Furious Mick McCarthy read the riot act to his faltering Wolves players after they lost ground on the top six, admitting: “It was a disgrace.”
An injury-time equaliser from ten man Southampton means Wolves are now four points from the play-offs and facing an uphill task to keep their promotion dream alive.
And McCarthy was left devastated at the manner of their late leveller, which saw Jason Euell powering home a free header after more careless defending had given Southampton an opportunity to get close.
It brought a deeply dissatisfying conclusion to another fraught Molineux night in which Wolves struggled to rouse the home crowd.
McCarthy admitted his side had been “really poor” for long spells of the game but felt Wolves should have closed the game out after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s clinical brace gave them the initiative.
“I’m absolutely devastated – we’ve thrown two points away and there are no excuses,” he said.
“We weren’t good, but that happens in the Championship and having got ourselves in front it should have been job done.
“A free header with 30 seconds to go is disgraceful. It’s unforgivable – there are no excuses.
“I was raging with anger when I came in. The game for the most part was rubbish and I’m not going to try and justify it.”

McCarthy’s biggest failing is his arrogance. Wolves fans have always appreciated effort and endeavour. They’ve given encouragement where it’s been deserved. I remember the short tenures of Ian Greaves, and later, Brian Little, before regime changes forced them out. It wasn’t the fans that made them go. The fans had been behind them and appreciated their positive efforts.
McCarthy seems to have scant regard for the fans, and sometimes appears to employ tactics just to spite them. His dismissal of fans’ unhappy postings on forums such as this, and admission that he doesn’t bother looking at the league table, shows a disregard for the loyalty of those, without whom, Wolves wouldn’t exist.
I’m sure the undercurrent of impatience from the loyal and long-suffering majority of Wolves’ fans won’t go unnoticed by Mr Morgan.

Mick’s assessment is on the ball, which is more than can be said for the team. His team don’t forget. There did not appear to be one footballer in the side at all. The ball was flying all over the place like a ping-pong game and a bad one at that.
This was the game when Henry move from being a poor midfield player to become a complete liability, how Mick left him on so long is a mystery.
The is an absolute need for someone who can put their foot on the ball and slow down the frenetic non productive activity currently passing for football.
The introduction of Potter, who I am not a fan of, and Keogh and then Eastwood did improve things. However midfield remains a major problem.
Lets see MM now take action to remove the non performers and take a few chances.

Another fiver down. Before the match I reckoned Mick would blame the fans again if we didn’t win. My mate said it would be the team this time round. Darn it. Feel sorry for my mate who always says McCarthy will blame himself. Not happened once this season.
Oh Mick, it’s hard to be humble,
when you’re perfect in every way
You can’t bear to look at the table
Until the first weekend in May
To know Mick is to love him
He must be one hell of a man
Oh Mick, it’s hard to be humble,
But you’re doing the best that you can

Who bought the players? Who coaches the players? Who picked the team? Who dictated the tactics? Who takes the can? The manager cannot try to transfer the blame elsewhere. The buck stops with the manager.
MM is paid far more money than I earn, to produce results for the Wolves. He has failed dismally.
Unless there is a total regime change in the close season, then the fans will walk with their feet.I had people near me last night who didn’t bother to watch the second half, it was so dire. Why should people travel long distances to watch this pathetic display of Divison 2 football?

Bye-Bye play-offs.
M.M. should he still be around in the summer might like to go back to Plymouth Argyle and try to get Peter Halmosi, as I have said many times on this site. He would answer many of the current problems with ball retention and accurate passing. I think when Argyle fail to get promotion, pretty much a cert, they will listen to sensible offers. They also have an outstanding Centre Half another Hungarian. Would make a difference next year which as usual is all we Wolves fans have to look forward to.

it’s all well and good fuming and raging mick. but this isn’t the first time we’ve been rubbish this season is it?. infact poor and unacceptable is becoming an average performance these days. what gets us fans fuming and raging is, that as a manager you don’t seem to be capable of picking out weakness’s in the squad and correcting them. since day one of your appointment, goal scoring has been a major problem. a weak midfield with no real dominant figure to boss the midfield with creative flair, slow and static defenders with no awareness of positions taken up by opposition strikers especially on set pieces. to many basic errors, sloppy passing, and yes i do say lack of passion and desire. mick your paid good money to address these problems, and *why your not doing it i don’t know, perhaps you realise the chances of keeping your job are getting slimmer by the week. but what ever the reasons are, after last seasons big leap forward this seasons just took us 2 big steps back. i believe the mood around molineux now, is no better than when hoddle walked out. the league position is virtually the same, the only difference this time is the rift that’s opened between the fans and the club. and fans turning on fans in a verbal civil war, a reverse of the club motto i think ” out of light cometh darkness “. so well done mick, a big round of applause for you.

These players just dont learn! Error afer Error! I believe it was Potter who was outjumped for the second, yet the penalty was a disgrace!

I listened to the game as I couldn’t get to the match and watched Man U on the TV at the same time. It made me think how far away we are from being anywhere near a team that could even dream of playing in the premiership.
All I could hear was Elokobi to Kyle, Elokobi to Kyle, oh nobody got onto his flick on. Where were the midfield? Why did Jarvis hardly get a pass in the first half?
The problem all year has been team selection and tactics. Playing Kyle will only produce more up and under football which is crude and unattractive to watch. Mick now has fallen in love with Kyle and OK he scored a good goal but please Mick don’t pin all our hopes on him. We have played rubbish teams and not looked any better than them. It is only that SEB knows where the back of the net is that has saved us so far and Gray, who does have an attacking and positive attitude. We missed him last night.
It is hard to be optimistic for anything more than mid table this year. Have a look at the table Mick and look who is above us.

Nigel(Scotland)1, I think you have understood the situation very well and like you, I hope Morgan is just biding his time and getting his size 30 boots ready for the big kick-up-the-…. that McMuppet has coming to him! 31. Yep I’ll give you a reason. Last night was without a doubt the worst game of football I have ever seen. How I lasted the duration I will never know. I think the reality is after last season’s overachievement it is clear from the long ball tactics played last night that we have gone backwards by some margin this season and with the money spent that is unforgivable.

For the first time in 10 years I will not be renewing my ticket.

26 - dead right, we need to be excited. Anybody see Monday’s Times? It was suggesting the best Wolves game ever and asking for email ideas from fans - no contenders from this season. Nights like watching us beat Juventus from the North Bank seem so long ago, but we still have the right to expect to see a team play with passion and verve and excite us. There are many teams in the championship with much less resource and fan base than us who are able to entertain, why can’t someone delvier for us? It really should not be so difficult and if Mick can’t deliver he doe snot deserve to pick up his pay.
This remains a very ordinary division and we are not dar out of touch, IF we could find some consistency we can still make the play offs and should not fear anyone. Not time to give up yet, but finding it harder and harder to stay optimistic

So we have until next Friday to re-new our early bird tickets. I’m sure last night’s capitulation against a very poor 10 men did wonders for the applications. At last Mick has admitted we were “really poor” in this game. Well, what has he seen in other games to suggest we’ve been anything but really poor all season. The early season points and ugly, scrambled 1-0 wins really papered over the cracks of some truly awful performances. My quandary is that, if I re-new my season ticket now, I just know the club will use all the early bird applicants in some PR exercise to suggest a large number fans are fully in support the Manager and what has happened this season. I have to now ask myself if I should “vote with my feet” and not walk to the post box before next Friday, waiting until the close season (no good pretending I’ll stop going altogether) as a clear sign to the club that things aren’t right and something has to be done. So the question is: Principles or £100 saving? That’s a real toughie at the moment.

Whilst it may well be 7 points from 7 other statistics tell you that
THE PAST 7 HOME GAMES HAVE ACCOUNTED FOR 6 POINTS, CONCEEDING 14 GOALS ALONG THE WAY
WE HAVE SCORED JUST ONE GOAL MORE THAN THE DIVISIONS LOWEST ALL SEASON
PLAY OFFS ARE NO LONGER WITHIN OUR OWN DESTINY
All this means is that the numerous errors made by our manager this season have reached crisis point and unless Mr. Morgan acknowledges this and acts we are likely to see more of the same for our earlybird money next season.
Thankfully the E&S gives those of us that care about the shambles an oportunity to air our views, last night programme confirms that Moxey believes in the club not encouraging opinion direct.
On another point, whilst sorry for the Hoddle family does a scout employed for less than 2 years warrant armbands and a minutes silense ?, many a former player, manager or director has passed on without acknowledgement by the club.

Now MM lovers you tell me this, are you happy with this team, the style of play, huff up to KK for a knock down and get a lucky break….. MM needs to do the decent thing and resign. He hasnt got a clue to manage a big club like wolves, he is hopelessly out of his depth, and the quicker this season ends the better. I only hope that Steve Morgan sees the football in a fans eyes and he would not like what he his watching. MM is a disgrace, I thought Hoddle was bad but god this joker is even wqorst. No wonder the mackems are having a right laugh at our expense because only they know how bad a manager he is. MM can argue he had no money to spend, but he has been backed here so there is no excuses!
Steve Morgan needs to have a blueprint this summer on where the wolves are going, because at the moment we havent changed since Dave Jones got sacked. We are a mid table side which is not good enough for success hungry wolves fans. How many more games are left this season….? 11 I think I cant see us 7-8 wins we need to gate crash the play offs as remember we will be playing the teams around us.
I hope Morgan gets rid of fat man moxey after all he recruited hoddle, and now MM both have turned out to be hopeless. The managers constant demeaning of the fans and the team selctions of quite frankly, a desperate man is just too much to bear. Last nights absolutely disgraceful display was the final nail in the coffin as far as I’m concerned.
I will be back, but only after Mr Morgan has gained control over this club and instilled discipline and a manager who’s drive and ambition matches that of the fans.
Wolves are a national joke and MM has been for many years so get rid now or face an average attendance of 15,000 next season.

I said a few weeks ago “Beware the Ides of March” and once again March is is proving a significant factor in our seasons fortunes and once again the Southampton hoodoo has struck.
I have always said that you have to judge any manager season by season and I still stand by that. This as many have said before me is a performance by results game. Our target this season was to gain enough points for automatic promotion or promotion via the playoffs. I don’t think we will achieve either. McCarthy simply is not good enough and let us not forget he currently holds the record as a manager for the lowest number of points for a relegated club from the premiership. If you want to linger in mid table of the Championship then Micks your man if however, you want to promotion to the big boys league then he ain’t the answer. At this moment in time what worries me is what is out there that can replace him and deliver not only our ambition but our status as a top club, its a big big ask and at this moment I don’t have that answer cos there ain’t a lot of quality out there, those of you who call for Paul Ince I’m not so sure he has that kind of experience, in a couple of years maybe but right now I’m not so sure as much as i admire his commitment. We have a break on saturday so time to regroup and think about whose failed and who deserve another chance and who can we bring in to change things, that decision thankfully is at this moment Mr McCarthy’s so god help us.

It was disappointing last night, but very predictable. Let’s face it, would you be happy if you were forced to endure this team in the Premiership? The best thing that could happen for the rest of this miserable season is that we continue as we are and leave talk of play-offs to those teams deserving of it. I missed the Stoke game and was stunned last night at the change in atmosphere at Moilneux. There was little anger but I witnessed normally loyal supporters laughing at the team and its tactics, these supporters had been to the away games and confirmed that Wolves were equally poor when winning. A near neighbour said that he wouldn’t renew after 32 years of unbroken support. It’s heartbreaking to see our club reduced to whipping boys. I shall renew my ticket, but hope we stay in this division. The thought of getting thrashed by the likes of Middlesbrough is too painful to contemplate and the investment needed to produce a half decent premiership team is surely beyond the budget of even Mr Morgan! I suspect that we will see no change until the end of the season, whether he likes it or not Mick McCarthy’s bubble has burst and it will be a long time before he again hears chants of ‘Super Mick McCarthy’. Mr Morgan, loyalty is a great virtue, continually backing losers is folly.

35 goals scored all season with all the strikers we have signed is pathetic. Until we can score more we are going nowhere. It’s been the same for several seasons now and should be sorted out. Mick McCarthy has had money to spend and wasted it on mediocre players.

If Kightly had stayed free of injury, we would probably have been in the top 4 now. That is how tight this division is. There is no doubt that MM seriously overestimated the quality of the squad this season, remember his pre-season statements of strength in depth and statement prior to the WBA-match on how far the team had come since last season. We will just have to accept that there will be no change of manager this season, that MM will go on doing his version of “plugging away” and keep our fingers crossed that we grab one of the two remaining play-off places that will fall to two out about 6-8 teams of much the same ordinary quality. The main problems are that there is no real sign of progress and that we have a manager who does not seem to handle criticism very easily.

38.Kent Wolf… No but she is beginning to humm
Yes we were awful, especially in the 1st half whereI thought Kyle was probably our bext player. But that was probably because everythng was being aimed at him. Soon as he come off we began to look more like a unit except for Henry who had one shot from 40 yards which hit an opponent, apart from that effort he was the most useless player on the pitch. If he coudn’t find an opponent with a pass then he certainly found the touchline without any problem. Freddie and Potter gave even more stabilty and the game all of a sudden opened out and I wasn’t thinking of leaving for the pub early any longer. A couple of sparkiling runs by Freddie was exciting but he is clearly missing a run of games but it does look like either Keogh or Freddie should partner SEB. Kyle for all his effort and I aplaud that was not for this type of game. He is definately your guy on the bench that you need to bring on if you need a hitman up front, his presence took Jarvis out the game and we had no creativity for most of the game
Its not 100% over yet but it aint far off, I shall probably leave my early bird till last minute and am fully expecting another season in the Championship again

7 out of 9 points isnt bad. lets be honest. BUT its not the points (or lack there of) thats the main problem. it the general attitude of the club these days. its all negative, from the squad, to maccarthy and moxey. im not going to be one of thosepeople who is already trying to run down morgan, lets give him chance, he hasnt been here long, he probably wants to full admire the landscape before he gets his fingers wet (so the speak)the test will come when the play-offs are no longer a mathematic reality. adn i know we’d all like to see a change in personel before then, but we wont. though when the day does finally come, maybe we’ll get someone with the nerve to play dan jones on the left, and jarvis on the right…. that woudl surely give us enough attacking prowess to counter our entirely negative adn drab centre of the feild?

It’s not the points we’ve somehow managed to take in the last three games, it’s the complete lack of shape, idea and coherence in the team. I’m not convinced the introduction of Keogh and Potter improved things last night - the goal we scored just after was made entirely by E-B from nothing. The second goal was actually a fantastic cross by our full back and a good move, but it was about the only bright spark of a thoroughly dull and lifeless performance. We have got to have a clear out of the backroom staff in May - Morgan is going to do nothing until the end of the season. MM has told him we’ll be in the playoffs and he is giving him his chance - but I don’t expect there to be any shortcomings if, sorry, when we fail to make the top six. It was two abysmal teams last night and a draw was the fairest result. I’m just glad we’re clear of the bottom three, as if we needed to scrap for our lives we’d be in big trouble. It’s another average division with average teams in it and we’re doing averagely - as we seem to keep saying every year, we should be walking this league. Watching us put performances in like we did last night week after week just makes it so much harder to tolerate.

Mr Morgan,
I’ve taken time to research your business background and your undoubted talent for building
profitable enterprises. Your success, it seems, is built on the foundations of prudent fiscal management coupled with the the ability of your team to return value to the shareholder.
I have a question. Based on the above would you consider Mr Moxey & Mr Mccarthy as potential
candidates for a postion at board level. Would you risk these two screwing up your day job?
If your answer is no then apply that model to our club.
After all without us, as shareholders, you don’t have a club.

55. One game out of 40! Are you saying this you are happy with his tactics and constant changes in team selection in all the other games and the lack of football! Thats what I call selective! A team also reflects the manager.
Eddie Wolf, I also renewed my early bird ticket, and I will be there next season, I am just hoping beyond hope that MM is sacked. Granted not now but as soon as we are mathematically impossible to get into the play off then he needs to go. If the rumours are to be believed Morgan is alwaready got someone in mind…..
MM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with MM comments, but he picks the team, trains them and now he needs to FRAME them. 30 Seconds to go and a corner to the opposition with 10 men against 11. What do you do that is BASIC. DEFEND IT AT ALL COSTS. The defence should be FIRED for gross incompetance!!!

What worries me most is what this season is doing to our youngsters. The season was supposed to be about blooding them and building a team around them.
Instead, they’re farmed out on loan and they have no chance of being picked above MMs favourites. It is both humiliating and uninspiring for them.
I agree with those who are saying we need to rescue something from the ashes of this season, and keeping the youngsters onside seems the least thing that we can hope to do. They are our future.
If MM won’t pick them, then Mr Morgan should ensure that it happens, whatever it takes.

If you know about business, you will know that 1) Running a business such as football, which yes is essentially a comercial business, but is a far different thing to most areas in the stock market. 2) As an astute businessman (rather than a layman) Morgan will be aware that to build up a successfull business takes time, not 18 months and that you can turn a large organisation roung instantly.

OK Boys and girls - quick history lesson. Since 1877 (121 years) Wolves have had 26 managers, thats one every 4.65 years on average.
Since 1982 (26 years) Wolves have had 13 managers, thats one every two years.
You need to learn that constant changing of managers does not help the club. Even if we were to be relegated there is a stong arguement to build some consistency in the club. We have not reall recovered from the sacking of Stan Cullis - 1964, 44 years, 19 managers = 2.31 years. Now compare that to Man Utd or Arsenal of late.
Pre Cullis we had 7 managers in 77 years.
Or, we could get Ince in now (does he actually want the job?) sack him in two years time and then give Bully two years.

we have an excellent passer / creative player in Dennis Rosa who never gets a look in. Going mad doesn’t really change anything - just makes players more edgy. Why would any wolves fans want to reach the play offs or get into the premiership with this team? it would need rebuilding from scratch as we struggle to hold our own in the championship. The balance of the squad is all wrong and that is down to MM - passing and moveemnt down to Tery Connor so for defiante the pair don’t compliment one another so one has to go surely?

Elliott is terrible. Neil Collins is one of the worst and slowest players ive ever seen in gold. foley is not good enough (yet) Karl Henry is a superb right back (last season) but not a good midfielder.potter is also not good enough and ducked the equaliser last night. We need olofinjana, keogh, eastwood and michael gray to start on the right on saturday. bothroyd and kyle (impact player)on bench. time is running out and so is alot of wolves fans patience but mc carthy has to admit when hes wrong look how the game changed when keogh and eastwood come on?

I cannot believe the fans who come on here and support MM
How can you support a manager that has reduced this club to one of the poorest seasons for many a year?
You say that we should stick by the manager and there is no point in changing managers!
So tell me you must all drive the first car you have ever owned, never moved house, never thrown your old clothes away? when something doesnt work you change it you dont keep it hoping it will work again!
When things are this bad with a team that cannot even put a decent pass together surely no one should be saying ” oh well my old car worked once maybe it will again!” MM worked once but its time for a change!

Rob Weaver,,,, err so tell me the difference with Mad Mick and glenda. NONE they are both p1ss poor managers at this level. Stop banging on about last season when we over achieved, this season Morgan gave the fans the blue print. Its promotion, and we are failing miserably. Paul Ince not its not a laugh. THAT WAS MY POINT. TOO MANY MANAGERIAL CHANGES HAS COST WOLVES BADLY.
I’ll put it more plainly. Wolves Golden era ended with Cullis. His final season was poor so he was sacked. We have barely done anything since then, and not achieved any kind of consistency at all - the odd cup here and there granted, but no real amount of dominance. Some Wolves fans need to grow up a little and stop the tantrums and allow the good ship Wolves to level itself out.
MM doent like Roas. Live with it. When he leaves the new manager will be left with MM’s players and have to deal with them as MM has with his predecessors, and some of us won’t like all there decisions.
As I said, we could give Ince - if he is interested ahis two years, get rid of him, and then Bully his two years, and then who?

Totally wrong! Choosing the wrong managers has cost Wolves dearly! We have a failure here right now, could you imagine him outwitting Alex ferguson in the Premiership next season? Dream on…
With Paul Ince we have one of lifes major winners. He won it all as a player extra-ordinaire. He has the intelligence to make it to the top, as well as the presonal authority. He has already had two “Roy of the Rovers” campaigns as a manager and he can only get better. est of all he is a Wolf, and he wanted to manage us two years ago! His ambition frightened Moxey.
Mr Morgan, please do whatever is needed to get the REAL gaffer back here!
OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH PAUL INCE!

Stan Cullis was made manager of Wolves one year after he retired from playing. He had a great career as a Wolves and International player. His command of the team on the field was legendary.
He made a few mistakes early in his career, but as he gained experience he got better and better.
Sounds like I’m describing Paul Ince, funny that!

Football is meant to be entertaining, win lose or draw. Last night was dire, directionless drivel and EVERYONE involved should hang their head in shame.
I was not enjoying the game even when we were ahead, the only bright side is that there is at least one team worse than us, Southampton, but saying that we couldn’t beat them with an extra man and only 20 seconds left, pathetic…
Report abuse
Our mid-field is pathetic, can MM please explain why he has not given GLEESON a chance, he plays for the Irish and scores 2 goals from mid-field in a friendly against Germany, What have our talented youngsters got to do to get in the forst team. He just continues to play his favourites. Lat night was a disgrace, KYLE was outjumped by a swmaller player every time. HENRY now passes the ball back instead of forward. ELLIOT never tracks back to support FOLEY and his ball control is worse than a 6 year old school boy. EASTWOOD came on a showed more skill than all the others put together and MM even applauded his run into the box. So be careful Freddy he may pick you from the start). POTTER ducked instead of trying to head the ball away from the corner and looked good because they only had ten men.
MM you didn’t like what you saw we have told you for weeks that we are poor but you dismiss what the supporters see and say so Mr MORGAN please for the sake of the WOLVES relieve him and the training staff of there dties.
PS If Notts Forest want someone on loan send them ELLIOTT not FREDDY,we won’t miss him.

Your right, we sack so many managers because we don’t select the right ones! It’s not a case of fickle Wolves fans its a case of poor management selection.
Moxey has provided us with SIX management failures. Seems to me that he is the real current underlying problem, and he should go along with McCarthy. With Moxeys track record he will only fail with McCarthys replacement as well!

1 Nigel.
As you say, the fans got behind Little and Greaves during their short tenures. Isn’t it true that if you had replaced MM at the end of last season all those now calling for his sacking would be demanding that he be reinstated?
101 The Real Bully. My point was that fans will support a manager that’s showing promise, and giving them something to believe in. I agree that that sums up MM last season. The fans were behind him, as they were with Little, and Greaves before him. (God I feel old!)
However, MM hasn’t been the same this season, and his relationship with the fans has deteriorated to such an extent, that it’s affecting his abilities with the team too. Who knows, Little and Greaves may have eventually failed too, but while they were giving the fans something to believe in, they got the fans’ wholehearted support in return.

Last season MM put in place a policy of hard working and high tempo football played by young and hungry players in their correct positions.
So why does MM see fit this season to ship out on loan some of these players who served him well and replace them with players who couldn’t get games at lesser clubs than us?
I have totally lost faith in MM. His persistence to play his own favourites (usually out of position!)ahead of better suited candidates leaved me at times dumbfounded….
Is Collins REALLY better than Edwards?
Is Kyle REALLY better than Eastwood?
Is Elokobi REALLY better than Little?
Is Elliot REALLY such a good winger that we need not delve into the loan market?
Is it not wise to have defenders on the posts when defending corners? (cost us 2 goals in 2 home games!)
Isn’t it a fundamental requirement of management to know roughly who his best team is?
Is it the general rule for managers to publically slate the paying fans for voicing their opinions?
Is it not possible for a manager to blame himself occasionally instead of the referee, the players, the fans etc.?
We have gone backwards in EVERY aspect, league position, quality of player, quality of play, tactics, atmosphere, supporter satisfaction….and I’m afraid I can’t see it getting any better at the moment.

we going for dele adebola 1 question why didnt we because he is doing ok at bristol city instead we have
another addition to the sunderland reunion party KEVIN KYLE who for some reason coventry fans dont like him
yet merlin or who ever his name is picks him over freedy eastwood who he pays £1.5m any way i will stop ther
just want to say to have a good atmosphere at the wolves you need to have entertaining football. but on
the plus side theres S.E.B who looks to be a rigth handful and can score the goals. so mr morgan please sort it out lets have a manager with COMMON SENSE who can pick a team on merit and not favouritisum
because im sorry to say we are going no where and as for the early birds its just another insulf from
