Walsall can handle pressure: boss

Walsall manager Richard MoneyWalsall manager Richard Money is confident his side can cope with the pressure at the ‘exciting business end’ of the season.

The Saddlers have exceeded all early season expectations by maintaining a genuine promotion challenge and Money is delighted that they now have a clear goal to aim for in the final months of the campaign.

“All we could have asked for I think at the beginning of the season is to come into this last third in a position where we’ve got something seriously to play for,” Money said.

“We’re in that position now and only time will tell if we can stay there.

“The closer we get to the end of the season, the nerves start to jangle.

“We’ve got some very big games coming up and it is a different level for most of the players and we’ll see how they cope.

“But they’ve coped with everything that’s been thrown at them thus far and I see no reason to suggest that they won’t do it from here on in.”

After facing Swindon today and Luton next weekend, their remaining 12 matches will be against sides that Money believes will consider themselves to be play-off contenders.
