Wolves face an anxious wait over goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey’s fitness after he suffered concussion in the side’s season-saving win at Selhurst Park.
Hennessey was taken to hospital after clashing with Palace’s Matt Lawrence in the closing stages of the 2-0 win – and the Welsh international will be monitored this week before deciding whether he can play at Colchester.
Graham Stack, who made a fine late save to preserve the clean sheet, is on stand-by in case Hennessey fails to recover in time.
Wolves physio Steve Kemp said today: “Wayne never lost consciousness but we took him off to hospital to be checked.
“He was caught on the cheekbone but an x-ray showed there was no serious damage.
“He did have a mild concussion but was released from hospital and allowed to travel home just before midnight.
“He was in a bit of pain though so we’ll monitor him during the week to see how he is.”
Meanwhile, striker Kevin Kyle reflected on Wolves’ vital win at Selhurst Park and declared: “That one was for the manager.”
The forward notched his first goal with a neat turn and crisp shot after coming on as a late second half substitute.
Boss Mick McCarthy had sprung a few surprises with his team selection and 4-5-1 formation but Kyle was delighted that the players finally came through for him with a hard-earned victory.
“The fans had every right to say what they said last week because it was awful,” he said.
“The gaffer’s been getting a lot of stick and I think the lads had to stand up and be counted for him.
“Instead of the gaffer getting it on the chin it has to be the players out there doing it.
“It’s not a case of taking the pressure off the manager but we have to do our bit – we’re the ones who are on the park which the manager isn’t.
“It’s pleasing for him and he deserves it.”

Mick, your tactics and player selection is second to none.
In Kyle you’ve picked up the most prolific striker the club has had since Bully.
Oh how great you are.
Lets hope Henns is fit for the weekend.
Must be a serious contender for Wolves Player of the Season!
wolveswolves:
I trust your being a tad sarcastic?
If you need a goalie……….please take Kiely
Kent Wolf. I struggle to think of too many other contenders at the moment to be honest. I think I’d possibly still go with Kites even though he’s not played in months. It really is a tough one this season - for all the wrong reasons unfortunately
Get well soon henno!
Stack made a brillient save towards the end of the game, and he seems to be a character within the club, so lets support him if he comes in.
As were talking about keepers……has anyone heard any think about murrey? Can’t wait till he teaches henno how 2command his area off crosses. Then he has got everythin in that position.
Wacky
what about the 6 industrial heaters used on tuesday, they failed just like everything at the Yellow dump.
murray out for rest of season… expected to be available for back-up for the last few games.
i dont think he should get a starting place immediately. what sort of message does that send to wayne?
Hope Wayne gets better soon.I was gonna post on here a few weeks ago he could do with a rest from the first team and with also playing for wales,at his young age i thought the long season was beginning to take its toll on him.Not playing against Colchester may be a blessing in disguise to give him a WELL EARNED rest.
baggy 1, what are you on about???
The heaters failed on tuesday, wolves won on saturday.
So i wouldnt say we failed there, unlike yourselves the weekend.
As for Yellow dump, i’d say you’ve never been there and i’d probable go as far as saying you’ve never been to the Hawthornes either.
No go away, there a good little boy.
baggy 1, what are you on about. With your basic command of english and minmal reasoning I would remain quiet, and just copy what other people say and do. That way theres less chace of you looking an idiot, which you have clearly acheived here!
One thing with Wolves is we never seem to struggle for solid keepers.
I’m sure stack will cover well if needed. And theirs always Ikeme who is held in high regard from Bobby Mimms
Hopefully however Wayne will be ready for Colchester, but any head injury is treated as fairly serious, so I doubt he’ll be rushed back.
Look out Terry, Baggy 1 is after your title as ” Most Stupid Baggie “
7. Baggy 1, what a unique choice of name. That is one of the stupidest comments ever seen on here, but I’m sure in your mind you saw it as a joke… Ahh well.
Just for clarification guys: the “1″ in Baggy 1 refers to his IQ level. Interestingly, this is actually way above average for the baggies supporters (both of them).
is kyle your top scorer now boing boing
16. No its still Ebanks-Blake 15 goals (13 of which were with Plymouth).
that’s the toughest question of the year, who has th highest IQ, Terry or boggie1 ?
I must say that it would be a close call, but i think terry may shade it as he can spell boing (unless he’s learned how to cut & paste)& insists on always using it twice!
Hey baggy 1, how did you like losing to a team in gold on Saturday?
i think carl ikeem would go in goal AND WHAT A GOAL FROM GRAY WELL DONE WOLVES
