Carbon monoxide – know the risks

excessive-condensation.jpg

Signs of a carbon monoxide leak: Fortunately, there are several ways to spot the early signs of a leak and minimise the risk to your household. Check your gas appliances regularly so that you’re able to recognise any unusual changes or signs of leakage, including:

  • Excessive condensation in the room where the appliance is installed
  • Unusual staining or sooting around your appliance
  • The blue flame on a pilot light turning to a lazy orange flame

Never block ventilation to your fuel-burning appliances, as this can also lead to CO poisoning.

If you think there may be a leak, stop using the appliance immediately. Ventilate the area by opening all the windows then leave the room and seek medical attention. Don’t use the appliance again until it has been checked by a CORGI registered intsaller.

Northern Gas are currently offering a FREE CO detector to expressandstar.com users - click here to get your free disc, or find out more about Northern Gas and their range of installation services.
