Willenhall 1 Dunstable 4

Willenhall Town FCWillenhall crashed down to earth after last week’s fine win over Chasetown by suffering a 4-1 home defeat to Dunstable Town.

The Reds started the match in much the same vein as last week but fell behind after 10 minutes when Stuart Deaton pounced on a ball that had run loose in the penalty area after a fine save by Reds keeper Danny Woodhall.

Willenhall suffered a further blow minutes later when centre-back Ross Brown was unable to continue after picking up a knock and Danny Harvey came on to replace him.

The home side got back into it moments later when Craig Milligan’s precise crossfield ball found Tyrone Barnett, who steered the ball past Paul Taylor in the Dunstable goal.

Nick Jackson put Dunstable ahead with a close range header, before a third goal just before the interval from Jonathan Barnett made life extremely difficult for the hosts.

Chances were at a premium during a disappointing second half and Dunstable substitute Russell Preston rounded things off with 10 minutes remaining.

Reds boss Dean Edwards was not pleased by his team’s display after the pleasing display last week.

“We turned up today with about 50 per cent of the commitment we did last week and the result has told its own story,” he said.
