Wolverhampton City Netball League’s Division 2 Ladybirds team were back on the glory trail this week when they met Static Systems.
Both teams went goal for goal throughout the first half with both centre courts, Leigh Burns, Terri-Ann Truslove and Lisa Smith against Lexi Stevens, Mandy Richards and Stephanie Roundtree, containing each other.
However, the persistently accurate shooting of Angela Slater and Jane Langford eventually thrust Ladybirds into the final seven-goal lead.
In the same division, newcomers PHX took a early advantage four-goal lead and looked good as they finally eased to a six-goal margin win over Eurostars.
Despite hearty defensive movements by their opponents, both sets of shooters, Stacey Prosser and Yvonne Collins of PHX along with Rachel Guglielmo and Sarah Breakspear of Euro, managed to convert long, open passing up the court into goals.
In Division 5, Thundercats’ valiant efforts to make headway failed to halt a battering from Chasetown B, who more than trebled their opponents’ goals.
Charlotte Topman and Annette Murphy of Chasetown provided a top-form show in the shooting circle.
