Rush hour chaos plagued commuters on the Ring Road on Tuesday as a hit-and-run driver killed a female pedestrian, forcing police to partially close the Ring Road. A single trainer could be seen lying on the carriageway as police closed a section of the road between Stafford Street at the university and the Wednesfield Road junction. Traffic was backed up along Stafford Street as far as the Goodyear island on Stafford Road.
