Dust off your old bridesmaid dresses girls, it’s time to get them on again – but this time it’s not to celebrate a wedding, it’s to mark a special screening of a new must-see romantic comedy.
Merry Hill’s Odeon cinema is hosting the Midlands preview screening of the movie ‘27 Dresses’ next week and wants women across the region to turn up in their fancy frocks in honour of the film’s subject matter.
Janine Corfield, 23, who works at the Brierley Hill shopping centre, is one of a number of staff who has agreed to wear her favourite bridesmaid’s outfit for a second time – when she attends the screening on March 20.
She extends the invitation to fellow bridesmaids across the Black Country who fancy a free night out and are game for a laugh and willing to wear their bridesmaid dress once again.
The film 27 Dresses, which stars Katherine Heigl and James Marsden, tells the story of nice girl Jane, who has walked down the aisle no less than 27 times and is a textbook example of ‘always the bridesmaid, never the bride’.
Kelly Reed, marketing manager at Merry Hill said: “As we were lucky enough to be selected to host the Midlands gala preview of the film, we decided to really get into the spirit of things and are giving away 100 free pairs of tickets and encouraging every woman who comes along on the night to wear her bridesmaid’s dress.
“Whether it’s a hideous pink monstrosity or a demure evening gown, we want to see it!”
The gala screening of 27 Dresses will take place at the Odeon, Merry Hill, at 8pm on March 20 and a limited number of tickets are available.

The event marks the start of Merry Hill’s spring fashion programme, which includes a whole host of style-related events and activities – including the centre’s fashion catwalk shows on March 29 and March 30.
Kelly added: “We’re celebrating all things fashionable at Merry Hill throughout March.
“Events planned include a special guest appearance by kids favourites Fifi & Bumble on March 27 through to two whole days dedicated to showcasing the best of the season’s fashions. One lucky shopper will even win a trip to the home of fashion, Paris,” she added.
