used to seeing down the wolves. For etc Rae, Ince. Potter seems to have far more quality then Henry and i firmly believe that he was one of the reasons as to why were playing such good entertaing football last season. He is a fantastic passer of the ball and i believe he is a far better player and influences the game far more than karl Henry!! Would like to see Breen and Craddock back at the heart of the defence tommorrow. But i dnt
think MM is going to drop Collins do you ay?! Im going for a 1-1 draw! Which would be a good result…..

ive been accused on here of being a “freddy hater” but im not, just dont understand all this “freddy this, freddy that” rubbish. the player himself is embarrassed by it all so here is my view point on it.
i actually like freddy not as a god, messiah or the next bully, but as a striker who can as good feet, and can obviously hit a ball.
i would like to see him start but dont understand our “fans” point of sticking keogh on right wing!!! he is our top scorer ok he aint the worlds greatest finisher, but dont want him stuck on wing, do these people want him on wing because he can run and can play a bit too?? well if you were to take our top goalscorer from up top, i would prefer him behind the front two, in the middle where he can roam about not just being stuck on wing!!
but my view ultimately is, if keogh and SEB are scoring for “wolves” and freddy is scoring against luxembourg, germany or a select world XI for wales. then im sorry he cant play!!! because its the goals for wolves that count for me.
sorry but thats my view, and if all of you took of your “freddy tinted glasses” for one second then you would agree!!
yea he has been treated harshly by MM, and boy does MM get on my nerves with his tactics and so called “team selection” etc but something has happened behind the scenes, that no one know’s about. but he is MM’s signing like Bothroyd, who he has obviously had enough of and rightly in my view shipped out.

You talk the same rubbish about Freddy as the other
Freddy fans. Lets get it straight, 5 goals in about
his last 50 appearances at Championship level with
Wolves and Southend means he cannot do it at this
level. Before that sequence he scored a high proportion
from penalties! You lot like the look of him. Many years
ago Robert Rosario looked good according to my missus but
looking good is not what it is about!
Internationals are different, ask Healy! As for coming
on late, that is because he has failed to perform before
this period of being a sub.
Nothing so blind as the blind!

I was at the QPR game and think it would be madness to break up the Keogh SEB partnership that is starting to develop. Away at Charlton I think we should keep Eastwood on the bench and bring him on as needed as we did with QPR, but on home turf why not be positive and try all three up front?

  11. the wolf said:

Razor, you are spot on.His face clearly doesn’t fit and as long as MM is in charge it never will.He will move on in the summer and score for fun for somebody else.Keogh has had enough chances,he reminds me of Michael Branch.Branch too would run all day and could’t hit an elephants arse with a banjo. The Freddy Eastwood debate will come back to haunt MM,hes a goalscorer and you play players to their strengths. The way he has been treated at this club is a disgrace.

I totally agree. The ball is given away too cheaply by him. He is not good enough for this league. Get a good ball winning Ince type player in, and then see the difference.

  13. Andy said:

The lad is young and he’s moved away from the area he’s lived in for the first time. I appreciate that it can take time to settle to a new area but it would appear that a lot of what MM has done has only served to destabilise the lad further during a turbulent time. We may expect more from a player costing that amount of money - but it’s hardly Freddie’s fault is it? He didn’t ask for that price tag. Every team needs a hero of sorts - in the absence of Kites and Murray this season, Freddie seems to have assumed this mantle for many. Clearly, MM doesn’t like this - judging by his treatment. Does he have too much of the Romany free spirit for our no-(non)sense boss?

The fact that MM was prepared to let him leave suggests to me that the pair will never get on and, barring MM being relieved of duty, which I don’t believe will happen at the end of the season, it has to be in Freddie’s best interests to move on. Coventry would have been a rash decision although I’m sure Coleman would have treated him a darn sight better than he appears to have been treated at the Mol. It’s odd though - given the number of chances Bothroyd was given despite his pre-season gesture, before being shipped out on loan, you can only conclude that MM believes he made a wrong purchase, based on what he sees on the training ground.

It’s sad but it happens. Short of a new boss at the end of this season, which as I said earlier I don’t expect, enjoy the last few brief glimpes of him in a gold shirt over the next few weeks. If we see him next season, it’ll be him scoring against us and having a blinder no doubt.

i know lets just buy players and if after scoring in their first month for club and country and receiving championship player of the month (which isn’t a bad start to a career at a new club) lets just get rid of them.
yeah you make a lot of sense there don’t you.

I’d like to see Eastwood given another season as he is young and has probably made a few mistakes off

isn’t helping his case. In any event, I’m really more interested in the whole squad and the
players who are actually performing like SEB, Keogh and Jarvis. If Eastwood comes on and starts scoring
goals that’s fine, but if he isn’t taking his opportunities when they are presented to him, frankly,
he’s just another member of the squad.

I’m never one to suggest that players should be allowed to play back into form, but everybody who saw Freddy’s first few games, hopefully!, saw as i did that the lads got talent. Why doesnt he give him a chance?

It doesn’t make sense that MM wants Freddy out, unless there is a problem behind the scenes. Whats with loaning out players to our competitors? As the Bothroyd saga, that part at least is ridiculously stupid!

I would think Elliot and Ward would be out the door before anybody else!

And so the debate rages on !! As I’ve said previously I don’t think Freddie is our Messiah - yet. I believe he could be if he was paired with SEB with Keogh in a free roll between midfield and the front two. I doubt very much whether this will ever happen but on the face of things it’s got to be worth a go !! I honestly don’t think that he’s had a fair crack of the whip (and he may never)but why spend all that money and not give him a fair chance. Have things happened behind the scenes that we don’t and never will know about ? I know that this debate will go on and on but it would be nice to talk about something else for a change. No one seems to remember that we have a local derby coming up !! For once even this has got pushed in to the background !!

How anyone can say freddie is rubbish is beyond me.This bloke scored 4 goals in 5 games at the start of the season. Then he played for wales and scored against bulgaria away and since then MM dropped him. A striker needs a run of games to get his sharpness and confidence up. MM destroyed freddie this season. Freddie has not been given a chance to prove his qaulity. Makes me so angry when you see players like karl henry in the team week in week out and sometimes captain when he is at best average. Now this is a player who should be dropped indefinately.

  27. Freddies Right Foot said:

Freddies treatment at Wolves is a disgrace wether I believe he should play or not, he’s still a member of the squad and does not deserve to be treated in such a way, I dont think any player does. He’s obviously got talent and an eye for goal but lets face it, he’s never going to get that opportunity with MM at the helm, he’s come on as sub plenty of times and almost hit the target countless times. I’d call him unlucky because lets face it, if he’d put away the chances he’s had in recent months with shooting just over or just wide then we’d be looking at maybe 10 goals for Freddie for the season straight from the bench ! He’s a good lad and deserves better and for me as a big Eastwood fan, i think his future lies elsewhere. I’ll never forgive MM for his part in destroying Eastwoods chance to become a Molineux legend but life goes on and as long as the lads that pull on the shirt on matchday give 110% and score goals then I’m happy to be cheering whoever hits the back of the net. I suppose I’ll have to change my name next season too….

  29. Pondlife said:

Freddy is NOT our messiah. I really cannot grasp why there is so much anti-Mick feeling with regard to Eastwood. We have a much better goalscorer in SEB, and Keogh is definately a better support striker than Eastwood. Scoring two goals against luxembourg does not make you a world beater. So why do people insist that he should start? Are these people down at training everyday? SEB and keogh appear to be in good form and a good partnership is developing. All this season Mick has received criticism for not letting a partnership develop up front, why break one up to shoe-horn Eastwood in? Toschack and Davies are bound to talk Freddy up, if he’s playing regularly he’ll be fitter for internationals. If you ask me, It says more about the quality of Welsh strikers, than the fact he doesn’t start for us.

Nathan, Good blog. I know it must be difficult writing something that anyone can shoot you down on. Keep up the good work. (I won’t always agree with you though.) earlier, i wrote:-

“Can I add something else to this discusion? So far, the only word that we have concerning this “deal” is from a Coventry newspaper. Has Coleman said it was Freddy Eastwood? has their official website said it was Freddy Eastwood? Have MM or JM said it was Freddy Eastwood? Has Freddy Eastwood said it was him? Some journalist from a local rag says it was Freddy Eastwood, and everyone on here jumps up and down in anger. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT IT WAS EVER FREDDY EASTWOOD!! I work with Coventry fans, and they think that the striker in question was actually Robbie Earnshaw, and the club involved was Derby. Tie that in with a statement from Derby early in the week where they stated that they were willing to offload Earnshaw, even if they made a loss on the deal, and it seems far more credible. He is ALSO an international striker, with proven goalscoring at this level.

You are all so willing to jump on the bandwagon, and slate MM and JM, and there isn’t a shred of evidence to prove it. Surely you all know what journalists are like. They never let truth stand in the way of a good story.

IF Mick McCarthy was to let Freddy Eastwood go at this stage of the season, and it is a BIG IF, it would be lunacy. You all know that I am not of the opinion that Freddy Eastwod is the best striker at the club. He is AT lEAST the third best though. He has obvious talent that, given the work rate he showed against Scunthorpe at home last week, he could go on to be a twenty goals per season striker that you Freddy fans believe he is. With that work-rate, he would be a regular starter. I know that many of you don’t believe that is his natural game, but he showed me enough against Scunny to believe it can be, and he could then go on and score goals for fun. To let him go before we know that he is willing to do that would be crazy. I don’t personally believe that MM is that dumb. When you lot slated MM after the Scunny game for saying that was how he had wanted Freddy to play all season, he was, I believe, not trying to take credit for how Freddy played in that game. He was saying that is how he wants Freddy to play, and it is what will get Freddy a regular starting spot. The fact that Freddy didn’t start on Saturday was possibly the fact that Mick wanted to see if Freddy was willing to do that week in and week out before handing him the start.”

We still don’t know that MM really tried to get rid of Freddy Eastwood, and still he gets slated for it.

    Prawn Sandwiches anyone?

  34. Cpt Wolves said:

It’s a bit of a tired argument, the whole Freddy thing. He has already been sent to Coventry and now Mick is trying to turn that metaphor into reality.

For me, Keogh lacks bite and the quality to be ahead of Freddy in the pecking order. Freddies passing recently has been sublime and I still think if we give him a run in the team he would be massive for us.

Fans who didn’t attend the QPR game will see that Keogh’s name appears on the scoresheet twice and presume he was brillant. Anyone remember Adam Proudlock’s hatrick against Bradford away? I was there that day and he had 3 touches of the ball. Freddy is just on another level, any football fan worth is salt can see that.

Hopefully next season, when Mick has gone and Ince, Big Sam or however takes over comes in, we can get the SEB & Fred partnership I think the club deserves.

There is no doubt this debate is splitting the club, but to be honest if Michael Mouse was up front and we got promoted i couldnt care less! Players will come and go, its the club that will always be here. 40.SE To me freddy is a player who likes to cut in from the wings and is not afraid of taking anyone on and unleashing a shot at goal. tactically i’d like to see him have a free role, we may not control games period but believe me we would have more attempts at the oppositions goal, playing seb and keogh and freddy would in no doubt open the field of play up. but mick likes to keep things tight.

The truth of the matter is that we cannot afford to obtain any less than 7 points from our next
3 matches. If we do not I suspect our season will almost be over. It is almost impossible to second-
guess the result of the West Brom home match as that could go either way or both teams could close each
other down again, as witnessed at the Hawthornes.
Charlton, tomorrow is a tricky match and their club’s history points to a mini-collapse at the end of
each season. We seem to be witnessing that again this Year.
The one match I do expect us to win is at Ashton Gate. Bristol City seem to be wobbling now that they
are reaching the finishing post. The one drawback is that Michael McIndoe is likely to fired up for
that match and against our wobbly defence that could be a problem.

The whole prolonged debate about Freddy Eastwood has just proven what a stubborn and ultimately
poor Manager Mick McCarthy is. And no, I am not writing this from my office at the Stadium of Light !!

Can I just say I loved the article in yesterday’s paper regarding the different views from around the country on the Championship.

Always enjoy Nath’s blogs but unfortunately we will never know the truth about Freddy so why bother discuss it?

Do you we could still get a top 2 place? Daft it may sound, but if we win at Charlton and Bristol City lose at home to Norwich, we be just 6 points behind and with a better goals (+).

I’m not a Mick fan but I say stick with him and the lads until the season is done and dusted. No team in this division is head and shoulders above the rest and we have as much chance as anyone else of climbing out.

    COME ON WOLVES!

For some reason, yesterday’s message board about the Early Birds would not accept my posting, so I’ll try here. Since I will be 60 in December and there are no concessions until 65, this will be my last season ticket. I wonder how many of those who did not renew were in this position?

  56. Tom said:

    Who can McCarthy drop?
Keogh who scored two in his last game?
or SEB who is the second top scorer in the league?
I don’t think Eastwood will be playing at the weekend!
Also Were away, and when were away Mick likes to mess with things. Playing 4-5-1’s and all sorts. Who knows he may play 4-3-3 with Eastwood envolved.
I don’t understand whas happend to Karl Henry - last season he was great! he got voted 3rd in the fans favorite player award, behind Matt Murray and Micheal Kightly and he missed 4 months of theat season injured. But since that injury he has never been the same. he doesnt look quite as composed and his decision making has wavered. he has also struggled to spread the play wide. But are Darron Gibson and Darron Potter better than him?
    Whats happend to Dave Edwards?
When i’ve seen Dave Edwards play he’s brought an attacking flair from the midfeild that we havent seen before from McCarthy.

remember managers come and go,hopefully this idiot soon, some better than others but also remember the quality in young players we have including freddie at the moment. Also the strength in depth that is needed in the premiership, if we ever get there under this clown. We have lost quality in Lescott and others, why let freddie leave its players like him who will take us forward not kyle, s ward and elliot. Wake up morgan get a grip.

Perhaps I can point this out in plain English in a different way…
    This season Freddy has
    27 Championship appearances
3 goals (1 against Sheff Wed and 2 against Blackpool - all in August)
    Your opinion…
But he’s a natural goalscorer - Yes, in League 1 and below.
    But I hate McCarthy.
But he doesn’t get on the pitch except for a few minutes.
But I don’t like statistics. AARRGGHH! The only relevant statistic
for a forward is goals scored. He doesn’t score!!!!!!!!!!!!

  59. Bradmore Massive said:

You don’t seem to mention the assists from Freddy?

And you can’t deny he has definate quality. Stats are for people who don’t actually go along and watch the games, and given your name I’m guessing you fall under that category?

  60. wednesbury1 said:

berlin wolf why single freddy out with your stats why not any other player if your told to do or play somewhere on the park you do it, your payed by the club, the manager makes the desicions whats needed from you! funny thing is does eastwood score for wales whats your stats on that.

  61. Berlin Wolf said:

Right I have had enough of this chit chat! No more from me after this one.
I checked out the stats on our wonderful freescoring hero last season with Southend.
    42 Championship appearances.
    11 goals including three penalties.
That means 8 goals in open play in 42 appearances.
    THAT IS NOT PROLIFIC!
    THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT.

How condescending do you want to be towards your fellow Wolves fans? We can all spout stats, but the real story happens out on the field. Freddy is a joy to watch and we don’t have many of those type of players at the club.

Its no accident that his name is chanting from the stands, Wolves fans are not stupid, they know a decent player when they see one.

performance/effectiveness for WWFC, not about me or

The most entertaining players is the ones we have never seen (like Freddy), as the one we have seen is boring.
Facts about Eastwoods career at Southend last season is important - facts about Eastwoods career at Wolves this season is just rubbish and stupid.

Your maths are worrying Berlin Wolf. You say (in post 35) 12 starts, 4 goals. That’s 1 goal every 3 starts. So if he’d started all 39 games that would be 13 goals which would make him…our top scorer!

  75. SUPERSTARDJWOLVES said:

It is Freddie best check the wolves website, MM the thicko has admitted getting rid of FE. So in your words it is lunacy and he is as stupid as playing KK, or Wardy!

  76. Breretonwolf said:

75, Hand up. I said it would be, and it is. Different reasons, I suspect to you though. I still think that Eastwood is the natural replacement if SEB gets jailed, or SEB or AK get injured. Eastwood still has a lot to prove for me, but against Scunny he looked the part when he came on. His problem though is that SEB and Keogh look like a partnership that will score regularly. If they don’t, Eastwood is the next best choice.

  77. Get Set Freddie Go said:

Lets just all unite and get behind the team on Saturday…. results go our way we could be in the top 6 and top 2 by May!

I understand everyones gripes with the treatment of Freddy….it is baffling why MM signed him in the 1st place. However, the treatment of Keogh at home to QPR was disgraceful and everyone who chanted for Freddy when Keogh missed that chance, shld be ashamed. Keogh is only 21 yrs old, a massive prospect and cld be a real cult hero at wolves for the next 10 years……unless u people hound him out. Ok, his needs to work on his finishing but, come on, lets get right behind him and give him confidence and maybe he will take us into the plays offs like he did last season….and maybe further.

29,Ditto. SEB is the number 1 sriker, hes quick, powerful and he is scoring goals,Keogh is number 2.until Eastwood starts scoring for WOLVES be it,the first team or the reserves,he will be on the bench. He has done well in the last two games, but he still has not scored.if hes as good as some fans think he is, i would expected more goals even from the limited chances hes had.

  84. larry ryder said:

    1. If you spend £ 1.5 million on a striker you surely shoul try nd accommodate his style of play rather than ask him to change his. Can you imagine a conversation between Bill Nicholson and Jimmy Greaves or Matt Busby and George Best that they were going to be dropped because they didn,t run around a lot.

The problem with Freddi is that when he is given 5, 10 or 20 minutes runout he is under intense pressure to scoe as he knows it is the only way he is in with a chance of a full game. With Wales this is not the case, he has a manager who overtly backs hime and accommodates his style of play.

The main issue for the supporters is that Mr Mcarthy is not truthful about his treatment of Eastwood. He is only on the bench at all because of the hue and cry there woiuld be if he was dropped altogether.

In respect of Bothroyd I am convinced he was sent to Stoke as a double agent to hijack their promotion efforts

I know you get touchy about spelling, Nathan, but the idea of Freddy getting a starting birth, rather than a starting berth, conjures up a rare image.

As a regular match go`er,(Billy Quiet S T) my view on the Freddy debate is that the lad has obvious talent and deserves a run in the team.
Keogh is a trier but lacks ball control and needs too long to create a chance.
SEB is a proven goalscorer but would be even better given the service FE would provide.
    K. Kyle has potential but not as a route 1 target.
MM would be well advised to swallow his pride & do what the majority of fans at the Mol know makes sense, start FE & watch the results improve.
It may help if MM took a view from the stands occasionally instead of distracting the players with his constant gestures & verbals!
this league is wide open & even Wolves could still win it!

absolute disgrace trying to get rid of him! If he decides to sell freddy, it will be one of the biggest mistakes wolves would have made in years! I still think we should stick with Mick, but now I am beggining to wonder. Freddy is a gem of a player, a real class act and can win you games even if the whole team is playing crap; example - blackpool home - nobody played well apart from freddy who won us that game almost single handedly with his brace. good luck to the boys on sat away at charlton ;)

Keep the faith!! (I know it’s hard ;)

Thank GOD for jetlag. Arrived back in Sydney last night, couldn’t sleep so got up to watch the game at 4:30am Sydney time.

Nathan, you mentioned the 3-3 last weekend as the game of the campaign, I think this game topped it!

The way the lads didn’t let their heads drop after Charlton equalised so late showed a lot of character and determination.

Weighing into the Freddy debate, if it aint broken don’t fix it. Keogh and SEB are producing goals and look like a good partnership right now. Use Freddy as a dynamic bench player when needed.

Good performance on saturay i thought SEB was exellent and is showing signs of becoming a really good striker for us with his power and direct style. Thought Javis caused problems too and cant wait to see kites line up on the right with jarvis on the left. Although i am a freddy fan i think it would be wrong to break up the SEB and Keogh partnership. Still think the central defence is an issue i dont think Collins is quite good enough and looks very shaky and clumsy as times. Craddock couldnt handle Iwlewumo although he is a handle for any center half at this level. Foley is still out of sorts to as he gave the ball away and got beat a little to often. Enough of the negatives and lets bulid on the positive performance on saturay and follow it up with a win and a good performance at Bristol in 2 weeks time. P.S well done karl Henry on beating the boo boys and showing us how much this club means to you by putting in a good performance and busting a gut to to score the winner in the 94th minute!

  92. Dave said:

MM has made it difficult for himself by leaving Freddy out when the forwards weren’t scoring and he was trying all sorts of combinations that didn’t work. Form is one thing, quality is another and Freddy is quality. Keogh has done well to score a few goals and make several too, but he isn’t an out and out goal scorer. SEB is quality, no doubt about that and I just wish MM would play all three, one deeper than the other two.

I’ve not been one of the boo boys, but I can see their frustration. It looks like we will lose a very good player at the end of the season and with Jarvis, Kites, SEB and Freddy as a front line next season, I think we would cause teams problems in any division, but would be top scorers in this one.

It makes me laugh when i read on here the big Freddie debate. How on earth can any of you make a decision on whether he is good or bad, when he has not even been given a fair crack of the whip. Players who are much more lazy and inferior in skill and ability and without a proven goal scoring record have been selected in fron of him. Nathan to even mention Frankowski, Bothroyd, Proudlock and Taylor in the same breath as Eastwood is disgusting they are nowhere near as good as him nor have they scored anything like his stats. They were complete and utter failures, he most certainly was not and is not based on what he has and is achieving.

There are times my fellow wolves fans that I wonder whether or not you would know a gaol scorer let alone a footballer if they kicked you in the goolies. Come on be fair you cannot judge someone when they are only getting 10mins here 20 mins there.
