Murder appeal fails to provide leads

wd2511969-michael-davis-bi.jpgDetectives probing the murder of a Black Country property consultant have admitted that they have received no information – despite a second high-profile appeal.

Michael Davis Bingham, aged 43, was discovered dead at his home based in Bowen Street, Parkfields, Wolverhampton, on December 13, and more than 50 police officers have been working on the case.

They made a second appeal for information last Tuesday, but so far no-one has come forward to offer any crucial leads.

West Midlands police spokeswoman Sarah Astbury said: “We have received nothing since the press conference.”

Mr Bingham, who died as a result of a single stab wound, was a Canadian national who came to Britain in 2002 and moved to Wolverhampton from Telford last year.

His mother Rita Davis spoke of her grief at a press conference in Birmingham where police were re-appealing for information about the murder.

She fought back tears as she read out a statement which said: “We are very saddened by Michael’s untimely and tragic death.

“Whoever you are, you did not only end the life of Michael but you also robbed his family of a loving son, brother, nephew, uncle and cousin. As his mother I will never be able to replace him and will carry this pain for a long time to come,” she said.

“As we all grieve the loss of Michael, I just want whoever you are to think about your own family and what it would be like to deal with such devastation and a cruel and senseless loss of a loved one,” she continued.

“I urge anyone who can be of help to the murder investigation to come forward with any information they may have,” she added.

Police believe Mr Bingham was murdered between midnight on December 12 and 8.30am the next day. He was last seen in the Erdington area of Birmingham at 7.30pm.

Anyone with information is urged to telephone the police on 0845 113 5000.
