Cars your bank manager likes

But with its impressive fuel-saving technologies, good looks and driver comfort, the iconic MINI Hatchback (2006 onwards) claims the top spot, losing a tiny £1,388 a year. It’s a far cry from the Maybach’s £77,651 drop in value - and a very smart investment indeed.

I can’t belive what rubbish you actually print in the guise of stories on this website. I presume that whoever has compiled this is the same person who compiled the the report on cars with the fastest depriciation a few weeks ago, have they actually read what they have written and do they understand what they are writing? Of course these cars are going to have the smallest deprication due to the fact that they cost a fraction of the cost that the cars in the other report cost. Has he/she actually calculated the percentage of deprication ie loss against cost? Why not work these out and then write the report it make a lot more intersting read.

I was just about to post, but post (1) above sums my thoughts up perfectly.

If a car costs £100 and ‘only’ loses £95 of it’s value it would top your chart. Unfortunately, thats a 95% depreciation. Not good in anyones book.

    Totally meaningless article, I’m afraid!

Sorry, but I have to agree with 1 & 2.

A quick flick through my top gear mag reveals…

    Hyundai Amica - Loss £2423
    List Price £6017
    40% Loss on list price

    Toyota Aygo - Loss £2264
    List Price £6845
    33% Loss on list price

    Perodua Myvi - Loss £2147
    List Price £6799
    31% Loss on list price

    Perodua Kelisa - Loss £2067
    List Price £4812
    42% Loss on list price

and so on. However, in comparison…

    Maybach - Loss £77651
    List Price £345675
    22% Loss on list price

So as a percentage of list price, the Mayback actually depreciates less in a year than all of the top ten except the Mini and Honda Jazz.

Someone clearly put alot of thought into this.

I’ve only lost 5% off the value of my £100,000 car but that other person lost 50% on their £10,000 car! What a saving!

    Math is hard!
