Saddlers urged to snap up Moore

9475462.jpgStriker Troy Deeney has urged Saddlers to snap up trialist Stefan Moore.

Moore made an instant impression on striker partner Moore when the pair lined up alongside each other in yesterday’s 1-0 reserve team defeat against Leicester.

And Deeney feels Moore could be an asset to Saddlers’ promotion chasing squad.

“Stefan Moore’s been here since last week and he’s decent so we’ll look to sign him hopefully,” Deeney said.

“Because my younger brother plays for Villa I’ve seen Stefan and (his brother) Luke play and he’s been decent.

“He’s got a good pedigree and he’s played in the Premier League and for the England youth team, so he can’t be too bad.

“In the first half I thought we did very well together.”

The 19-year-old was pleased to get 90 minutes under his belt after missing out against Swindon – partly due to illness.

“After being ill last week it was a decent run-out,” Deeney said. “I was in hospital on Friday night and Sunday night – I couldn’t breath because I had an abscess in my mouth, so I had to get that sorted out.

“I only started training again last Thursday, so it took a bit out of me, but I’m all right now and ready to go.

Deeney was disappointed to be on the bench at Swindon, but was impressed with Kevin Betsy’s first game up front.

“At first I was disappointed to be on the bench on Saturday, but I think we all saw why because Kevin Betsy was outstanding,” he said.

I’d agree, snap him up, even if ’till the end of the season, he gives us an extra option and extra competition for places. He was playing Championship football at the start of the season and has good pedigree. If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out, but I reckon he’s worth a short term contract.
