Angry Bully hits out at players

harriersstafford2.jpgAngry Steve Bull today branded his Stafford team an “embarrassment” after accusing them of the “worst performance I’ve seen in 20 years” following their 6-0 thrashing by Kidderminster.

Rangers plunged to new depths following the biggest defeat in the Blue Square Premier this season, which left them 10 points from safety with 13 games left.

“It was embarrassing and the players know it. I’ve only been managing for four games, but I think this was the worst performance I’ve ever seen from a side in 20 years in football,” said Bull.

“I just hope they slept last night. I know there’s a difference between full-time and part-time, but you have to put a show on for people.

“We can’t even do basics – we can’t pass a ball 10 yards, so that’s what we’ll be doing in training on Thursday – basic stuff because they dribbled around us night.

“It was as if they’d left their brains at work – we couldn’t pass the ball, chase it – it was a waste of time.

“Some of the players here are on full-time wages – I’d be happy on what they take home a week anyway.”

The Wolves legend insists he hasn’t given up hope of surviving the drop.

“If we give up, these players might as well go on holiday now,” he said.

“There’s no chance of that. These lads will keep working on trying to get it right until the end of the season.

“Rome wasn’t built in a day and I’m here to plan for next year. I’ve got no regrets.

“Why should I? I’ve got a rung on the ladder now and we’ll take it from here.

“But if we’re going down, I want us to go down fighting. I want to show the supporters that I can bring something to the club.

“The players here are playing for the shirt, but I’m struggling to pick two or three out of those who played last night for next season.”

Well a look at the table and a chat with the coaching staff would have told him that the squad is nowhere near good enough. 4 games and no victories on, and all he’s done is kept the same rubbish. If he thinks loaning kids from pro clubs will ease them out of the drop zone, he’s living in dreamland.

Mark my words, he’ll be gone by the end of the season.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh how we laughed in Walsall at this pathetic excuse for a manager, Absolutely hilarious!

That’s unfair “in the know”…steve might be alot of things but a quitter is not one of them. He won’t be leaving in a hurry and i think he’s aware of what the issues are. I went to Kiddi the gap is not just on the pitch but there’s a lot to do off the field aswell.
The Rangers were bad that’s true, couldn’t hold the ball or pass accurately, it came back into the SR box too frequently and with too many painful consequences. 4-0 by half time tells its own story. SR lacked depth in midfield and width and crucially confidence. Still Steve it can’t get much worse can it???

I like Steve Bull and have the utmost respect for him as a player, but this circus at Stafford is a
cosmetic, meaningless exercise which will leave Steve Bull embarrassed and Rangers further in debt.
The Board still don’t understand what is at the root of their problems - Small minded, self
opinionated Directors who blame everyone else for their problems.

Don,t worry Bully,Steve Morgan will soon be offering you your dream job at the Bowl. How us baggies will enjoy that.

  10. tonimischi said:

    9. You Baggies are incapable of enjoying anything remotely exciting; take last year play off final for example???…case in point!

I can laugh because its hilarious! Us and Albion are a force together against wolves, walsall and albion can drink together before games, when we beat albion 4-1 at walsall few years ago, I didnt have to buy one drink that night, however if the same had happened against wolverhamton, I would most probably had to see how many stiches I had recieved that night.

Joe, I can’t agree with your opinion of the board. They identified that Ian Painter wasn’t the man to move the club on and replaced him with Robbo. This season Robbo wanted McNiven and a director dipped into his own pockets to pay for the guy. The problems this season are compounded from last season when our manager who for some reason is treated like a god by our supporters lacked the ability to bring in players who could play as ateam, and more worryingly the tactical agility to beat some of the poorer teams. This pre season saw us with no real squad until the Thursday before the first game! Managers are paid for results - look at Robbos record in Blue Square Premier. If the board should be blamed for anything they should be blamed for being too loyal to Robbo. Steve Bull is a risk, but at least the board are doing something. I’ll reserve my judgement of Bully as a manager after 20 games.

    Mal,

Robbo was treated with regard and respect for taking us from oblivion to the BSP with meagre resources compared to many clubs in the lower non-league echelons, let alone the BSP. Moreover his budget was slashed pre-season and he did the best with what he didn’t have. It could be argued that he and the board stayed mutually loyal until the situation became untenable. Point is - everyone is no doubt doing their best without the resources to be serious contenders at staying at this level of football! Let’s hope for Bully’s sake that he can attract investment into the Rangers (or the Boro as we Staffordians say)otherwise this masterstroke of publicity and genuine intent to take the club forward will soon be forgotten and the enthusiasm and hope will fade quickly into the dim and distant, just as it did under Robbo following the furore of promotion and a sudden reality check!

  14. Mal said:

Andrew, I agree with you - I just don’t like to see the board blamed for everything as they are trying to make sure that our club remains a going concern. Their biggest mistake is the lack of information that comes out of Marston Road.

  15. Andrew Stephens said:

Aye, as I say, I’m sure everyone is doing what they believe to be their best…frustration, concern etc aboiut your own club breeds anxiety, and we’re all prone to the blame game….

  16. Joe said:

    Mal,
Its very easy to blame the board because it is their fault. Look at the same old faces who’ve been there for the last 10-12 years. Look at the Directors who came and went, ever wondered why? Its because they
get so frustrated with certain Directors inability to move forward and take a good hard look at the state of the club. You say the board is trying to keep the club a going concern? How? By cutting the players budget?. Lets face it the team isn’t good enough, the ground is an embarassment and there is next to no involvment
with the local population. You might want to suggest I ‘put up or shut up’, maybe once upon a time I
    did!
