FA Cup hero Ishmael Miller believes he will get even better – thanks to regular football as a front runner.
The 21-year-old has admitted he was frustrated at his exile to the left wing in Manchester City’s reserves before his summer move to The Hawthorns.
And the striker, who scored a hat-trick to book Albion’s place in the FA Cup semi-finals, reckons playing up front for the Baggies has given him a new lease of life.
“I’m playing up front regularly and last season I was playing a lot on the left wing,” said Miller, who joined on a permanent £900,000 deal in the January transfer window after his initial move to Albion on loan.
“I feel I am a better player up front and I am playing regularly there with top players.
“I think my game is getting better every week,” said Miller, who followed up his 21st birthday with his hat-trick expliots at the Memorial Ground on Sunday.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has called on Miller up maintain his quarter-final workrate and the muscular striker admitted there is still room for improvement.
“You can always improve in everything and I think the manager has got it right,” said Miller.
“As a player you can always improve your workrate and hopefully I can do that. If I do that I can score goals.
“It’s just nice to be scoring goals and it’s great to get to Wembley for the whole club, for the fans, the players and the players’ families. It’s a nice feeling.”
And Miller, who was mobbed by team-mates after his three goals against Bristol Rovers, his first hat-trick as a professional, believes the celebrations showed off Albion’s spirit at its best.
He said: “It just shows the team spirit we have at the club.
“Most of the times we score the whole team gets around and it shows we’ve got a good team spirit and we are fighting for each other.
“We never think before games that we are going to do it. We just do it naturally because we’ve got a good team spirit,” he added.

Its frightening how good this kid can be.
He needs to work hard and keep progressing, but with TM as his manager he will get every chance to become a top class footballer.

He has bags of talent, lets hope he doesn’t waste it. The majority of the time he looks tired and lazy. I would prefer him to chase down defenders and goalkeepers a bit more. If he worked as hard as Bednar he’d be unstoppable and probably double his goal ratio!

Miller looks clumsy at times but fantastic at others……
Phillips was always going to be as good as he has always been and still is your best striker. I always thought how much id love to see him in a Wolves shirt, obviously never going to happen.
I wouldnt say I was jealous of Albion id say I was jealous of all teams in the top half of our table as we are the only ones there that produce such poor displays of passing and defending especially at home. SEB seems to be able to finish but what goods that when you have the likes of Collins and Ward at the back………I

One thing he could improve on is that if he makes a mistake he sometimes puts his head down or turns his back on the play. This is done out of frustration but a couple of times we’ve won the ball back and he’s not in position to take advantage. Minor things like this will come with time and then only he can limit how good he’ll become.

Some good finishes from Miller, but still it was against Bristol Rovers and you outclassed them.
If you got to the premiership would be interesting to see if all your strikers can score a decent
amount.

I think its just the case of his age in terms of his clumsy play, hell even Rooney has his off moments so I’m really looking forward to seeing how he turns out should we get promoted.

if you think about it ,west brom have got a brilliant miffield and attack and if we could sort out our defence then we will be a fantastic side,also i think ishmael miller will be worth ten times the price he is now.DO NOT WORRY , if you think ishmael miller is lazt because look at rivaldo , when he was young ,he was so lazy but then he turned out better after a couple of years in top division…up the baggies !
