Albion midfielder Zoltan Gera is likely to stay at The Hawthorns next season if the Baggies win promotion, his English agent said today.
Sam Stapleton played down reported comments from Gera’s Hungarian representative that suggested he would walk away from Albion at the end of the season.
And he claimed Hungary’s national team captain is likely to agree a new deal if Tony Mowbray’s men seal a return to the top flight.
Stapleton said: “If Albion go up, which Zolly is in the form of his life trying to help happen, then the chances are if there is no top six Premier League side in for him he will stay.
“He has just had his little girl and he feels happy, settled and part of the club and if they go up I think he will stay there.
“If they don’t go up then Zolly will have to consider things because he wants to play in the Premier League and there are clubs abroad who are interested and who play in European competitions.”
At the weekend Hungarian agent Vladan Filipovic was reported to have told a Hungarian news agency that Gera would leave The Hawthorns regardless of the outcome of their promotion bid and FA Cup campaign.
But while he admitted that Filipovic is still part of the Gera camp, Stapleton said the comments he made in Gera’s homeland had been mis-translated for the English media.

Zoltan is one of the most hard working and adaptable players we have, so we don’t want to lose him. He can play left or right mid-field and also looks to score. He,apparently,plays as a striker for Hungary and, because he is intelligent and thinks, would be worth trying up front with Kevin Phillips.
I’m sorry to say, but Miller is too selfish and appears to be unsure what position to take up. Bednar is a better partner for Phillips. Perhaps, Miller would be better as a left back?

Sorry to be the bearer of “Bad News”,but I noticed it on the Sky Sprts site on Saturday:-
Zoltan Gera’s agent claims the midfielder will leave West Brom at the end of the season.
Gera’s current contract expires in the summer and he could leave The Hawthorns for nothing in the summer.
The winger’s future could depend on West Brom’s bid to win promotion with The Baggies having a better chance of keeping Gera if they return to the Premier League next season.
Gera, who came close to joining Middlesbrough in January 2007, is thought be a target for a host of Premier League clubs and Gera’s agent Vladan Filipovic believes the Hungarian international should be playing for a club competing in Europe.
“I wasn’t his agent that time [when Middlesbrough tried to sign him] so all I can say is that Zoltan surely leaves the team at the end of the season,” Filipovic told Nemzeti Sport.
“Some teams from the Premiership would like to sign him but we don’t adhere to England - there are interested sides from other countries as well.

Zoltans performances have been top class this season,he hasnt been winding down the clock.If he moves on good luck to him,we have had good service from him and lots of memories.Compare the value for Hartson who cost more in wages and transfer fee what was his contrubtion appart a goal against wolves .When we win promotion this season he wil sighn on the dotted line.

At the beginning of the season you were crowing about our exodus. Next you told us how crap our
signings were while at the same time trying to tell us how good Freddy Eastwood was. Then it was how you were going to win the league. Then you disappeard and seemed to be having a bit of an internal argument about whether MM was a genius or an idiot. Now you’re back on again after a couple of wins.
Meanwhile, we’ve been playing great football all through the season, enjoyed our team trying to entertain and score goals, we’ll enjoy a semi final of the fa cup, and have a top 2 finish to aim for. We are lovin it.
Meanwhile, please would you focus on trying to get your team to scrape into yet another play off tournament.
