Wolves dark horses in race

Neil CollinsNeill Collins believes Wolves can take advantage of being dark horses in the Championship promotion race.

Despite a campaign riddled with inconsistency the Molineux men have moved to within a point of the top six thanks to Tuesday’s 2-1 win over relegation-haunted Scunthorpe.

Wolves have been off the play-off radar since November because of their stuttering form but, after their recent revival, Collins believes they are arriving right on time.

“We’re kind of glad that people haven’t been talking about us too much for the play-offs,” he said.

“The likes of Stoke and Bristol City are getting all the credit for the season that they’ve had. Hopefully we can come up on the outside.

“A lot of teams have been getting credit for what they’ve done so far this season and we haven’t because of where we finished last year.

“I’m not saying we deserve any credit, but  we’ve got high expectations and it’s nice to be creeping up on the rails.”

And Collins reckons there is enough belief in the Wolves dressing room to sustain a promotion challenge.

“A lot of stuff gets said but it’s people in the changing room who need belief and we’ve got plenty of belief,” he added.

“It’s not the fans that are going to score goals or block shots – it’s us.

“Whether the fans believe we can do it or not doesn’t affect us too much, we believe it as players and the manager believes it.

“If we do what we are good at when we go out on the park there’s no use blaming anyone but ourselves.”

l Dave Jones is hoping for a reunion with his former Wolves striker Henri Camara at Cardiff.

The Wigan forward has been on loan at West Ham but not playing and Cardiff boss Jones is hoping to push through a deal for him to play in the FA Cup semi-final against Barnsley.

I’m sure Camara would be delighted to join Cardiff’s quest for FA Cup glory, but no doubt he’ll be off as soon as they get knocked out. Still in the running for that coveted African Footballer of the Year gong, Henri?

Just a comment on the last message on the above. Does DJ really think that the high and mighty (I am the best player in the world) Henri Camara will play Championship football. I don’t think Camara will move to Cardiff as he is still under the impression that Man Utd / Arsenal / Chelsea or Liverpool will come knocking as how could anyone resist signing such a player. Well it appears Steve Bruce and Alan Curbishly aren’t too keen.

Let him rot in the West Ham / Wigan reserves.

Let’s see him play down the Molineux with Cardiff in April.

Football supporters have longer memories than you think Camara.

Wigan/West Ham should do what we never had the guts to do: let him rot

Odious little twerp that Camara - Almost on a par with Cashley Cole. If debt riddled Cardiff can afford him, they seem like a dream team in Hatred terms. Maybe he should get together with Heather Mills?

Perhaps we should have done what we did in the 60’s when we lost Hugh McClmoyle (anyone remember him?). We converted centreback Dave Woodfield to centreforward, with great success. He scored and made goals with his heading ability.
Maybe we should have gone for a centreback instead of Kyle and converted Collins to impact striker.
Can’t be bothered doing the research; anyone know if Collins is breaking even yet in his points gained/lost ratio?

Can’t believe that DJ would even consider signing the guy after the way he carried on - however, if he does then he is guaranteed a good reception at the Mol on the 22nd. Scum sinks, cream rises - and SEB is already twice the striker Camara will ever be IMO.

    Camara, Fowler & Floyd-Hasselbank?
    What next,bids for Thiery Henri,Zidane & Cantona?

Has-beens and never-beens. That sums up Dave Jones’ teams.

As for Wolves, we could just sneak in but that’s a poor reflection of this dross division.

8 - I certainly remember Hughie Mclmoyle - being going down the Wolves too long! Didn’t we sell Woodfield in the end to Watford, and he broke his leg on his debut and never played again? Anyway this season, well what can I say, perenial pessimist I am, but we will gain revenge for blowing promotion when the A****N went up!

collins has never been a footballer and should seriously consider a career in labouring on a buildig site or somthing he may be ok at because he cannot play football to save his life !.

H.C. DOES NOT DESERVE SUPPORT, HE WAS AND MAY STILL BE A POOR AMBASADOR FOR THE GAME, LET HIM READ UP A LITTLE ON STEVE BULL AND HE WILL SEE WHAT FANS WANT, ONE MAJOR FACTOR IS LOYALTY.

If we make the play offs which is highly unlikely Muppet Mick will say its been a successful season and will probably be rewarded with a pay rise and an extended contract, and none of us realy want that do they…..???????????????????????????????

We’re only dark horses thanks to defending such as yours in important games, practicing your golf swing in the penalty box. How many penalties is it you’ve given away this season Neill? Your a good centre half, just not good enough for this team, sorry.

No 8 - I totally agree. I said ages ago that we should play Collins up front.
No 7 - Exactly what I thought before I got to your post. You’re absolutely right. How cheesed off would the Cardiff player who didn’t get a game because of Camara be?

DJ if you do sign him lets hope you can get him to turn up for training this time.Cant believe you were manager of this complete waste of space, you would want to sign him again. He has only come in for your Wembley trip once you lose that he will fail to show up for training and insist on a transfer to MK Dons who i believe are playing at Wembley a few weeks later.

16 and 18, let’s hope we don’t make the play-offs. Where would you put your negativity then. I bet you just sit at home hoping and praying we lose on Saturday. Get a life.

22: What are you on about, I don’t want us to lose at all, I just don’t think he’s a good enough player for this team!!!
