Finally we’re all heading back to Villa Park after what feels like an eternity since our last home game, writes Villa blogger Gregg Williams.
The pressure is on to get maximum points, but we must beware a Boro backlash after their dismal defeat to Cardiff at the weekend.
Middlesbrough have an annoying habit of getting a point at Villa Park, which is surprising considering how we have dominated our games at the Riverside.
Gareth Southgate will be hoping that his captain wins the toss, because you can guarantee that will mean they swop ends and force us to kick towards the Holte End in the first half.
That always seems to unsettle us, although having Villa fans behind both goals this season should really reduce this rather annoying effect.
I guess you can’t blame Gareth for using the tactic, which he will remember from his time as our own captain.
If it happens again we’ll have to try and make him regret it this time.
We really need to win this game, which goes without saying really.
The cup upsets at the weekend have left us needing to finish fifth to qualify for the UEFA Cup, which looks a tough task.
Draws aren’t good enough now, and I’m sure Martin will have the lads up for it so we’ll need to do our best to get behind them too.
I have to mention the campaign to get as many Villa fans to watch the Youth Cup semi final against Chelsea as possible.
The game is on Wednesday the 19th of March at Villa Park, and promises to be a great night if we can get everybody down there.
We have some great young players coming through and Martin O’Neill will be there to watch them with us.
I’m sure it will be a great boost to them to see 10,000 Villa fans turn out and if Chelsea can manage 4000 for the first leg then i’m sure we can do better.
Admission is free so if you can make it then i’ll hope to see you there.
