Oh my goodness, now they are going to put an Orwellian style stealth tax on supermarket plastic bags! writes blogger Charlie Cashdan.
Is it not enough that I pay with my own time and petrol to take my own rubbish to the tip every week because we’ve lost the weekly rubbish collection?
Is it not enough that I have to pay a fortune for a private dentist because I can’t get an NHS one? (Current treatment costing £310)
Is it not enough that I pay horribly inflated prices for my monthly rail pass and then rarely get a seat on the dirty over-crowded cattle truck that is my daily train?
Council tax? Fuel bills? Petrol? Don’t get me started. Thank heavens I don’t drink or smoke! What next? The air we breathe…
How nice of the chancellor to give people over sixty an extra £50 a year towards their fuel bills?
Especially for people like my father who have a lovely big house that he paid £25,000 for years ago and is now worth £400,000 plus, has state and private pension, big brand new car, lots of savings and investments and now has another £50 off his utility bills.
Even he admits that it would be better to give him nothing and give the old lady on the council estate with nothing but state pension coming in and no savings an extra £100.
Isn’t it time we looked at means testing help for the elderly? Having worked many years in a posh local country pub and seeing the elderly come in every lunch time buying food and drink and pulling onto the car park in lovely shinny new cars and then going home to hear my mom talk about some of the poor old ladies she would visit in the village who couldn’t even afford to put the heating on, I have always wondered if we could do this better.
The nice chancellor has also decided to raise the child allowance to £20 a week from next year.
But will he ever look at helping families like us who have two children who live with their mom (who gets family tax credit and child allowance) but spend so much time with us too that we have to provide all the same things they have at home with mom; Xbox 360, Sky TV in their bedroom, beds, wardrobes, chest of draws, clothes, food, activities, books, internet, as well as paying mom maintenance, money for school shoes, bus fares etc, all without any of the government assistance conventional families get?
When will a chancellor ever be brave enough to truly address the issues of this country regardless of whether it’s a vote winner or not? And surely they have run out of things to tax by now!

Well do MP’s really give two sh*** about this country or they’re individual joy-rides. Its time to publish all the MPs expense claims me thinks.
Labour are Communists not Socialists. Until people realise they are out to turn the country into one level and be dependent upon them, the Government Britain will continue to slip into the myre.
It is up to the Joe Public to get out there, clean up the councils that waste money, have no idea what they are doing and who are being run by leftwing stalwarts with no knowledge of life. It is up to Joe Public to clean up Parliament and boot out these ignorant, cheaters and fraudsters out of office.
It is up to Joe Public to stand up and be counted, and stop thinking of ’self, self, self’ and see what Britain is coming to - a communist state run by an unelected man who hates the English, and wants to destroy the Country.
Joe Public, your Country needs you!
