A teenager with model good looks is hoping to dazzle judges in the final of a national competition organised by a Black Country modelling agency.
A-level student Alice Robinson is one of 26 hopefuls who have made it to the final stage of a search for new modelling talent.
The 17-year-old from Claverley near Wolverhampton was one of 2,200 people who entered the nationwide contest. Wolverhampton-based Sapphires Model Management teamed up with high street fashion business Bestseller, which is behind the high street brands Vero Moda and Jack and Jones, to find a male and a female face of the future.
Scouts from the agency have spent the past month sifting through applications, with the final taking place in Birmingham’s Radisson SAS hotel later today.
Alice, a student at Wrekin College in Telford, said she was excited about making it to the final. It was her sister Ginny, 27, who entered her for the competition – with her blessing – after seeing it featured in the Express & Star.
“I haven’t modelled before and I’m really pleased to make it through to the final,” said Alice, who finishes her A-levels this year.
“After college I’ll hopefully be going to university to study agriculture – that’s if I don’t make it on the front cover of Vogue in the meantime,” she laughed.
The winners will get a 12-month modelling contract with Sapphires Model Management, a professional fashion shoot and £1,000 to spend in store at Vero Moda and Jack and Jones. University of Wolverhampton graduate Neely Reyes, who runs Sapphires, said she was delighted with the response. “With so many entrants of such a high quality, it hasn’t been easy picking the finalists,” she said.
“But we’re pleased the competition attracted such a good response.”
