Villa boss issues warning

Aston Villa manager Martin O'NeillMartin O’Neill has warned Villa not to “do a Fulham” as he plots his side’s next assault on their European challenge.

Villa go to struggling Reading on Sunday anxious to build on their fine comeback win against Newcastle after their week’s break in Marbella.

But the boss is concerned at his side repeating their last awayday performance whenthey turned in a no-show to go down 2-1 at Fulham.

“Whatever you say about Reading, this season they’ve beaten Liverpool at the Madejski Stadium.

“They might not be in the best run in the world, but neither were Fulham,” said O’Neill.

“We have to play really strongly. We’re going in with confidence, just as we did at Fulham.

“Reading showed a few weeks ago that they can be really dangerous.”

O’Neill added: “I was delighted with the second-half against Newcastle. Now we’ve got to build on that and this is a really big game for us – no doubt about it.

“It will not be easy. The pitch might not be conducive for playing great football, but we have to handle that.”
