Wolves united after bust-up

kightlyceleb2.jpgMichael Kightly today insisted the Wolves dressing room is still united in the wake of the bust up between the club’s manager and skipper.

The furious exchange between Mick McCarthy and Gary Breen after Tuesday’s desperate 2-2 draw with Southampton has highlighted the rising tension as Wolves’ season reaches crunch point.

It prompted concern morale in the camp is waning but Kightly, who revealed today that he hopes to play again this season, says spirits are still high.

The England under-21 man joined fellow Wolves players for a team bonding golf day yesterday.

And he insists morale is still good and says the spat has already been forgotten as the team looks towards a crucial run of fixtures.

“We really shouldn’t read too much into the gaffer and the captain having cross words.

“This kind of thing happens all the time – it has happened at every club I’ve ever been at,” he said.

“We conceded a goal in the 94th minute and the captain and manager were both frustrated.

“That kind of thing happens, it doesn’t mean morale is low or that we’re all at each others throats.

“All the lads out there on Tuesday were bitterly disappointed not to get the three points and that is all there is to it really.

“There is no problem with anyone in the dressing room.”

Breen and McCarthy are two of the most influential figures in the club and their passionate response to the equaliser was no surprise to Kightly.

“Breeny is hugely respected and so is the gaffer,” he said.

“They are two big characters who are passionate about their work and desperate to succeed.”

Meanwhile, Kightly has revealed his bone shaving operation went so well it has raised his hopes of playing again this season.

He has already thrown away his crutches and will start rehab on Monday, just nine days after the original operation.

“I think there is a good chance I will be available to play again before the end of the season if things continue at this pace,” he said.

“If we get into the play-offs I’m now 110 per cent sure that I’ll be fit and available for selection.”

Please Kites, ignore the physio and Daley. Don’t rush back and then bugger up your summer and the start of next season. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.
As for the ringing endorsement of team morale, was that written by the press department with your name added at the end?

Of course Moxey put this out under Kites name, because he knows that he Kites the fans respect and we won’t rubbish him.

So having established that Kites did not write this, we can feel free to continue debating the crisis at the club.

Footballers really do have the life of riley, I mean a bonding day of golf, where elese would you get that for a days work, especially when you’ve not been performing. A big boot up the backside might work a little better rather than massaging their already over inflated egos.

I will probably be “shot down and told to stick to my own sites” but I really do think that Kightly once fit will be purchased by one of the premiership clubs (unless of course the dark side come up late on rails so to speak)during the next transfer merry go round. Which would be a shame as I think young players need to lrearn their trade at (dont take this the wrong way) smaller clubs unless of course you are ronaldo and with all respect for the lad he aint no ronaldo but he is a very bright talent.

Credit to him so far he seems to have coped with the step up in class very well

You can always tell the signs of a good player when he gets boo’d by the opposing fans and he got boo’d at our place so that says something

    Good luck with his rehabilitation

    WOLVES UNITED ?

I play for Wolves casuals if that helps lol
Mad Mick is destroying our young prospects one by one, we have had a wealth of talent come through theb
    ranks KEANO,MURRAY,LESCOTT

Last year we had a gr8 spirit with a few old heads helping through some very talented youngsters :)

Ask ourselves would we be even worrying about not making the play offs if MIck had been playing the likes of lLITTLE JONES DAVIES blended in with our established youngsters KIGHTLY, KEOGH, EASTWOOD and the odd
    experienced campaigner

I would much rather of had the off indiffernt result and shown progress than struggle, show no ambition
and settle for an “OK” season

Bout time we SHipped out the big time Charlies n pushed this club forward using our resouces and adding to them wisely with ppl of Premiership caliber

Can anyone name more than 5 of the current squad who can cut it in the Prem ??????

MY OPINION On who is premiership class

    1. Hennesey
    2. Olifinjana if he ever discovers that he is physically superior to anyone on the pitch n starts 2
Boss the midfield and drive wolves forward
    3. Jarvis could do a job from the bench in the prem
    4. Kightly (could get in anyone team acept for the big 4 and possible blackburn)
    5. Our best prospect DAVIES has teh ability to change games but needs regular football and to stay fit

  28. moxeysthreechins said:

First he’s fit, then he isn’t…. then he’s fit and then he isn’t and so it goes on and on and on! just typical of a third rate club aspiring to nothing and run at the top by morons. Even the medical staff can’t get it right! Who do they think they are all kidding? We are the laughing stock of the Championship - yet again.

  29. Big Wolf said:

Kight’s Dont Rush Back We Need You Next Season To get Into The Prem !! I Can Only Name 10 Players That Could Do It In The Prem And That Is EASTWOOD … IF HE WOULD PLAY HIM , KIGHTLEY , KEOGH , HENNESSEY , EBANKS-BLAKE , D.EDWARDS , FOLEY , BOTHROYD , JARVIS AND THE BEST ONE OF THEM ALL IS DAVIES !! GET HIM IN THE TEAM WHEN HE IS FIT YOU PRAT AND DONT LOAN HIM OUT LIKE YOU HAVE DONE WITH MOST OF THE REST !! AND IF YOU SELL EASTWOOD,LITTLE,OR JONES THE WOLVES FANS WILL GO MAD !! MICK OUT !!

  32. Mayo Wolf said:

The fact is that we are capable of going up without Kightly. He’s a class act but I’m confident that Elliott can do a decent enough job on the right hand side, if not, Gobern is on his way back. We’ve stil got a decent clean sheet record and now have a predator up front. I think we just need someone to take charge of the midfield, hopefully Olafinjana will come back revitalised and I still think Gibson could be great for us if he can get a run in the middle. He completed 90 mins for the reserves the other day. Also, will all the WIMPS stop talking about a “crisis”, our manager and captain had a bit of a bust-up, so what!? They’re grown men, these things happen. Whatever happened to the “tough, black country spirit”?

  33. Golden Blood said:

Eastwood is rubbish. He has not scored since August, Kyle has a better goals to games ration than him. How is Eastwood class.

McCarthy has got Eastwood bang on. Lazy and has no impact. Ebanks Blake all the way. then Keough, Bothroyd, Kyle, Eastwood adn Ward.

Mark Davies is one of my friends n he will be back soon froma shoulder injury, rumour has it he is going 2 MK Dons 2 get some games under his belt

We have good players i just dont think they av faith in MICK and it shows week in week out,

A new manager needed fast but 2 b honest i dont see anyone out thr as a long term solution. Any suggestions?

Hats off to all you early bird purchasers!
Obviously more money than sense. It’s getting to
that stage again when we all say ” there’s always
next season!” Mr Morgan, Moxey and McCarthy should
visit a few pubs after each match and listen to what
the real fans have to say but the truth always hurts!!!

  37. west ham united said:

baggie, don’t be so sure. apart from millwall, cardiff and possibly leeds the molineux is a fearsome venue. i’ve seen it from both sides, and the wolves fans command a lot of respect. i went to your ground once with the hammers, after about half an hour we realised, the albion fans wern’t the ones in police uniforms. it was the few people standing behind them.

  38. dontlooktillmaywolf said:

    Fantastic!

I think the only thing we could all agree on is the colour of our shirts!

As far as premier class, some of you need a massive reality check!

Eastwood, Foley, Edwards, Blake, Bothroyd and Jarvis!

Come on people, if we had that many premier class players we would be at the top of the league.

There is only two players that premier teams are looking at:

    Kightly & Hennessey

Most of the rest are playing where they should be and thats mid table championship!

That team would have its bottom spanked in the Premiership. Probably worse than Mad Micks Sunderland team who created a record as being the worst Premiership Team ever!

So why did we employ him at all?It was because Brenda left us in such a bad state that we couldn’t even field a first team. Nobody of class wanted to manage Wolves and we ended up with a best of the bad situation.

I want Incey as our next manager, but he wasn’t ready to get us out of the mess that Hoddle left us in. McCarthy has given us all that he is capable of giving, and now he should go before he makes matters even worse.

MCCARTHY OUT, BRING ON THE GAFFER!

33 you really just listen on the radio dont you, Bothroyd or Ward in front of Eastwood???? what a plank you are, how come he gets the crowd shouting his name home and away, you wouldnt know you dont go! Cant ever remember Jay or Big Nose ever been cheered!

Turn on your speak and spell and practice, no need for the radio until Tuesday night when I will be at the Preston match.

    thats and spelt A N D
    thats Keogh spelt K E O G H

  44. Hintons left cross said:

Firstly, it’s good to know that Michael Kightly will be fit soon. The guy has the talent to be at least an average Premiership player, possibly better than average. I just hope that he does it with our beloved Wolves. However, the Premiership teams will be offering him terms next season, and our challenge will be to keep him at the Golden Palace.

As far as the rest of the season is concerned, the first reaction is to ask why all this despair now, with so much of the season left to go? But those who have been to Wolves matches home and away over the last month know how dire the situation is. This is a team with no direction or motivation. McCarthy lost interest in the team before Christmas and he just picking up his wages. Probably wants to leave just as much as we want him to go.

The last press release on his contract said that it was a rolling annual contract, which should mean that he is not entitled to compensation when the contract is not renewed again. At least I hope that is the case, and nobody has extended his original deal! With the high degree of incompetence in the current management of the company, he could have been given a three year extension, which I have heard various people quoting.

What we do next is so obvious that I don’t believe it’s even controversial. We sign Paul Ince as our next manager and give him a 5 year contract. After that, Man. United will want him to replace Alex Ferguson, and as that’s where he learned his trade he will be more than tempted to accept it. In the meantime, we enjoy the ride with the real gaffer in charge.

    33. As i remember rightly, we were losing to Blackpool at home & MM brought on Eastwood & and he bagged a double & won us the game, before Blake, he was the only player who had the balls to shoot, yeah he may be lazy but as long as he finds the net regularly does it matter if he doesn’t run around all match? Off topic but when Mr.Morgan came in didn’t he say promotion was a must? Now if we don’t get promotion what happens? I myself can’t wait to find out. Come On You Wolves.

Me and 5 mates all have season tickets and have not been to a match since christmas and it will remain that way until either Morgan sacks the fool or we win the champions league. Which ever happens first, i`m not bothered which.

You must have a feeling of alienation being the only plastic cockney with a Wolverhampton accent.
On the Kightly topic, it may be better for you if he doesn’t come back until the transfer window closes. If you reach the play offs, he is a seriously good player and is bound to attract a lot of attention. Teams like West Ham, Birmingham, Everton etc are bound to come sniffing. He doesn’t seem to be a big head and may stay with you a bit longer unless his agent has a say in it but that’s football these days. Be great if we could both go up. Fingers crossed.

Alex Rae - Aint doing too bad, and would be a popular choice.
