Walsall manager Richard Money isn’t holding out much hope that their appeal over Richard Taundry’s dismissal will be successful.
Taundry was sent off in the 89th minute of the 2-1 home defeat to Brighton on Tuesday, after the referee decided that the midfielder had struck the Seagulls’ Adam El-Abd in the face and he is looking at a three-match ban if the red card is upheld.
“The appeal was in at 9am yesterday,” Money said.
“It would have gone in at 10.30 on Tuesday night if I could have got it in at that time.
“I don’t think he’ll get off, because they protect one another, but there’s no way on God’s earth that’s a red card.
“The referee has said that Taundry slapped him in the face, but he didn’t.
“The Brighton player fell on the floor and immediately grabbed his face. Richard didn’t touch him or stamp on him and when Westlake confronted him, he just got himself out of the way.
“If it’s upheld and he gets a three match ban, we’ll be very disappointed.”
The appeal will be heard today by a Football Association disciplinary panel and if the red card is not overturned, Taundry will miss the games against Forest, Leeds and Crewe.

Sorry I keep saying it but…..
‘I don’t think he’ll get off, because they protect one another’
If this is a spot on quote, he is pratically asking the FA to ignore his reqest.
Fantastic manager - Rubbish Speaker Im Afraid, would this put a top club off him?
1. What?
Money is simply trying to brace the fans and the club not to get their hopes up as most Appeals are thrown out because the FA look after the refs.
And as for top clubs, what the hell has his one line comment got anything to do with a top club employing Richard Money. Your talking out of your backside Mr Happy !!
Well said Hawkins, couldn’t have put it better myself.
I just wish everyone would leave DD alone, get off his back and let him get on with his job. Okay, so he moans a bit, –so what– just take a look back at the last 12 or 18 months or so and judge him on that…… Seems to have gone a bit quiet…..If anyone had have offered us a top 8 finish this season, we’d have grabbed it with both hands and who knows, it might finish even better than that.
Beaky, How can we let him get on with his job when his job seem to be have a go a the fans, the same fans that sit in the rain on cold winter night week after week. Get real, the money we spend on going to a game could be used else where, BUT NO we choice to go out to the Banks and see our team play (like a bunch of donkeys lately) week in week out. Too right we are going to have a go at DD and I’m in at the front of the line.
Peter.. Okay some valid comments and yes I agree with you as regards the cold wet winter nights when they dish up the rubbish we’ve seen at home the past few weeks. Two home games in a week is costly on anybodies pocket, not too bad if they play well and win, but they are not doing that, and in truth I don’t agree with DD slagging the fans off. I really do wish he would change his tack on that one because he is certainly rubbing people up the wrong way.It doesn’t help people like me who are trying to support him but I don’t think all the blame should be laid at his door, Bonser has got a lot to answer for, even people like me are getting sick and tired of all these short term loan deals. I don’t call that investment. DD can only work with what he is given. I just think that he has been the best since Sir Ray. If he goes, who are we going to get to replace him?
