Out-of-favour Wolves striker Jay Bothroyd today joined Championship rivals Stoke on a month’s loan.
Bothroyd – without a Wolves start since the FA Cup disaster at Cardiff – has been allowed to leave after boss Mick McCarthy told him other strikers are ahead of him in the pecking order.
He joined promotion chasing Stoke today and goes straight into their squad for the top of the table clash with Watford after being told he would not be figuring for Wolves at Burnley.
Bothroyd’s departure is the first of an expected exodus of forwards from the striker-laden squad, but McCarthy refused to be drawn on his long-term future.
“Jay hasn’t been involved here and I told him that if he wants to play regular football he’d have to go out on loan.
“At the moment there are people in front of him in the pecking order,” he said.
“(Stoke boss) Tony Pulis was looking for someone because I think Mamady Sidibe has a hamstring and Jay wants football.
“We haven’t talked about anything permanent at the moment – it’s a month’s loan.”
With Stoke stretching ahead of Wolves in the race for automatic promotion from the Championship, McCarthy decided to sanction the loan because the Potters’ form will not affect their play-off hopes.
It is not the first time Bothroyd has been made available for transfer – he turned down a move to Hull earlier in the season in order to fight for his place.
But with no prospect of a first-team start in the near future, he has opted to leave the club he signed for in the summer of 2006.
“A few clubs from League One came in for him but he didn’t want to go to that level,” McCarthy said.
“There were one or two inquiries from the Championship as well but Stoke came in for him and they’re not in competition with us so I let him go there.”
Stephen Elliott iss a doubt for tomorrow’s trip to Burnley after twisting his ankle. Matt Jarvis has been laid low by the sickness bug sweeping Molineux.

good bye good riddance…….who neext Eastwood?
Memo to Tony Puliss:
Can we have him back when you’ve turned him into a lean, mean goal scoring machine?
Hell might freeze over & the price of Bacon soars as Pigs learn to Fly!
We were going to send him to New Cross hospital to have his gloves surgically removed!
You just don´t loan players to a rival club in a situation like this unless he´s told to score owngoals. Just another example that shows how poor this club is run.
On his day he is good but he doesnt have his day enough………..
At the moment after watching such crud performances this season I find myself not really caring or looking forward to the next few games. Im struggling today to phone up and get my early bird and ive had a season ticket for 10 years now. I am thinking of waiting until the Summer as im fed up of investing a Premiership sized amount of money and watching a second rate management staff mess it up. (and that includes Moxey too) Morgan, where are you?? Do you own the club or have an opinion??
WHAT ?
I am not saying Bothroyd should play as never know who will turn up but why give him to Stoke? Are they playing the right teams for us or has MM just got rid ???
Excellent - that should slow em down a bit….
Jay who?
Never heard of him…..
He has offically lost the plot now….
Why help out promotion rivals?!
Mick you are a IDIOT you do not loan players to clubs above you in the table. Questions must be ask of Mick and his management team.
I’m not renewing my season ticket for next season, the ticket I have held for the last 15 years not with Mick in charge, sorry I have had it.
Makes sense to me. Stoke are 11 points clear of us and we have no realistic chance of catching them up.
IF (and that’s a big if!) we are still in the playoff hunt, then maybe he scores a winner against Palace for them to help us (on the basis that Bristol City and Watford - the only other sides in the top half Stoke have left to play - are also uncatchable).
good ridannce, just kyle elliot and ward to go, then start off loading more deadwood from the midfield and defence.
AND THEN THE MUPPET!!!!!!
Maybe MM is trying to repeat history. JB will play three games for Stoke - score 10 goals in those games and Mick will suddenly recall him - he will then go on to be your best player.
Well it worked with Craddock….
Makes some sense and if scores a few goals to keep the boggies out of an automatic position even better.
Stoke unfortunatly are no rivals for us this year.
Looks like he will be the first out of the club come the end of the season.
This has to be the most bizarre season in my living memory!
I can’t understand it, why would the club want to send our most talented youngsters and some of our better players out on loan?
The best strikers at the club are; SEB, Bothroyd, Keogh and Eastwood. Why not sent Elliot or Ward, or for that matter anybody at all too one of our main rivals!
This is absolutely ridiculous, they’ve gone stark raving mad!
Perhaps they have given up on the season?
We tried to get em to take Hartson - but Bothroyd should do just as well….
Thanks guys !!
Bothroyd is a finisher,DISCREASE you can shove your early bird up your a**e
Re 8 - do you seriously, honestly consider us to be ‘promotion rivals’ to Stoke? If so, you need to wake up and smell the caw-fee mate, we are nowhere near Stoke and thus they cannot be considered our rivals. If we had loaned Bothroyd out to Ipswich, Hull, Plymouth or Burnley then I would be concerned, but as it stands him going to Stoke is entirely irrelevant. I’m no fan of MM but it seems you are now just having a pop at him for the sake of it, which is pretty sad in my book…
Who Cares really. He’s a waste of money. Hope they are paying a chunk of his wages.
We are no way going to make the playoffs. Its Hoddle Mark 2.
Steve, sack him at the end of the season and get your own people in.
I know people will probably be glad he is gone, but I for one will be sorry… he is a creative player and we are very very short of them!, I agree that he can be lazy, so I think he should have been used off the bench too make an impact…
There are other forwards at the club who should have been sent out on loan ahead of him… but I guess no one else would have them…
Bet he gets a bag full of goals at stoke…
Good luck to him… is this the start of the players getting out because they can’t get on with MM?
He’s only 25?? christ seems he’s been around longer than gods dog!! and he’s had more clubs than tiger!!! must have been 12 when at arsenal!!
Mick, although bothroyd is a lazy overpaid pre-madonna why have you given him the chance to go and prove himself at one of our so called promotion rivals?! you have really ost the plot you stupid northern monkey. If ultimatley he goes and scores 3-4 goals in a month and help Stoke secure a playoff place or automatic plavce then you will certainly have egg on your face again
Personally im glad Bothroyd has gone and fingers crossed he never returns but to loan a forward to on e of your rivals is beyond stupidity
You have lost the plot Mick, thanks for last season but its time too go and get some fresh ideas into the team instead of buying half of sunderlands promotion and relegation team from a few years ago.
TARA
18 - You do not help out teams that are after the same thing as ourselves… which ultimately is promotion. Get a grip mate.
Wolves onwards and upwards - WITHOUT McCARTHY!
Another astonishing decision ?
All I can assume is that Jay is a bad influence in the dressing room and that he has
dragged our season down since Christmas ?
Well makes a change from the ref, crowd etc
Dear o deary me!Lend him to a championship struggler yes but a main rival?Where is the sense in that? You can guarantee he will pull out all the stops to prove a point. On his day,he can be real quality and definately has it in his locker.
With Boothroyd going on loan and edwards out i feel that freddy should get a chance at Turf Moor pl
So i think MM should play a 4-3-1-2
Midfield would be Jarvis Elliot and Potter/Olly
Keogh as free roll
with SEB AND EASTWOOD UP FRONT
I don’t know how he got my number, but I’ve just had Mick on the phone.
He wants to know if I can play tomorrow!
18. Greg Cooper
I have to say you are pretty naive in your comments, while I agree it is difficult for us to catch Stoke, they are still going to be playing teams that will have a bearing on our season. So, sending them a player that will improve their team is a serious blunder!
What a bizarre decision.
Why loan a Player out to a promotion rival, Yes bottom of table club, but not top six.
We have become the official laughing stock club of the division now.
What else have we got to endure this season.
McCarthy Out, Moxey Out, Morgan Out(or is he already out watching Liverpool training or something).
20. deeps
I agree, he is a creative player and with Kightly out we have a serious lack of quality in that department.
This is real stupidity!
This makes no sense, we shouldn’t be helping out any team who are in the top half! Whether or not people like or dislike Bothroyd, he still shouldn’t be sent out on loan to a team that could take one of our play off positions! MM obviously thinks we can get in the play off without him, so if we do then that’s great. However, if we don’t then he should go, as nearly all of his decisions this season have made no sense, and it’s done nothing but anger supporters. I have never known such a stubborn manager. If he was getting results then we couldn’t argue but our results this year have been relegation form, yet still our best players are either on the bench or out on loan! Keep up the good work Mick, if results continue like this, then you’ll be out next season, so you’re doing us a favour! Maybe you should try sending, Potter, Elliott, Kyle and S Ward out on loan, that would make us a better team!
Is this Deja Vu with Bothroyd instead of Craddock?! In a way I think MM is staking his reputation a little bit on on this. He’s already admitted the mistake loaning Craddock. If Bothroyd does the business (and I believe he is our most talented striker on his day)it’s not going to reflect too well on him. It will be interesting, though, as my mind is not made up on why Bothroyd hasn’t been so good this season. Is the blame at his own feet or is it the changes in style of play/tactics/formations and other factors such as being picked on by MM in the media etc.
good i hope he never comes back, he’s over wieght, he cant shoot, he’s got no movement.
we should have let stoke just have him on a free transfer to get him off the wagge bill
bye jay, dont come back
Is it time to have McCarthy sectioned under the Mental Health Act?
McCarthy cannot believe that we still have chance of making the playoffs. Bothroyd could score the goal that takes Stoke up instead of us.
Either McCarty has totally lost it, or he is telling fibbers when he says we still have a chance of promotion.
Out of darkness etc.
Kent - I would stay well away mate - since Tony Daley joined its become more hazzardous than Midsummer at the Molly.
You don’t need a torn hamstring to go with your other ailments….
First of all, Stoke play the long ball dont they? I’m sure Bothroyd will love that! What a strange signing!
What I have really struggled with this season is the passion in football. It’s not just at wolves either. Im only 26 and I am starting to find hard to remember a time when football was all about passion, characters and about FOOTBALL. Nowadays, the papers carry headlines about money, refs, technology, blatter, sex scandals, tackles, bungs, ticket prices, crowd violence and diving. Even goal of the month on MOTD has been cut down to 6 o 7 goals so that spare time can be given to the pundits to moan about whether adebayor was tripped or blown over by the recent gales.
A lot of this is applicable to wolves. I have been given a cracking book about wolves called ‘Those were the days, wolves 1964 to 1977′. A lot of it were hard times following a huge amount of success. The stories are all about difficulty at molineux, hammerings and the occasional bit of joy. I AM SO JEALOUS OF THOSE DAYS! Full houses, people working all week to enjoy it, no saft crowd trouble, CHARACTERS, PASSION, FOOTBALL! NO MONEY OR PANSIES!
We have now found ourselves with a wolves envoiroment that is a real example of love/hate. We all love to say we love the wolves but I think a lot of people love to hate them at the same time, I hope that makes sense. We all love a good moan, its human nature and its a lot easier to moan about wolves when they are doing BELOW OUR EXPECTATIONS. But how are we meant to snap out of this mentality and get back to the way we were last season, cheering on the lads at 6-0 down at home against southampton? Its bloody difficult, i know, and its because of what i listed earlier that is written in the media and surrounds us everyday, coupled with our own human nature and the fact that we dont get enough sex from our missus’.
We may all feel cheated this season after being promised that youth would be given a try. Well, fact is, youth did get its chance last season and it didnt meet our expectations. We wolves fans want premiership football. Now. Mick obviously thought we had not got that extra bit that was needed with our youth players to meet our demands and has looked elsewhere. Problem is, he has made mistakes in his purchases. Now 90% of fans want him gone or question every decision he makes because it appears we are not where we were last season. Truth is, we are exactly where we were last season; the championship, and this league is so incredibley difficult, ask Ian holloway, bryan robson etc etc. Plus, if he had sticked with the littles, jones’, gleeson’s etc and chances are we would be in exactly the same position, we’d still be hammering Mick and probably those young undeveloped lads too! I know youth needs a chacne but this season wasnt the right season for them to do it at wolves. Look what fergie does with his kids. Play a little, loan out to lower, bring them into the team.
I could go on and on and keep listing all things that are circling in my head but I could be here all day and I am sure a lot of you feel the same. If anyone has any ideas other than sack the manager to bring the passion back to our football, please post it. I say anything other than sack the manager because we all know that that doesnt work.
perhaps that’s mcarthy’s master plan to get us into the play off’s. start loaning our players out to the teams above us, stuff up their promotion challenge so we can catch them.
that’s stoke taken care of, can’t see them scoring again this season. now we just need kyle shipped off to the albion, ward to hull and elliot to charlton, then our play off hopes will take a big boost.
Lay of McCarthy on this one. It doesn’t matter that
Bothroyd has gone to Stoke as we are clearly not going
to catch them in the league. Most wolves fans realise
Bothroyd is not good enough so let him go and drag
Stokes performances down. If he performs well then fair
play to him… then hopefully someone will take him off
our hands permanently in the summer! With Kyle returning
to Coventry as well then hopefully our main three best
forwards will get more regular games together (Eastwood,
Keogh, and E.B.Blake)
8,Mcnugget,PROMOTION RIVALS? lololol boing boing
Keep up the good work muppet. you are by far, the worst manager in the Football league.
Come on Burnley, give us a new gaffer for the weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!
Abdonwolf - the only team that Stoke play between now and the end of the season that are likely to effect our own placing is Crystal Palace (and if Bothroyd scores for Stoke against Palace to help them win then surely we will be happy - no?). If you seriously believe that Stoke are our rivals for promotion then it is you who is naive, my friend. As I said before, the only way loaning Bothroyd out would have a detrimental effect on Wolves is if it was to one of our rivals for a play-off spot - either that or he continues to play in our reserves, with the occasional 1st team appearance from the bench. Invariably this would result in him wandering round the pitch looking as disinterested as ever, with perhaps the odd boo from the South Bank for good measure. I want McCarthy out just as much as you do but let’s be honest - no matter what he does now, certain elements of our support will criticise him regardless of whether he makes a good or bad decision. It just seems a little bit childish to slate him for making a decision that ultimately will have very little bearing on how our season pans out…
33- are you sure that Bothroyd cant shoot…
I remember last season at leeds when he banged that shot into the top corner in the last minute and then three days later did the same against Ipswich at the Mol…
I think that if we lose three out of the next four McCarthy is gone…. PLEASE LOSE THREE OUT OF FOUR—- Fingers crossed…
Get Ince in or Steve Tilson feom Southend he looks a decent young manager… and he will play Fredrick!!!
Up the Wolves!
Not particularly linked to the story, but me and me mates have finally decided not to renew our early birds.
It will be the the first time in about 10 years I won’t be having a season ticket.
There are many reasons personally why I won’t be having one (a lot to do with the club at present) but I can’t for the life of me justify parting with £350 to watch this tripe again.
I just wondered if there are others like me who won’t be renewing until wholesale changes are made.
p.s. don’t respond to me with comments like “armchair fan, not a loyal supporter” etc. etc.
p.p.s. I think I’ll sit in the pub every Saturday and get p!$$ed!
Happy
You make me laugh you do son… That comment about Tony Daley was quality!
So from our attacking team at the end of last seson we have replaced Mcindoe/Bothroyd
with Elliott/Kyle.
No further comment required.
Saying that sacking managers doesn’t work is not correct. When you have signed the wrong manager, then you get rid of him before he can do anymore damage. That applies to all businesses, not just football.
The problem here is not sacking managers, it’s the inability of Moxey to pick and support the correct quality of manager.
Somehow, Moxey always comes out smelling of roses, but his track-record is one of serial-failure as far as Stoke and Wolves are concerned.
37) I like it a lot! You forget Breen, to Cardiff Ipswich? That’ll sort out their home prowess…
Normally you don`t loan players to a rival club, but,in this case its a shrewd move by MM.It`s just a pity MM`s other moves haven`t been so good. Why loan him anyway,we could give him away for what good he is and it looks like Stoke have given up on promotion.
My days of chasing a Bag of Wind are long gone…
How ironic, the Bag of Wind is now chasing me.
Now Jay’s gone, can I have his Cup final ticket allocation?
comment 42 - i was at that game!! my mistake
1 shot in about 2 years doesnt make u a good stiker. week after week he waddles round the pitch
looking disinterested when we have players of eastwoods quality on the bench.
he is dead wood and its time he moved on.
i think we will beat burnley tomorrow
come on wolves!!!! we can make the play offs!
PS
Bothroyd is a great player to have on the bench. Can sometimes be just the spark to turn a game on its head.
I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE LOST ELLIOT AND KYLE - Guess Stoke had no interest in em either… (who can blame em)
NEW MANAGER BY MONDAY AFTER A MAULING AT THE MOOR PLEASE MOXEY !
Greg Cooper you hit the nail right on the head. As everyone knwo Bothroyd can be good on his day but that day doesn’t come enough.
We don’t need him so why keep him. He is just one on a long list of players that need to be shipped out.
You are really are daft bunch.
Bothroyd has used all his goodwill to become the player that his talent would suggest. His attitude and effort are unacceptable and he has no future at Wolves.
If he helps Stoke, he will be hindering the Clubs fighting us for 6th place - our maximum possible position. If he fails for Stoke, they will still not fall below 5th place.
There is absolutely no conflict of interest. And we save Bothroyd’s wages.
Totally sensible.
Thats what I like to see, a little bit of neighbourly help.
Thanks for that, Boothroyd should manage to fluff a few of Stokes chances, hopefully they drop that Lawrence for him…if only!!!
8: PMSL promotion rivals……WHEN???????
rudderless ship comes to mind, with the right manager bothroyd could have been a top player in this league but mick is not that manager. time for mr morgan to step upto the plate and show what he,s made of
Some of you on here need to get checked out by a medical examiner. Stoke are not our rivals they are 15 points ahead of us, there is no way in hell we are going to catch them.
Our rivals are the teams around us Charlton, Palace, Plymouth, Burnley, Hull and Ipswich.
tony wba - worry about your own team
Promotion rivals lol.
Since when have we been promotion material?
Mid-Table, get it right boys.
it shocks me that some of you hate MM that much you actually wish us to loose
i dont like him but would never say i want them to loose to get rid of him
ive renewed why? i don’t no but i can’t help but support them..even though im watchin the biggest load of bull ive ever seen and most probs a waste of money
and on the bothroyd subject…im not really fussed his lazyness p***ed me right off week in week out
is anyone going to burnley tomorrow??
mugings here is
49…Kent Wolf..
If I get a spare one you can gladly have one
Regards
Baggie Boy

Interesting post I especially like the bit about adebayor!
Not so sure about your assessment of the youth policy. If we played so well last year using young players then why should this year been any worse? Surly they would be gaining experience in our team and we would be receiving the benefit of it!
Also, I don’t buy all the Man U. Ferguson analogy’s that lots of people on here use. They are literally in a different league to clubs like Wolves. Their young players are better before they start and their first team is populated with international superstars!
As for:
“anything other than sack the manager because we all know that that doesnt work.”
Do we all know that?
Sometimes it is wrong to sack the manager and sometimes it is right. It was right to sack Hoddle, it was wrong to sack Jones but we are always wiser with hindsight!
McCarthy has managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and deserves to be sacked. He has sent the team back 20 years in his short 18 months, but that is just my opinion, I would never presume that it is gospel!
Kyle in Boothroyd out? Baffled. Nothing against kyle, but at least Booth looks like a footballer & on his day, albeit rarely, he can turn a game. think of the tescos at home last season.
What is so strange about sending Bothroyd out on loan to Stoke? McCarthy has been making strange decisions all season long so why are you all so surprised?
Obviously Mad Mick and co have decided we are NOT going to make the play-offs - although this news will not be made public - and we will now go through the motions until the season ends. So go pay your money like good boys and girls, don’t complain about the football, get your ‘early-birds’ before they sell out and enjoy the rest of the season!
Uncle Jez needs the money so that he has enough to pay Mad Mick, Connor et al when they get the push, not forgetting himself of course, for CEO’s don’t get paid much you know!
Great, Wolves have loaned out the only player who has scored a winner against us in years before we play against them. 3 more points at the custard bowl coming up
Are you lot numpties…. of course they are promotion rivals. they sit in the top 3 and are gunning for promotion. We too are gunning promotion. Admittedly our chances are a lot slimmer but get a grip.
I think its a good decision. Bothroyd had gone flat. The move may wake him up and who knows he may nick a point or two off our rivals.
Lets face it, were not going to challenge Stoke for Automatic promotion so whats the harm?
Even the late greats Messers Shanks & Cloughie would struggle to make Jay play good footie consistently.
Bojangles Wolf:
Quality response from a quality poster.
Love him or hate him ( I’m assuming HB is male),Happy_baggie always tells it like it is.
Idiotic decision by MM again!
This guy has gotta go! he is clueless!
Why isnt Morgan doing anything about it?
If i invested £30m into a club, id expect some sort of return.
Good luck Jay! and sad to say but good luck Stoke, you are better than the Wolves!
Really dont get this one…I know J can be a painful player to watch…but MM invested a lot of time in hin in the first team this season…so why now just ship him out…if you look at the facts we are on 51 points…with two games in hand…we win those we are on 57 points and in the playoff places…surely the manager should keep the squad together…as in the run in you never know what may happen or who you may need! Unless the manager has now conceeded defeat in advance of us playing those games in hand…
MM OUT!
thank god
all honesty jay is best striker we got, he just lazy
but i think he best coming on as sub then starting and he can hit goals from distance and turn draws
into wins like leeds last year
strange move to loan to stoke, bet he does quite well
Greg Coopper
“It just seems a little bit childish to slate him for making a decision that ultimately will have very little bearing on how our season pans out…”
I slate him for loaning out a creative player that we could use right now, there could be many ramifications between now and the end of the season, including the play-offs!
This is just one more McCarthy decision that I can’t fathom, and just as you like to pontificate your opinion about your fellow childish fans, then so do I!
Mick McNugget - ‘gunning’ for promotion are we? Blimey, that’s blind optimism if ever I saw it. Stoke are battling for automatic promtion, we are struggling to squeeze into the last play-off spot. If anyone needs to get a grip on reality, it’s you mate. Besides, the loan is only for a month - please explain to me exactly how that will affect our chances of making the play-offs. I’m not understanding your logic…
Abdon wolf - Jay is useless, disinterested and lazy. You do the math…
well said 71!!!!
elliott kyle stephen ward are not as good as bothroyd nor do i think freddie is as good, MICK NEEDS T0 GO NOW! LAST STRAW!
72. Greg Cooper
Disinterested and lazy he may be but creative and talented he still is!
As for ‘math’
I come from a generation that isn’t quite as influenced by our friends over the Atlantic so I still call it maths!
This is the last post to you as I find you exceedingly irritating, have you actually got anything to say other than ripping into everybody’s posts?
Stoke want Boothroyd not S Ward or Elliot both forwards higher up in the Wolves pecking order I would trust Pulis on this one another manager totally out performing McCarthy at this level
Cant believe some of the comments on here.
What exactly are we going to miss without JB?? Sorry but the guy has been useless. I wont miss him.
15 - If you were a manager would you employ Elliot and Ward ?
I rate JB, i think we should play him on the right and Jarvis on the right.
Why doesnt he loan out Elliot and give back Kyle. At least Bothroyd could get a goal out of nothing.
78. LincsWolf
No!
Well, might if I was in division 1 or 2!
To be fair, I think Elliot is probably a lot better than he looks at present. In the right team with the right formation he would probably score a few. But using him like this is hopeless!
60 Baggie Boy:
Though it would be nice to see the team I supported as a boy playing at the New Wembley, there are definately more deserving people than myself.
However,if no one were to object about me getting one…..
Abdon - at least my criticism is constructive. You just use whatever opportunity you can get to sound off about the manager, the chief executive, the owner etc etc. And I have had to put up with your irritating, negative posts for so long that now each time I see something new added by Abdonwolf, I usually try my best to skip reading it. Shame I gave you the benefit of the doubt on today’s ramblings, eh? Bothroyd is creative and talented, that is not in question here - however his attitude and aptitude are quite frankly an embarrassment. I’m sure you can see that… anyway, I’ve had enough of you too. Let’s never talk again! hahahahaha….
No too surprised, just the fact its to a rival team in the promotion push. Waste of talent, and it is pointless him being in the squad if he has no chance of getting a look-in! No commitment to Wolves!
AT LAST!!!! MM IS FINALLY STARTING TO COME BACK ROUND FROM HIS MAD MOMENT! BYE BYE BOTHROYD! HOPE YOU SCORE 50 GOALS AND THEY BUY YOU!
57: Andy
There is nothing to worry about, thats our problem
82. Greg Cooper
“Abdon - at least my criticism is constructive. You just use whatever opportunity you can get to sound off about the manager, the chief executive, the owner etc etc.”
Thats a bit rich coming from somebody that would rather we stayed in the championship!
the insanity of it all….Stoke!
They won’t buy him if they’re promoted…MM won’t play ANY of his out of favour strikers…coz they’re all out of favour as far as i can see……the manager has lost the plot. Bothroyd is and has been on a downward spiral and will next join league 1 Colchester…
Insane…where MM will be appointed the next manager..poor Jay!
Why are so many people baffled at this? We’re not gonna catch Stoke, they’re not promotion rivals and even if we somehow were to meet them in the playoffs he’d be back from his loan by then anyway!
He did nothing for us and probably wont make a huge impact at Stoke so where’s the harm?
82 Greg Cooper:
Take a “Chill Pill”.
abdonwolf is just doing something we still have the right to do,expressing his opinion.
as for the sicknes bug sweeping molinuex…i can think of several.
1. sickening lack of goals.
2. sickening lack of commitment
3….. lack of professionalism
4……lack of fight
5……lack of management
6……lack of promotion
play eastwood
Re 86/89 - whatever folks, wind your necks in, I’m only expressing my opinions, same as Abdon wolf is. He thinks getting rid of Bothroyd is wrong, I think it is right.. anyway, enough of this b/s, I’m off for lunch!
90:
You missed one
Lack of support!!!!……BOOOOOOOOOOO
I have read several posts in the last month that quote Moxey as having appointed six managers in his time here.
Can any of you statistics fanatics confirm which managers were appointed by Moxey?
To all the McCarthy Out brigade. You are all assuming Ince will come back. What if he doesn’t? The chairman will almost certainly appoint a ‘name’. Now think of the ‘names’ that are out of work at the moment: McClaren, Robson, Lee (sammy not colin!), Allardyce, Dowie. Any of those fill you with excitement?
In Moxey’s time (to my knowledge) he has appointed Colin Lee, Dave Jones, Glenn Hoddle and Mick McCarthy (as well as John Ward and Stuart Gray (*2) as caretakers, but these cannot be taken into consideration). Which makes it 4 by my estimation… right, it really is time for lunch now!
HOW COME HE AINT GOOD ENOUGH FOR US IN 11TH PLACE BUT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR STOKE IN 2ND PLACE ?
tony wba - see thats where i think your wrong you have plenty to worry about.
if u aint winning at half time the whole ground boooos the team off.
you wont get automatic promotion because you cant defend
you willend up in the play offs again and like last season your
team wont have the bottle to finish the job.
good luck to u mate but i think youve got your
hopes to high
New book out soon it’s called - A discussion by wolves fans on the questionability of their manger, and his decisions. By Crash the car, Smash the window and Head the ball.
If you’re just going to post something embarrassing, just don’t post at all. We already know that the Steve Bull Stand is full of world class managers, anyone unlucky enough to have ever listened to the constant drivel that comes out of peoples mouths in that stand can testify to.
Rant over I expect to be called happy clapper by at least one brainiac, as again I’m going to state that sacking of this manager at this point in time would not be the right way to go
so the team in 2nd wants to loan a stricker from the team in 11th who cant score (apart from SEB) and the player cant get a place on the bench seems to me that mccarthy doesnt know what hes doing anymore, ive tried to back him for as long as possible but this is another decision that could be added to a long list of odd ones this season
i think bothroyd is lazy but hes 10 times the player kyle is i think he can still do a job for us i also think him and eastwood will be off in the summer if mccarthy is still manager there faces obviously dont fit for different reasons,
Andy
Well I leave you to worry about that, coz us baggies are not, if the season ends with no cup, no promotion, i can quite easily say that my season ticket has been well worth it this time around.
freddy isnt at the bottom of the pecking order afterall!!!! there is hope for our man yet! maybe mm will start to play him now and he will prove him wrong! just want him to play SEB and FE now with AK and KK(if he has to pick him!) on the bench
No 3. Stoke your rivals ??? you having a laf - try Scunthorpe !!
99. Newbridge Wolf
I’m trying to work out what you’re on about?
Just so I know, do you think that McCarthy is a good manager and should stay or are you saying you shouldn’t sack the manager because it’s a bad thing?
Also, you say…
“We already know that the Steve Bull Stand is full of world class managers, anyone unlucky enough to have ever listened to the constant drivel that comes out of peoples mouths in that stand can testify to.”
Is that the ‘Royal we’?
Wow, that has to go down in history as one of the most arrogant posts ever!
You should manage ‘Happy Clapper United’!
NUGGET!
When, not if, Bothroyd is successful at Stoke it will be yet another example of how Mick can’t motivate & man manage.
So do get Ricardo Fuller in return?
Simon
81 kent, thats true just about everybody
I rathaer had sent Stephen Ward to stoke than JB. But hey they are both crap!
MM OUT!
Should be Ward or Elliott not JB, but then again all 3 should be shipped out!
MM & MOXEY OUT!
tony wba - just out of curiosity how will it have been worth it? if you fail
again!
ive recently brought a house ive spent 350 on my season ticket theres a good chance we will do nothing this season so how is it money well spent.
its a results business!
95: I am not presuming anything personally, I just want a person in charge that has a clue about how to manage a team, the fans and most importantly has a clue about football.
TerryWalsallWolf - Let me spell this out for you. We have tried the hiring and firing of managers before, it has got us nowhere. Agreed performances and results have been very dissapointing but what Newbridge wolf is saying is that sacking the manager NOW is completely counter productive. We all share your frustrations but surely the time for criticism is after the season NOT during it, when the players need our support. Wolves would be a much stronger unit if we were all pulling in the same direction. SUPPORT the team. If you really feel the need to vent your angst then may i suggest you scream at the person nearest to you in the dole queue until the voices tell you to stop.
i believe micks time is up but there is no point sacking him now it wont change anything give him till
the end of the season then the club can review the situation then
Most talented player next yo michael kightly ,
really hope Jay goes and puts some good displays in for Stoke
and returns match fit , far to good to play in the wolves reserves .
Come on Jay prove the doubters wrong !!!!!!!
Andy
Whatever happens between now and the end of the season I cannot account for, what has happened prior to this has already paid for my season ticket, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed what I have seen and believe it’s money well spent, and irrelevant on whether we are Premiership or Championship I will renew my season ticket, and if thats for Championship football i will of course be dissapointed at first, but my love of watching West Brom will continue and for that I do not need to worry.
I just wish I was on the sort of money that Bothroyd pockets every week.
I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here, in agony, writing on a daily basis about a team I follow.I’d be in the nearest BUPA hospital, getting my aching body sorted out.
He is arrogant,lazy,over-paid & a waste of space. He has bucketsfull of talent, but refuses to, as Mick would say,PUT IN A SHIFT!
111. Stop.HammerTime
I don’t remember saying that we should sack anybody, I just asked a question. But thank you very much for spelling that out for me!
Hiring and firing has got us and plenty of clubs somewhere. For instance, we sacked Colin lee, and appointed Dave Jones, result was promotion. There, hows that for a positive example?
The thing that amazes me about ‘happy clappers’ like you is that because your argument is so weak you have to resort to personal attacks of the ‘dole queue’ variety!
Just for your information I am not frustrated at all and I suggest you read and understand my post properly before you embarrass yourself again!
good luck to you bud nice to see some passion no matter which team u support.
if west brom do manage to make it to the premier league i wish
them the best of luck
ill be at burnley tomorrow everyone thats going lets get behind them. save any negatives
for after the game
come on you wolves!!!!
andy… we cant defend? how come we have the best goal difference and concede hardly any away and home?
weve been beaten by the odd goal i recall you taking the lead in added time then going on to lose?
we cant defend…. riiiiiiiiiight?
you concede comical goals!!! if u do get to the
premier u will be a laughing stock just like u were last time.
your best off in the championship!! and thats where u will be next season!
so enjoy wearing your shirt it will be at the back off your wardrobe again come may!!!
hahahahahahahaha! boing boing baggies s***!
he did score the winner against the boggies last season but other than that thats about it,as hoppy boggie says it might slow stoke down,so now will dopey mm play eastwood don’t hold ya breathe, still up the wolves.
Regarding Mr Moxey.I think you would find that Colin Lee was manager when he arrived
That should stop them going up
104-calling someone a nugget-thats rich coming from one of the biggest idiots to ever post a message, one that can’t even spell his manager’s name correctly, one that is half a sandwich short of a picnic-you really do take the p.Moron.
strikers we have had over the last 15 years or so who are better than the shower we have now…
1. STEVE BULL
2. ANDY MUTCH
3. DAVID KELLY
4. DON GOODMAN
5. KENNY MILLER
6. FREDDIE EASTWOOD (remember him ?)
7. GUY WHITTINGHAM
8. ADAM PROUDLOCK (yes even him )
9. LEE MILLS
10.NATHAN BLAKE
11.ADE AKINBIYI
12.ROBBIE KEANE
Plus lots of other players capable of scoring more than 4 goals a season.
NOTICE TO MORGAN. Sort out this pathetic side,or i will not be wasting my hard earned cash until we have a proper manager, who can manage a team who we can be proud of again.
At the moment,i am too embarrased to admit who i support.
There is an accountancy problem here.
A team that are 2nd want to acquire a player from a team that are 11th that they consider he is not worth sitting on the bench.
The relative valuations of these two teams are totally out of relation.
Obviously, one of these two teams has got the valuation of the player totally wrong. Now, would that be the successful club who are 2nd, or the failing club who are 11th?
Answers on a postcard etc.
no great loss not good enough for wolves, but can’t see why we let him go to team above us in the league.
my next hope/wish would be several other players going the same way asap and my dream would be for mick to be shown the exit door at least by the season end. our season already over.
hope jay can find his scoring boots again in time for when we play sandwell again then he can do what he did last season
I really hope Jay gets a bagful of goals for all sorts of reasons. He was badly treated at the start of the season. I think he was top scorer in the pre-season matches before the Reading game I think, then he came on and scored against Reading (after Elliott had missed three one on one chances against the goalie in the first half), gets hauled off and told off for his celebrations and then has to listen to McCarthy prattle on about Keogh and Elliott being his preferred strikers (despite not scoring many) and being a different class. Not the best way to inspire someone who made major contributions last season (Leeds and WBA to name only two).
The seeds of the disaster that this season has become were sown right at the start. How different might it have been if we had beat Watford. We might have beat them if we had started the match with Eastwood (assuming he was fit - I can’t remember)and Bothroyd up front and then given them an extended run to forge a decent partnership. But no, we start with players who aren’t as good, aren’t playing as well and continue in a similar vein all year.
Bothroyd is one of the most skilful players we have. The stick he gets from the fans is out of all proportion to what he does wrong.
Good luck Jay. I for one will miss you.
Early Bird… Your Avin a Laff!!
Poor desicion!
Delighted to see this guy go and I hope he doesn’t come back. We have three good strikers - Ebanks Blake, Keogh and Eastwood and I would always like to see our team have two from these three in every match. If we got Kightly and Jarvis on the wings too then we would have the best attack in the division. But MM will prob stick to 4-5-1 with Kyle making an impact as a sub (not)
